Still happy with the result after 5 years. I have not had the vapor lock issue on my EFI since then. I hope that you have the same positive result now that you have installed the second pump.

This seems to have fixed my vapor lock issue, at least - so far so good. I've been out on hot Florida lakes, turned it off for an hour and it started up easily and ran smoothly afterwards. I did not install the check valve that you mentioned.

@thebird95632 There were extra hose clamps in the package so I figured that I might as well use them. I'm sure one would be sufficient since there was only one on the original connection to the main filter.

Great video - Does the pump provide some pressure regulation or does it run wide open all the time, dumping all my fuel into the engine...?

Nice video. I too have the same engine (twins) on my Sea Ray 280 Sundancer and am suffering from vapor lock. So...did this fix the issue for you?
And did you also install a check valve that Mercruiser recommends for the raw water flow into the fuel cooler?

    Hi Barry
This is the issue that I have been having with fuel flow and vapor lock. Boat will just start bucking like it having fuel starvation. When hot it will just stall completely but you can start it right back. Crazy What is the kit Number and maybe a place that you bought it. Thanks so much I have been chasing this for months and came across this video. Thank you so much!

David, I bought the booster pump back in 2010 so I have forgotten where I purchased it. I'd suggests some searching for terms like "booster pump" and the model of your motor.

Hi, this post is old and probably you will not answer, but please, help ( twin 4.3s MPI ) in a 2004 Searay Sundance's 280.
Installing the pumps fixed my vapor lock issue, but every once in a while the Fuel pump fuse melts, it doesn't burn so I believe there is no short, but it gets very hot to the point that eventually it melts... so, what do you think Im doing wrong ? same cables and fuse for 2 pumps are being use now for 4... could this be my problem ?
    Thanks

Sorry Carlos but I'm not qualified to answer your question. Your theory about too much load for 4 pumps sounds reasonable though. Good luck.

If my fuel pump goes out, can I install this instead and have to takeout the existing pump. The existing pump is next to impossible to get to.

Danny, I'm not sure if this would be a workaround for failure of the primary pump. My guess is that it would depend on how the original pump failed and how much fuel is getting through it.

Did you completely disconnect the old fuel pump?

    • @kinrara1

This was installed as a booster in addition to the old, original pump. My old pump has continued to work well but it just wasn't enough to overcome vapor lock issues. I do not know whether this would be sufficient to use instead of the original pump.
