    This is exactly what people have been saying they want from Minecraft communication, I'm glad they're delivering on it. Even children don't like being spoken down to like children, so if mojang knows the average player age is 26 then they should definitely be doing more of this and less of that.

      Just before I read this post, I googled the average age of a Minecraft player, the response I got back was 24, maybe it's a Canadian average?
      I'm 53, started playing on the PS3 and PSP with the kids, I'm still enjoying it. Now on my own realm.
      The whole talking to players like five-year-olds so cringy.

      I think that is their main aim. The Trial Chamber will act as a central hub players get keys from and use in other structures.
      I think the vaults should either be indestructible or breakable with only nettherite tools to prevent obsessive griefing though.

    “for future players to feel like they can visit any structure they want.” so are they gonna bring this feature across the game to every structure, not just in the trial chambers?
    Also, watching that player with full netherite armor unlock TWO iron tools is just sad

      Yes, Brandon said on Twitter that if the Players like the Vaults, they will add similars to all other structures (but tweaked a little bit to fit with the structure)

      I mean, the trial chambers seem more like an early-mid game structure, so netherite is obviously overkill to begin with. The balancing currently seems to expect the player to be at iron tier, perhaps having just obtained a couple diamonds, so enchanted iron would be a neat upgrade for them.

    It would be cool if some structures had different types of vaults, like temple vaults, ender vaults, mine vaults, ancient vaults, trail vaults, nether vaults, bastion vaults, mansions, outposts,etc… , they would have different textures and they would need different types of keys. We could also had a normal vault, that was made by players and needs a specific key to be opened

      They seem to be alluding to that... in the changlog they said the player needs to have the "right" key, they didn't just say trial key. And in this video, brandon said that "for example, in the trial chambers, a trial key"

    Vault honestly should be on a cooldown like the trial spawners. It should be longer than their cooldown; however, the reason I feel it needs a cooldown is because when a particular player defeats a chamber and unlock all the vaults, they no longer have any reason to return. Putting the vault on a long cooldown would encourage exploration, while also making already discovered trial chambers not obsolete.

      The vault technically is a locked chest.... And what do you think will happen if there is a locked door, people will just break in... Minecraft only adds unbreakable when is really necessary, such as Bedrock, endportal, and ancient city portal looking things.... Unbreakable blocks are clearly something they don't wanna keep adding in sandbox game.... Realistically this is perfect since now they can adds this vault in strongholds, bastians, nether foretresses and more (on twitter king b dogz did say that vaults can potentially be added to other structures if they work well in the trail chambers)

    Why not put a cool down on the vault like the trail spawner? You said at Minecraft Live that the Trial Chambers would be full of challenges that players could go back to later and do over again and again, having the vault unlock once per player is defeating the original purpose

    I'm definitely liking this "more stuff for the mapmakers" tilt. Honestly, this should be how structure chests function all across Minecraft. Positive feedback upon implementation will get us that.

    It’s really great seeing netherite armor in the gameplay footage. The game really needed more end-game content and challenge that isn’t negated from a full kit. I haven’t personally messed around in snapshots, but I’m really hoping this update is the end-game longevity I’ve been needing.

      Well you also don't have the problem of having to share loot. It's a chest that also contains a fix for a problem that doesn't apply to single player worlds. It's still a chest.

      Since most structures don't have a unique to it loot item people would just make a farm out of the trial chambers and never need to go find any other structures they don't want that to happen most likely the reason

      Yeah, i guess the modders are better than the Mojang Devs. I feel like this update is pretty unnecessary instead of actually listening to the players and fixing some bugs. My world always got suddenly disappeared , and sometimes my skin too in MCPE, Idk why, but maybe i'm just the only one facing this annoying bug.

    A suggestion for vault loot: I think it’d be useful if the loot table could give players higher quality loot based on some form of player progression (a player in full netherite gear might not be too enamored by enchanted iron gear).
    This could be done by having vault keys with various levels, such that players can get higher level vault keys by returning the vault key to a trial spawner. Returning the key in this way could start up a harder trial, with the new trial’s reward being a higher level key.
    Let the key reach a max level of maybe 3-5, with the max level reward including a higher chance of diamond gear and/or maybe a unique item(s).

    Fun idea. For some feedback, I feel the structure of the trial chambers runs a bit counter to this “reusability” idea. The structure is made out of pre-oxidized and pre-waxed copper blocks, which are normally a bit of a process to obtain. Such a large amount of copper trivializes obtaining it. This means players will be incentivized to tear the trial chambers apart for the copper resources. The enemies and loot may remain, but I think it would be common for these locations to be torn to shreds on the large servers they are designed to address. Which isn’t as fun as a “mostly-intact” vault.
    As a solution, I suggest a new block type to replace the copper blocks. Maybe some nice blue stone bricks, we don’t have anything like that currently. Like microcline from Dwarf Fortress. Place microcline deposits all over the world like diorite/andesite/granite, so it isn’t a precious resource. Or hey, perhaps even add it to a specific kind biome to give the stone layers there some unique flavor.
    Just some thoughts!

    This is a great idea. It definitely has potential depending on the loot table. I recommend making it so that the vault is aware of trial spawners around it and maybe the harder they are the rarer the loot AND/OR the more players which increases the difficulty on the spawners, the rarer the loot.

      @@marshalllee6376other guy thinks that the tuff bricks and copper blocks look way too clean and fully constructed compared to the other structures, which with the exception of ocean monuments and woodland mansions, are supposed to be abandoned
      imo end cities look way more clean than the trial chambers and I doubt the shulkers do any housekeeping

    I really thougt it would be like, you name the key a unique name, so only you can open your vault en taken loot out of it, but other players can look in to it too. Like an enderchest, but everyone can look in to it, and only the person with the right key can open it.

    mapmakers could use the vault as a shop block in maps, key item being the cost(fx. 10 diamonds) and then a custom loot table which is what you're buying(fx. a custom sword)

      Okay so, this actually isn't a bad idea at all.
      Vaults have nbt values for the "key" item to be required and also the amount or "stack" of said keys that you'll need to unlock the Vault.
      Loot tables have a hidden unimplemented mechanic called luck, which can be used to increase or decrease the amount and the quality of the loot depending on a luck value.
      If Vaults had also an nbt called maybe "luck modifier" and "stack modifier" (stored for each player separately) that increase each time a player unlocks a Vault, you could make it so each time the vault will be more expensive to open but also will give better loot.
      Maybe some nbt that lets you set the maximum number of times the Vault can be opened by each player would go well with this. That way you can make it so each Vault has, say, 5 tiers of reward that you can get until it gets permanently locked

    I would change this reopening block a bit. I would suggest that after obtaining items from the vault, there would be particles visible to the opener that would indicate whether the player can open the same vault again (e.g. green for yes and red for no). The chance of reopening could be around 20% (not too much and not too little).
    I understand that finding new structures is important, but with the original solution, players may end up with chests full of keys.

      They definitely need a solution for leftover keys. I proposed that only the first use gives fancy loot and after that you can still use keys on it, but only get some building material or ingots or coal etc, so at least you can use them up and there is a point in fighting again. I like your idea with the particles to indicate the difference between already opened before and never opened

    What about singleplayer? If you have a bunch of keys for these things, you can only use one. The remaining keys will just sit in storage unless you find another vault. It echoes the already existing issue with structures in singleplayer. Can't we use it for storage after initially opening it or something, that way it's not a one-and-done block?

    If u make an update on mobs that was better because u update player but u forgot to make a change on mobs and make them such powerful
    You represent elytra to fly
    You represent shield to protect
    But that items are already so powerful
    Shield is like make players immortal

    I think you should add some important loot with the trial key, such as high level enchantment books, stronger potions, maybe even breeze rods or breeze powder.
    Here are my suggestions!
    -Breeze Rod: This can be dropped by The Breeze, as well as spawners and vaults. Using these rods, you can create powder or a new weapon.
    Said weapon would harness the wind blast attacks of The Breeze.
    Meanwhile, Breeze Powder can be used in a multitude of traps involving dispensers. When fired, a gust of wind fires out in whatever direction the dispenser is facing.
    This pushes mobs away from the dispenser's general direction.

      grander vision: Instead of the fire aspect enchantment you need to infuse the sword with Blaze rod and a template to get a fire sword. For a wind sword (that maybe sends a wind slash with better aoe range) you need the Breeze-rod and in the future there will be an ice and a lightning version etc ^^ it would definitely tie in nicely with the smithing table armor trim functionality

    Although I understand the idea of players going in search of more vaults in other trial chambers, I think it would be better if the same player could loot the same vault block multiple (unlimited) times, but with a longer reset time between, maybe an hour of real time.

      the cartographers are getting rebalanced so yeah it would be cool to see a villager trade you a map leading straight to the trial chamber, it would certainly encourage exploration and trading while not forcing the player to use chunkbase to find structures if they’re too far away

    I just played the snapshot and raided my first trial dungeon and unlocked the vaults. I love the concept and the idea behind such.
    Some improvements I hope for is since the vaults are a one time only per player, and I came out of the trial with several extra keys. Add these vaults to pre-existing locations. A vault at the top of a pillager Outpost. A single vault in the Jungle Temple. This will make it so if we cleared one of the structures out, find the key and then head back there for rare loot.

    Honestly I like the concept and am excited to see what else is planned for it
    And to everyone disappointed with 1.21.
    I feel like 1.21 is a framework for new more in depth dungeon exploration etc
    Let's say they wanted to update the end, this gives them blocks and mechanics to make some really cool structures.
    Let's say they wanted to make a revamped stronghold or nether fortress. Again this gives them tools to do that etc
    I'm not saying they will but the Trial Chambers seem like an experiment for bigger things.
    From the Breeze to the Vault.
    This feels like a basis to go off of. Especially since in 1.20 we got the last of the postponed 1.19 features.
    I feel like they learned that before promising things they need to have a foundation to build off of.

    I love how you've identified a problem in the game's designed and decided to solve it... for only the new structure. This whole system of repeatable challenge rewarded with vault loot would be an absolutely amazing thing to make use of for a general structure update. There are a couple of really old structures that definitely could use a bit of an overhaul after existing for around a decade now.
    Also, I really hope this won't be the only feature for the trial keys. With the overarching idea of adding more to the combat adventure aspect and calling back to some of Minecraft's more iconic features, surely this would be the time to get a third proper boss into the game, perhaps summoned by activating a special spawner and dropping the central component for a multi-block structure that finally disables mob spawns in an area without the need for torch spam.

    It is a great solution to the multiplayer problem, the only issue is that it needs to be used for a variety of structures to really help. Allmost everything with lootable chests really.

    The loot unlocked should scale with a player's equipped gear and level, so if you do go there with iron, you get diamond, and then later Nethrite, etc. Most structure loot is only useful during the early game.

    Regular keys could be useful in Minecraft, being able to lock a wood door and make it inaccessible like iron doors. And it could help in multiplayer by keeping others out of your room or area.

    I think that honestly... this should be expanded to *all* structures. Replace the spawned chest loot with Vault, and players will seek out Trial Chambers. Make a key an extremely rare drop from Dungeon-spawned mobs as well, which can be used there or at other structures, and there will be incentives to use them instead/in addition to more efficient mob farms, due to the rarer drop (just like how spawned Drowned have drops that converted do not). It would help servers by lessening how far players have to travel to get their own loot, elytras for anyone, etc. If you want to make *specific* loot require a lot of playtime to make up for raiding a bunch of structures across a map, then craft 9 keys into the next tier key, then again, etc, to get the best option from Vaults with a different indicator color of what its maximum *can* be. Someone impatient might just go for the lowest tier, while someone else will use a higher one. Exploration still would happen as structure vaults are all used up for a singular player, but *other* *new* *players* won't have to go out so far immediately. It would encourage working together and being more efficient over just breaking chests and letting things despawn if it doesn't have what *you* as an older player on a server wants, even if someone new might have wanted it.

    Ayo, @Minecraft... Could you add special armor trims from this thing? And perhaps a special enchantment (say for example a chestplate enchantment that reduces hunger drain, one that speeds up regen delays, one that has a chance of deflecting projectiles whilst taking no damage *but also not triggering the Thorns effect, maybe even something for all armor like knockback resistance) or some other special gear to really bring out the inner arena champion for all who survive and perhaps even thrive in the trials?
    Also wouldn't hurt to add lesser Deepdark mobs to trial chambers spawned in them... But minus Warden. Dark zombie-like shadows that inflict darkness on hit would be a very interesting addition to the Deepdark Trials, even though Deepdark Trials are a worldgen bug... Would still make for one interesting challenge to fight an unseen foe (if you slip up and get your eyes briefly cursed, that is...)

Armadillos are coming in a 1.20 update before 1.21, meaning 1.21 will have a grand total of 1 new mob. I hope I’m wrong, as around this time last year I felt the same exact way with 1.20 only weeks before that huge information wave…

    My only gripe with this feature is that when you return to enjoy it again you’re just gonna end up with a lot of useless keys (especially with that 50% drop rate) 🔑
    I appreciate how multiplayer friendly this feature is (I play with my brothers a lot) I feel ppl got their hopes to high up with this new Key (Warden dimension level theories 😂) that the reality doesn’t compare to the expectations.
    Maybe make em tradable with the Tool-smith or have some minor function outside the vaults so that they don’t sit in our chests collecting dust. Cause even in a multiplayer world ppl are gonna have A LOT OF KEYS if you want the Trial Chambers to be Replayable as well 😎👍

    It's great. Starting with continuing to activate the dungeon's reward system,
    It would be a really great feature if the structure of the dungeons also continued to change and the monsters were given randomness(but keeping in fair).
    Minecraft has no narrative function of its own story, so it is kinda multiplayer-friendly, but at the same time, it still has the disadvantage of giving an awkward feeling of empty space in both multiplayer and solo play. I hope they fill that void of awkwardness by being programmatically(?) stable and further expanding possibilities.

    To be honest, when the vault was first shown off, I was rather disappointed because I thought we were gonna get something more interesting, but it’s not a bad use for the trial key, and I can definitely see the benefit it offers. My only complaint is that you should be able to unlock a vault more than once because if you keep coming back to the trial chambers, your inventory might fill up with extra keys you don’t need.
