Mike realized 3:13 that cus was his real dad just took a little time to find him. Cus believed in him and loved him and that's why 3:59 he gets teary. Cus gave him his love and support and knew his son was a champion and his champ. World needs more people like Cus. Mike is also a great person, much respect for both of them and their growth.
It's touching to see the story of how Cus and Tyson filled a void in each others lives like father and son, while at the same time the best heavy weight champion of all time was being created. This should be made into a movie.
For sure my favorite I put him above Ali, Jackie Robinson, Michael Jordan, etc. mike Tyson is more than just a boxer, hes someone everyone can be inspired by.
A movie must be made about this. A Father and Son story about saving each other.. One man kept alive with the will to live and a boy kept alive with his guidance and love.
Cus really cared about Mike. I bet if he would've never passed away. Don King would've never stole all of Mike's money. May he R.I.P. He was a true legend.
I cried when I watch this... I do hate my father but his presence and criticism made me a better man. I grateful to have a father albeit not the best one.
I'm 33. Me and my father never spoke since 2004 because of something REALLY petty. My father died suddenly from heart failure in August 2018. Hearing my mother cry on the phone and everything that came with it was the worst thing that ever happened to me. Please don't do the same mistake that I did. Love and learn how to appreciate your father the way he is. Don't try to change or correct him. Just appreciate him for who he really is. Wish you nothing but the best my man.
You can feel the pain in Mike’s voice when he talks about the people that bullied him and I think, that is why he can’t talk or think about Cos without choking up, that feeling you have when you’ve finally found a home; spiritually, mentally and physically is so overwhelming. I’m glad Mike Tyson got through those hard years. I think Cos would be proud of him today.
Mike can't talk about Cus without choking up. Mike is long passed whatever bs he dealt with before meeting Cus, but losing his only father figure he ever had affects him to this day.
look at it this way in Creed. Adonis is a young man rocky helps him with boxing and motivates him keeps him disciplined. While adonis motivates him to fight in life and keeps him running and motivated for life.
An old school, white, hard, no nonsense, disciplinarian boxing trainer, meets a young, unloved, powerful, ferocious, tear away, black youth. IRON MIKE TYSON is created.
Same. It’s crazy how some things were meant to be. Cus saw something in Mike that Mike didn’t see in himself . Until he strapped on the world championship belt, and he realized what Cus taught him the most valuable lesson in life. And showed him love and brought him into his family. You can tell this means everything to Mike even til this day. He misses Cus. Cuz would’ve been proud of Mike. He became the most dominant heavy weight of all time. Tyson is a national treasure. I wish Don King would’ve been more like Cus. That’s when shit started going south. We love you Mike. Thanks for all the fights! No one will ever be as good as you 👊🏻
Mike Tyson has really been through a lot. He sets up such a hard front to protect his deep emotions. I'm pretty sure we all can relate to this. Great interview.
You know what we are missing young ppl connecting to elders and elders motivation to help the youth and demand respect ppl don't help kids like they use to and young ppl don't respect and love elders mentors real mentors hard to find far few n in between the last era of real respect for elders and love of the youth from elders
Having worked with kids in care, when Mike talks about the compliments Cus gave him and Mike doesn’t understand why, I feel that. The young adults and teenagers I worked with didn’t know how to take positive comments or commendation. A lot of the time they’d acted out irrationally, because they’ve never had anything slightly positive said to them. Over time they learn but I know first hand what he’s saying 😞
This is probably the most emotional interview I've seen so far. I have nothing but respect for Mike. An amazing human beign after all he went through. Cuz Damato brought back that good will kid he had inside.
Confidence was a huge thing for mike. Cus used to pep talk mike before fights and tell him all this stuff “your a conquerer, a destroyer, a killer, a champion, your the best ever, destroyer or worlds” etc. he forged this man into a machine
This shows how a little love, compassion, and encouragement can change a person's life. There are many mike tysons out there that nobody ever heard about because they never got a chance.
The Cus and Mike love story and that is exactly what it is, is one of the most profound stories in recent history. A movie should be made about these 2 remarkable men. What they achieved was phenomenal.
“I take a spark and fan it, I feed the flame 🔥 until it becomes a fire, I feed the fire until it becomes a roaring blaze.than I throw huge logs on now u really got a fire going “🔥 Cus is the greatest... He turn tyson into a vicious animal
Mike's life is so complex, I'm just happy to see him happy after all these years. He may not have been a genius, but life has taught him so much that isn't written in books.
Mike is a genius to me. He soaked up knowledge like a sponge, applied it and integrated it with real life experience that teaches you things than can’t be learned any other way. True intelligence.
My Dad passed away in 2015 and I had a dream about him (haven't dreamed of my Dad in awhile) and coincidentally just rewatched this video on a whim and instantly felt Mike's message and emotions... He was the greatest man I've ever known... I would be in jail or dead if not for my Pops...a salute to all great dads out there!
Cus was the greatest example of a real man in the last 100 years or more. A warrior, and a poet. Hard as bone, and sweet as marrow. The violent fire laying waste to the forest's rot, to create the most terrifying beauty eyes can behold. His was the truest love that only misery and hatred can forge; the kind of love that only a broken soul can receive.
Cus was giving mike positive affirmations to instill in his mind that he can be the best and champion, and it worked. We need more people like Cus in this world, it’s very easy for someone to downplay someone else but very hard to find people who encourage, motivate, and release such positive energy to those around them.
I don't know if anyone ever realized this but a lot of Mike's mannerisms when he's speaking, how he speaks, how he articulates himself. If you've ever heard Cus speak, It's as if they're one in the same.
It makes me cry when I see Tyson cry. He has so much pain. When he says nobody will ever bully me again, he means nobody will ever make his life hell again.
You’re right. I’m 50 and saw the whole thing unfold too. There is nobody in spirts today that generates as much excitement and interest as Mike in his prime. In your words, “What a ride”! Damn right!
His dynamic w Cus was truly something beautiful. I love the way he will forever respect Cus for building his confidence and making him who he is today. Absolutely beautiful.
3:56 That little clearing of his throat isn’t him trying to actually clear his throat. It’s him trying to not let his emotions out and cry. As a man, I honestly do this exact thing cause we aren’t supposed to cry, men don’t cry. To think the baddest man on the planet was holding back tears is something else
The fact that his coach Cus believed in Mike more than Mike believed in himself is insane. I really wish I had an influence like Cus during my teen years.
Mike is so fucking real. He LITERALLY doesn't know how to be anything else. It is too bad that Cus passed and never saw how devastatingly unmatched Mike eventually would become. I swear, I cry I everytime I watch this. His honesty is so palpable, I think everyone can relate to it.
I always get goosebumps and tear up at the part at the end. That mixture of sadness and confidence is just awesome. That's the emotion I feel when I think if someone was to ever hurt my mom.
Be a Father to your children people.. It is one of the most sacred and important relationships ANYONE will ever have in their lives.. Experiencing the love of a real father is something that needs to happen to every single child born into this world.

@@willapple8145 Very true.
I'm gonna cry too Mike, that's awesome
Profile checks out
The strongest men are the ones who can admit that they’re afraid.
Mike is such a legend and you can still see that kid in him. You can’t help but to cry with him
This is why men need fathers.
It's touching to see the story of how Cus and Tyson filled a void in each others lives like father and son, while at the same time the best heavy weight champion of all time was being created. This should be made into a movie.
It will be Jamie Foxx will play Mike.
What sucks is that movie wont be made until Mike passes.
@@Einhander49oh god. Hopefully that's another 20 plus years.
cus is so true and pure. he didn’t see mike as dollar signs, saw the raw talent and absolutely believed in him. just pure love of the sport and mike
its like he was a monster and the monster change his life anything is possible godbless Cus D'Amato and mike
The realist human alive.one my all time favourite athletes ever.
Mine too buddy. I learned alot from him
For sure my favorite I put him above Ali, Jackie Robinson, Michael Jordan, etc. mike Tyson is more than just a boxer, hes someone everyone can be inspired by.
yes, Tyson and Fedor are my fav athletes ever.
A movie must be made about this.
A Father and Son story about saving each other..
One man kept alive with the will to live and a boy kept alive with his guidance and love.
It’s simply an epic story line and deeply gratifying to know. Only Scorsese could make this movie as it should be made.
When mike said “I started believing in this old man” that summed the whole clip up.
Cus Believed in Mike more than Mike Believed In Himself.. What a great human Being.. ❤️
Rest In Peace Cus 🙏
Good post from both you gents...
What was wrong with your father?
Touching story. Rest in peace Cus. Thank you for giving us Mike Tyson.
I like old people like Cus. They are our angels here on earth and we should love them and appreciate them while we still have them here on earth.
watching a wild tiger talk about how they were brought to peace is the realest shit I've ever heard.
Mike tyson boxing champ.
Huge respect to cus d'amato coach and all trainers.
Much love to cus as well. But Cus was more than a trainer. He was a father, a mentor, a savant and most of all a friend.
it's literally mickey and rocky
it's adonis and rocky
Rocky as a mentor isn't a grouch
look at it this way in Creed. Adonis is a young man rocky helps him with boxing and motivates him keeps him disciplined. While adonis motivates him to fight in life and keeps him running and motivated for life.
Yea, that's where Rocky took it from. Mickey copied one of Cus's speeches nearly verbatim.
No its better its real life
An old school, white, hard, no nonsense, disciplinarian boxing trainer, meets a young, unloved, powerful, ferocious, tear away, black youth. IRON MIKE TYSON is created.
I love Mike so much. I can’t help but cry when he cries. True warrior. Thank you, Mike.
I never had a father growing up & hearing the way Cus spoke to Mike breaks my heart. Mike can barely say Cus' name without dying. Love you Mike.
Every time I see this it brings tears to my eyes God Bless Cus 🙏🏾😢
Mike look so intimidating, imagine training that beast. Cus had balls to raise Mike, that couldn't have been easy.
You know what we are missing young ppl connecting to elders and elders motivation to help the youth and demand respect ppl don't help kids like they use to and young ppl don't respect and love elders mentors real mentors hard to find far few n in between the last era of real respect for elders and love of the youth from elders
You're right they don't want are advice.
Cus reprogrammed his mind and gave him confidence, love and trust. And Mike opened his heart and mind. Amazing!
🥲
The Cus and Mike love story and that is exactly what it is, is one of the most profound stories in recent history. A movie should be made about these 2 remarkable men. What they achieved was phenomenal.
6:12 look at the difference in skill. The other dude looks like a complete amateur compared to mike. Mike looks like a bloody machine...
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I never noticed that before. Shit!
That really puts things in perspective
“I take a spark and fan it, I feed the flame 🔥 until it becomes a fire, I feed the fire until it becomes a roaring blaze.than I throw huge logs on now u really got a fire going “🔥 Cus is the greatest... He turn tyson into a vicious animal
Mike's life is so complex, I'm just happy to see him happy after all these years. He may not have been a genius, but life has taught him so much that isn't written in books.
Mike is one of the very smartest men out there. Don’t ever think otherwise…
@@Paulco67 depends what you mean by smart. I prefer to call him wise
@@avarmauk I agree with you! Wise is the word 👍🏻
@@Paulco67 he is truly wise
Mike is a genius to me. He soaked up knowledge like a sponge, applied it and integrated it with real life experience that teaches you things than can’t be learned any other way. True intelligence.
Its so cool that tyson named one of his kids after cus. Just shows how much respect he had for him.
We need a Mike Tyson movie. His life story is quite inspiring.
Start at 7:38 you'll be crying..the only vulnerable side of Tyson when he talked about his father, Cus..
Cus was giving mike positive affirmations to instill in his mind that he can be the best and champion, and it worked. We need more people like Cus in this world, it’s very easy for someone to downplay someone else but very hard to find people who encourage, motivate, and release such positive energy to those around them.
His tears spoke volumes and didn't even have to say anything else.... Thank you for sharing that with me Mike Tyson
I don't know if anyone ever realized this but a lot of Mike's mannerisms when he's speaking, how he speaks, how he articulates himself. If you've ever heard Cus speak, It's as if they're one in the same.
Love, compassion and friendship. Cus d mato was the angel in Mike's life.
It makes me cry when I see Tyson cry. He has so much pain. When he says nobody will ever bully me again, he means nobody will ever make his life hell again.
Awww that was literally his father. I dont care what anyone says.
Buffy Summers I don’t think you understand what “literally” means
Last Earthbender 😂 no it isn’t
Last Earthbender Cus isn’t Mike Tyson’s biological father is he? If he was then yeah that would be what it means 😂
More like his big brother.
Them two loved each other like a father and son. He kept cus a live a few more years than would have lived other wise
Life is so crazy I'm over 60 and this man is still my Idol. Mighty Mike what a ride brotha
You’re right. I’m 50 and saw the whole thing unfold too. There is nobody in spirts today that generates as much excitement and interest as Mike in his prime. In your words, “What a ride”! Damn right!
Iron Mike. What a Legend!
Mike you still inspire me ..
Comeback to hear this every now n again...🙏
Incredible interview, Cus was one of a kind and Mike in his day was unstoppable
I love you Mike. Take care man...
Look at how his voice chokes when he talks about D'amato. That's raw emotion
We can all see that this was so much more than just a trainer and manager, they were father and son, period, no doubts
I always get goosebumps and tear up at the part at the end. That mixture of sadness and confidence is just awesome. That's the emotion I feel when I think if someone was to ever hurt my mom.
"He broke me down and rebuild me...." God dammn what a statement..
amen
Be a Father to your children people.. It is one of the most sacred and important relationships ANYONE will ever have in their lives.. Experiencing the love of a real father is something that needs to happen to every single child born into this world.
He kept saying affirmations and mike listened and believed
