I appreciate when you record yourself struggling with simple tasks, unlike many other mechanic channels. It helps to know it happens to master mechanics too and not just me 😊
Three things I learnt 1.Use a heat gun on the fuel line instead of hot water put some dielectric grease/silicone spray on the metal fuel line.2.use dielectric grease/silicone spray on the filler hose & overflow hose to make them go on easier (both are better than WD-40) 3.heat both plastic & metal lines before & during fitment.Cheers.
The trick to working with that tubing is to heat the metal tube up as well. If you don't heat up the metal fuel line, when the plastic tube comes in contact with it, it immediately cools the plastic. By using a hot towel wrapped around the metal line, you'll prevent the plastic from cooling too quickly.
Thanks for showing your trials and tribulations along the way. Like others said I learn a lot from seeing how you deal with problems. Keep up the great work, Kenny!
Great Job. Seen the first video, glad you had the opportunity to fix it. Missing sending unit "O" ring, deteriorated inlet hoses, and "Jimmy rigged" fuel to engine hose, this truck was a roman candle on wheels in the works.
Thank You ! I knew a good bit after 40 years.... But have learned ALOT from you .... Thank you !! Great tip with the no use electric tools... I always keep a fire ext close by when I work with gas. I only did these shrink lines once and used a heat gun.. It rules ! Added a little mineral oil for lubrication.
The Ranger was chiming to thank you Kenny and job well done. Wonder how many second fixes you do? People are dangerous if they don't know what they are doing.
So, if I tell you that I may still have an ignition coil cassette for a Quad 4, which hasn't been made in over 20 years, on which side of that line am I? Lol🤣
That is terrible that who put thoes gas lines togethet, does not have any reguards to any ones life, that could have caused an explosion, thank god you found it and fixed it right.
I diid learn something about those shrinking fuel lines. Experience Tips are always welcomed. I do go " Crazy " and clean up. It's personal pride to leave no evidence. Also should a future leak would occur, the exact location is easily pinpointed. I find it quite useful in chasing oil leaks.
I've never had hot water stay 'hot' for 10 minutes maybe 5 if your lucky. Normally to get on I have to refresh it at least every 3-5 minutes or use a metal cup and a mini/cup heater, that works great. If non fuel I use a soapy mixture, it helps with the sliding bit, never use silicone oil/grease as it stays slippery enough the hose can walk off literally by itself as it never dries.
@@thecuss6817 I'd rather drink mine. isopropyl would suit as you can get wipes in different percentages with some water added it'll not evaporate quickly.
Nice at you marking those joints.its easy and its sometimes must thing to do.its hard work to do if its wobles.splinswersion can go so many different position if have to pull it half.t joints are easier and near the box and rear its not always mean nothing if its wrong.but its easy and make sure that always balance keeped.
Two reasons not to do that, (a) yes lubrication will help the tube to slide on but will also help the tube to slide off, (b) brake fluid is likely to damage the rubber fuel hose, as fuel hoses are generally made of nitrile rubber whereas brake hoses are made of EPDM rubber.
When I saw the welded on pipe to the cat converter, instead of the original flange, I knew that you were working on a rust bucket. That's why it was put up for sale. Now the new owner is stuck with it.
Kenny, I watch all your videos. I get it you’re not a videographer. Don’t worry; I understand what you’re doing If I lived near you I would be a customer. Unfortunately I’m on the west coast. Bay Area California. 😅
Om Du inte har specialverktyget för tankarmaturen, så brukar PVC-avloppsrör 110/125/150 fungera på låsringen. Kapa lagom längd, slitsa med vanlig såg för öronen och borra hål för kvastskaft i överkanten🤓
A heat gun or a hair drier is all I use to install those repair hoses. That plastic cools off way too fast to get them on all the way when using the hot water method. That's one of those repairs where whoever did it should never work (or attempt to work) on a vehicle. Vaseline works real good lubing up a hose to get them on.
WD40 is different than just plain fuel. Now fuel hose may be different and can handle it, but why take that chance? They say never to spray a carburetor with it and that uses fuel. Many people have ruined tires with it.@@kellismith4329
That's probably why the first guy gave up and put rubber fuel line on 😅 After 45 minutes on his back in the driveway trying to get that plastic soft enough they threw in the towel😅
I get such a kick out of watching a video on an EXTREMELY POPULAR channel, and seeing them using rechargeable power tools. I sit back and wait for the explosion! (that OBVIOUSLY never happened) Do they REALLY forget about the sparks off of the motor brushes? BRUSHLESS tools SHOULD be ok, as long as they are VARIABLE control. Straight toggle on/off MIGHT still spark. It takes an honest man to make a mistake, and eat it, without "caught". Strong conscience!
I replaced my truck bed, just six bolts in the bed and 3 screws for the fule intakehose and unplug the lights at the back bumper. Wouldn't have had to drop the tank at all and everything is at reach from the truck setting on the ground.
That is true, I am behind times, I use to undo the u joint at the diff and pull the other side out of the tranny with the yolk. It had to go back on the right way.
Just somthing that i saw one time on how people are not smart ok i was at a river getting ready for a boat ride and these 2 weman was airing up a floating device with a foot tire pump with a gauge on it and we all know those pumps dont put out much air and the boat people is wanting to go but the weman cant at there floater air up fast enough one women said its not working cause the gauge isnt moving ha ha and i know with a floater its never going to move its all about volume not pressure in them things

I appreciate your kind words. Some jobs definitely go sideways. Thanks for watching. Keep wrenching!
it nice to see a pro make a mistake, like we all do, but is willing to correct it, so the job is perfect. I admire that.

As a mechanic myself, I realize that we love to save everything in sight.
Yeah, I just mess about with car repairs and stuff so I definitely have my "Bits Box" for those spare, useful odds and ends.

That HF transfer pump works great. I bought one and used it to remove old gas from a fuel tank on a 1971 C10 pickup that had sat for years.
I was so happy with it that we got another one for the shop. Thanks for watching. Keep wrenching!
Didn't know about the wrench trick, thanks mate. You're fine, as long as a drop of fuel, doesn't land in the heat gun.
Yea, Mrs Wrenching gave me hell for that. Thanks for watching. Keep wrenching 🔧
Nice job! I was going to comment that the fuel pump looked like it was leaking, but you caught it.
That is terrible that who put thoes gas lines togethet, does not have any reguards to any ones life, that could have caused an explosion, thank god you found it and fixed it right.
Winner winner chicken dinner great job Kenny. Take care of yourself and family and friends and be Blessed ❤️❤️👍.
Perfect!! I was thinking of the heat gun befor even the first one you crimped lol. Thank Kenny keep wrenching
Resolution of the mistakes and problems is usually the most instructive part of the videos. So keep making mistakes!
😂 in the words of my mother 'do as I say, not as I do'. You're absolutely right, though. Mrs.Wrenching said the same thing. Keep wrenching 🔧
Thank you for the tip on using wrench to get the correct line size. Very helpful. Could you use a serpentine belt for the lock ring?

I use alcohol as a lube for rubber hoses and plastic hoses, it evaporates where soapy water will leave a residue.

Cheers from Nova Scotia
Quality teaching, thank you.
Well done brother Kenny! Nicely done video. I liked the tip of using an open end wrench to double check the line size!
Thanks for watching, Glenn! I hope you are doing well. Keep wrenching, brother!
I had to do this once. I heated the water in a microwave until it was nuclear hot. It was the only way to get the hose hot enough to go on.
I found that it is so much easier to just pull the bed when working on the fuel tank of Rangers
I have done that too. It wasn't hard getting out. Catching the hoses was the worst part of the job. Thanks for watching. Keep wrenching!
I would recommend lubricating the metal tube with a light coating of brake fluid since it contains silicone and won’t harm the motor.
Kenny, I found when they don't go on all the way take a hot wet rag and wrap it around the line and let it sit for a few minutes.
Good idea! Thanks for sharing. Keep wrenching 🔧
Hello Mr Kenny, I missed this video when you first posted it. 😮 Hope y'all have a great weekend sir and great job on the ford. Thank you sir
Thanks Bobby! I hope you are doing well. Keep wrenching!
Another great DIY mechanic educational video. Thank you Kenny 👍

You have to love engineers, I wanted to kick several in the teeth when I was working. 😅
Thanks, Kenny.
Try MolyKote 111 compound for lube you can get it from your local bearing house.
OTC makes the fuel pump tighten tool .

Gasoline is flammable.
You really should not use lube on those type lines. Also not to bash Kenny, but you really should not use WD40 on anything rubber.
@@jthonn if the wd40 dissolves the hose, I can’t imagine what years of fuel flow would do to it

So funny. I was thinking picker butt and heat gun from the get go. Because I don’t always follow instructions.
Dude a spray of Silicone in that fuel line would of changed the game. Thanks Kenny keep wrenching

Do newer Fords still use those clips on the fuel lines? I know they used them in the 90's when I worked at a Ford dealer for a while.
They come with the fuel filters for my 93
Try some fuel lube on the barb will help
Was there any flooding in your area praying for y ou

nice!,,try doing this job laying on the floor working on a chevy blazer,,,lol

cant believe somebody would kink the intake hose that bad and leave it.
It would be simpler to lift the box off the back of the truck, it isn’t very difficult

I love to repurpose stuff
Me too, I repurposed my x wife now I have a quiet garden with big melons.
Was taking bed loose an option?
Yes, I have done it that way too.
Brake line looks about ready to rust through

I would have installed a small hose clamp on the plastic fuel line.
Those are designed not to use clamps, the clamp could actually damage it.
I have a cool trick for safety besides just not using electric tools on fuel stuff. I will post to my own channel.
We do it right cuz we do it twice

That is true, I am behind times, I use to undo the u joint at the diff and pull the other side out of the tranny with the yolk. It had to go back on the right way.
