I used this under some blackboard paint to make a message center on the inside of my front door. I could use the magnets to hang notes or bills that needed attention, and use chalk to right messages to other family members. I used construction Adhesive, to put up wood strips to frame it. One of my best ideas.
I kept trying to get my work to do that instead of sticky notes on the wall that continually fall off.... but they kept saying it's a stupid idea... some people just can't see the good ideas.
And as someone else said: what a great way to find your keys! put a magnet on the key holder stick em to the door.. no more rifling through purses - MAYBE. LOL!
I was just telling this to my wife. How is Leah such an incredibly amazing instructor and why can't others be just as clear and as knowledgeable as her? Leah is hands down the BEST instructor I've ever seen on building materials. Leah, please consider writing books about this!!! Seriously (my apologies for getting the name wrong first)
@@Nrscathy60 oh my God. I am so sorry. I was being so dumb. I swear I knew her name was Leah but then my mind got set on her username. I apologize and thank you very much for correcting me.
I have a map hanging up on the wall that had a different approach to be magnetically hung. The rare earth magnets attatched to the wall with anchors, and frame backer is made of metal. It made it really easy to hang and adjust, and I'd trust it through an earthquake honestly.
I did half a wall with this then blackboard paint on my kid's wall, and that was great. Except there was so many more layers than normal that you can see the difference with the naked eye, its crazy. But still it works good for my kid's wall at least. I'll also note that it was very difficult to get it to lay totally flat and even. There were a lot of small dips and rises. Nothing too big, but noticeable vs. regular paints/primers.
Be very very careful with small magnets around children. They have been known to swallow them with disastrous results. The magnets hold the bowels together with disastrous, necrotic results and even the surgery required is made very difficult and tedious.
Just wanted to say I've been watching and following your channel for year's. I've learned some tricks from you! Thank you always sharing. I hope to see many more.
Very clever. I recently bought some magnetite, Fe3O4 powder for making ferrofluid for my students. Never thought about how to use these powder in other applications. Definitely will show this to my physics students. Thank you. But I guess it may pose a long term issue for cleaning when used in household. When a magnet broken/shattered into small pieces that inevitably happens, it will be quite difficult to remove especially neodymium magnets are very brittle and the broken pieces are sharp. The top coat paint must be somewhat needed to glossy and super smooth.
Really cool product. Years ago there was a home manufacturer that made steel houses that had metal interior walls so could put magnets anywhere. I'd love a steel house! It didn't really catch on though.
I'm a huge fan of magnets--physics be damned, they're magical! A steel house would be lightning-proof, but also cell-service blocking. I once had an idea of repurposing a water tower into a house. They might be wind-proof (they seem to always remain standing after bad storms), but would have the same cell signal problem. On the other hand, the view would be spectacular.
@@fr3dfixit945 Still might be a way to make a signal booster to get reception inside? Or by a window? I like your idea. It could be next to a small house and be a storm shelter and massive bedroom?

For a large poster, you need multiple magnets, for example. Otherwise, if there is a cross breeze, the things will fly off, even with the special magnets. The 🧲 magnetic paint can interfere with wifi signals. This is important to know in case your have poor wifi reception. Hi, I watch all your videos and learned a lot from it! I am not handyman and don’t know much about maintenance of house keeping! I know I need wipeable walls and little shine would not hurt as well as durable and good finish and affordable! Deeply appreciated if you make videos on it! Thank you .TIA
Hi, Leah! Is it magnetic like does it attract paper clips and washers that are not magnetic or does it only work for magnets like you demonstrated in the video
I wondered if the latex paint reduced the effectiveness. The thicker the item you put under the magnet, the lesser the hold will be. Just like the further away a magnet is from a surface, the less magnetic attraction?
Hi! I just got this paint and it is SUPER chunky. I only have a paint stick to stir it 😩 I’ve put three coats on and there is ZERO hold. Did I get a bad batch??
Truevalue had this 20 years ago. They accidently placed wrong web address on product. My domain. I still get calls from people who visit my site. Glad someone else finally doing it.
Hey, you know everything, so here's a question: heat-reflective paint. like Cool Coat thermal barrier. Does it work? I'm considering painting an interior chamber of my house with heat-reflective paint, so that, if the heat ever goes out, I'll have a place to go and hopefully keep warm. I'm also contemplating heat-reflective survival tarps, but if the paint works well, I can ditch the tarps. Maybe? What would you recommend?
Youre very generous....I don't know everything. As for heat reflective paint it has it's merits however manufacturers play a role in the price and product effectiveness.

@J L good idea. jL. But I bit worry that will also damage the top paint . Worth to try.
Could damage the magnets with a heat gun maybe? They lose magnetism at 80 degrees C. Unsure if the heat gun damages the wall though.
