  • Paul Murdaugh, 20, of Hampton, S.C., faced 3 criminal charges on April 2019, in the Beaufort County boat crash that killed 19-year-old Mallory Beach in February 2019. Beach went missing after the crash. Her body was found a week later.

"Guilt" ??? Guilt for what ??? Being a stupid teenager who did something stupid ??? Paul definitely should've faced consequences for what happened to Mallory but given what I know about his case there is NO Way as a parent that I could file a wrongful death suit against him. Paul was a Fool. But Mallory was a Fool for helping him be a Fool. She apparently voluntarily participated in the events leading up to the mishap. What a Foolish Young Lady she was too for putting herself in a boat load of drunk teenagers in the dark on a river ??? I feel that SOME responsibility for Mallory's death should be put on poor Mallory herself to serve as a warning to all teenagers of how dangerous this World ca be. You must learn to be responsible for your own well being and not depend on others to look out for you.

You comment "You must learn to be responsible for your own well being and not depend on others to look out for you". I think not drinking that night was a good way of her "looking out for herself". She shouldn't have gotten on that boat, none of them should have, but that has nothing to do with the NEGLECT Paul displayed that night. Where was his "responsibility" for causing this accident and death????? In some states it's legal, I'm not sure about there. The reality is that all those kids were from well off families, they wouldn't be together if they weren't. & It's a very, very unfortunate thing this happens, but it happens a lot & it takes an entire community to put some effort in to stopping it. For all anyone knows, the driver was most sober, under the legal limit & voted to drive. that's typically what happens. I grew up in a town where a car accident happened every year. The full story never comes out till way later & it's rare for it to be that some kid just didn't care. & The survivors typically live with tremendous guilt. The yearly accidents didn't stop in my town until survivors could tell the full story & how it impacted them. & Until teens were told they needed to be just as responsible as adults when doing adult things. If all these kids had a history of causing bodily harm, it'd be one thing. But it's most likely that they were doing something very normal in their culture & made a mistake. It's not fair for a person to pay for an accident in the same way a person pays for the same outcome when it was their intent to cause that harm. It's absolutely fair for something to happen, but treat only the driver like a murderer when no one even knows if he was pressured into it, if he made the decision on his own or even came up with the idea....come on. The money is better spent on people who are seeking to cause harm.

Boating at two AM is so foolish. I went fishing in the Beaufort River with my toddlers and husband. That was FOOLISH! After catching two baby sharks, we realized we were in their spawning waters. When sharks smell blood, they go Rambo. We left quickly. There are submerged sandbars, debris, and alligators. One helicopter pilot told me he could observe them in the shallow waters near shrimpers. The only possible appreciation of the area would be in broad daylight. Poor Maggie. How disturbing to know your son is drunk and not home before two AM. The only thing worse is if it was your teen daughter. I do sincerely hope that Buster (Alec Jr?) doesn’t beat himself up for lending his brother his ID. And where does he go from here? That firefighter was burned alive in a fire started by a chronic arsonist despite knowing the risks, he didn’t deserve that though did he? Your logic is so incredibly juvenile, even the own damn justice system disagrees with you. It is not illegal to be a passenger and drunk, it is however very illegal to be drinking and driving. It is astounding that you have made it far enough in life to read, yet you cannot comprehend the idiocy you just spewed. Let’s hear it when it’s your daughter.

@@SpongeXtermiat0r94 Where did the original comment say she "deserved" to die? It didn't .... You don't like the idea of personal responsibility and you want to hate the rich guy. Having an innocent victim makes the hate seem like a noble thing. Any 19 year old person who gets on a boat with a drunk person at the helm is a party to whatever the final outcome happens to be. And here's another news flash for you ..... Everyone on the boat was a rich entitled ass.

@@ClintGrantham Your argument is nothing. You should have the floor cave in on you next time you go to a viewing deck because you “know the risks” you basement dweller.
