    It has a stunning 4K HDR Display, Snapdragon 845, and some really good low-light camera performance. But a big, bulky and dated design holds this one back. Let me know what you think.

    • @imranhussein55
      @imranhussein55 5 лет назад +3

      The bulkiness to me is not noticeable, I even like what they've achieved with the design with whatever they've packed in it. It is an absolute beast

    • @alexdiezg
      @alexdiezg 5 лет назад +6

      The "big, bulky and *dated* design" is only because Sony doesn't follow stupid trends like making the bezels smaller when smaller bezels gives you 0 more features whatsoever and adding the notch which is just plain retarded. Sony stands out from the crowd and is being noticeable. You know when someone is holding an Xperia in their hands, but not when they're holding an iPhone X or its countless copycat inbreds. The XZ2P is a not a beast, like Imran Hussein above me says, it's a *monster!* Easily the best phone of 2018.

      Very good design. If you pay attention to the back design style and camera position, the Xperia XZ2 or XZ3 design is adapted from the Sony Ericsson VIVAZ and Xperia Neo. You can see the video on the following link for comparison

  • @Knightstorm12
    @Knightstorm12 5 лет назад +37

    It's a beautiful and powerful looking device. Bezels, for me they give me an area to hold the phone in landscape mode while consuming media without covering the screen...bezeless is simply a marketing ploy in my opinion and makes a device's screen survivability that much less on a drop...
    I think it should be priced at $800-$850 USD...

    Super slowmotion is actually 1080p

  • @yogeshjadhav1976
    @yogeshjadhav1976 5 лет назад +24

    Corrections : 1 )SONY has QNovo adaptive charging to save battery from overcharging .your phone learns your charging habits and manages the time to charge. This is the reason it took 27 mins to charge from 94 to 100 %.
    2) Sony was first to bring 960 fps @ 720p and now they can shoot at 1080p . That is the reason they are crisp.

  • @serginho9999
    @serginho9999 5 лет назад +24

    For me it's perfect phone. I'd choose this over XZ3 because of the camera, LCD 4k hdr and 16:9 aspect ratio..

    • @imranhussein55
      @imranhussein55 5 лет назад +6

      I can't choose over xz3, but I'd keep both. You know why? To educate stupid fanboys why this had big bezels and bulky and why this is slim, lighter and edgy

  • @constantinosmichael7309
    @constantinosmichael7309 5 лет назад +2

    I personally like the design, and as a media consuming design/device should be the best in comfort and viewing. Those pictures looks really nice, and watching a few others as well it really nails the camera set up. Although I thought it was able to capture slow motion in full HD 1080p

  • @lionelb8227
    @lionelb8227 5 лет назад +5

    Super Slow Motion is also available at 1080p.
    The camera I clearly one of the best, but the XZ3 looks way better.
    I'll wait for the XZ4 and the Premium variant to change my current phone.

    Better than any Samsung device by far. The battery lasts a lot longer than what was stated. I have the black chrome version which look a lot nicer than the Silver. This device is a rare beast. Amazing screen, camera, battery life and LDAC. Highly recommended, even in 2020.

  • @fonzitheman
    @fonzitheman 5 лет назад +1

    I like the 16:9 screen ratio but if they're going to have that big chin at the bottom then may as well throw some back lit capacitive keys on there too.
    But I think you're right on the design, the back looks a little odd to me. Not to keen on that.
    Maybe Im spoilt on the mi max 2 battery but the big brand name phones really need to put some larger capacity batteries in their devices too.
    Anyway, another good review Andrew 👍

    Pretty good but I don't get the hype around bezeless designs still. I have the XZPREMIUM and it's fantastic with fantastic colours ( decent blacks ). I've also used the Note 8 and S9+ and it didn't seem worth hype. Also the dual speaker set up on Samsung is very bias (ear peice does only high frequencies, bottom speaker does low frequencies).
    What I do like about XPERIAs are their aim for a balanced stereo experience. Unfortunately this means they usually aren't as loud as the competition but their stereo experience is above the competition.

    Good helpful review Andrew, you repeat over and over some phrases, but I appreciate your effort to help us chose the best product. I would like to see a review of DSDA (dual sim - dual active) latest phones. I am going to change my 5 year's HTC and is a nightmare seeking for a good phone that can put on hold the first call on SIM1 while talking on SIM2. People believe I have the phone closed while engaged in a call on the other line. I find unacceptable to pay over 1000 euro for a "phone" while it is more a camera, a TV or a game station than a phone.

      Of course the Note 9 is overpriced, no smartphone should cost $1000. However, it certainly has more to offer than the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium, better battery life, S-Pen, Super AMOLED display and a newer version of Android. My point is if you are going to spend a $1000 on a smartphone, buy the Note 9 over this phone.

      I have a video request for you so could you please do a video analysis of the whole notch trend. I think it's an issue that really needs to be addressed as nowadays smartphone manufacturers are all jumping on the bandwagon with the whole notch trend and ait leaves phones all looking the same and without any character whatsoever.

    Best colors and details from low light/daylight stills or video, but, shamefull hdr or other stacking in comparison to p20pro/mate20pro(stacking like 10 pictures for hdr, wonder how much with AIS), noisy no matter the iso(my old inferior hw of 950xl captures as much detail with almost no noise), noisy jpeg - no raw - no OIS - no long 10+second exposure - no full res(19mp) monochrome, audio recording is not bassy enough(listen to lumias / even better huawei p20pro), heavy+bezelfull+small battery.
    Mostly, auto should take 19mp manual hdr in daylight or in new auto mode comparable amount of detail which is lost with processing as compared to other phones with such resolution(like oppo find x) or to full res mode like auto in xz3.
    All in focus(focus stacking) would be asking too much.

    Dated design? I think it looks amazing. The note 9 has nothing better than this phone, they are very diferent phones, its not a matter of wich is better.. It depends on who buys them and what people want from a smartphone. Sony has one big problem wich is marketing. You are constantelly bombarded with samsung, huawei and apple "crap" on stores all the time but there are no Sony phones on display, that a huge problem..

    • @andrewmarcdavid
      @andrewmarcdavid  5 лет назад +1

      The design is a matter of personal preference. I personally don’t like the design but that is just me. Others like it and I get it. I do love the display, performance and stereo speakers. I agree Sony has a marketing problem. They just don’t market their smartphones properly.

      @@andrewmarcdavid its true. I actually used to prefer the previous design of sony when they were boxy with the fingerscanner on the side.. Sony tries too hard to be diferent from the competition and they have kinda of a big market in europe and Japan but the problem is that companies like Huawei that in my opinion make way worse products than sony, have a huge worldwide market because they are amazing at making. I tottaly get why you houldnt like the design, its just not trendy at all..

    LCD display scary. My LG V20 was having image retention just after few weeks. It never went away. I tried everything possible like S-Filter, Switching off phone for few days etc... Finally got rid of the phone itself. Never gonna buy LCD unless it is Super LCD display of HTC

    I'll pass on this phone. The Sony Xperia XA2 line looks much better and it's considered a midrange.

    One very powerfull phone, but it looks like it's an old phone.
    Don't know where Sony had their mind when they designed it. Big flaw in my opinion.

    Sony should revamp its strategy. This phone looks outdated with huge bezels. The display is one of the best in the market, agreed but design is not feel modern at all. The camera should be pitted against p20 pro or Pixel 2 to see how good it holds. The device is looking thick too. Another biggest con is not having OIS. I mean c'mon its 2018 and you are not including an OIS in your $1000 phone? So, thick phone with huge bezels with a good camera minus OIS, no in display fingerprint scanner or face unlock, very poor screen to body ratio. Sony is dying. The triluminious display can't save the day.

    I'll pass. Too costly for my use. If I was a great deal younger and tech savvy instead of tech challenged, and still employed, I would be more inclined to buy the Note 9. I mean, really. My husband and I still have a landline!

    Again!!!..another big disappointment from the amazing Sony! if Sony keep this old-fashioned ugly design, bad battery life, and still just focusing on screens they'll be totally out of mobile phone market I can guarantee that... Sony need to CHANGE their benchmarks !!
    And still p20 pro is the best to shoot in low light

      Fadi T but why every camera battle between sony xz2p and p20p sony always outperfromed p20p in low light shots?
