John Randle had an absolute MOTOR! He was a man who just kept coming at you no matter, where or when during the games. More importantly, he had FUN & enjoyed every moment! Played the game the right way!
Yeah man he did have a motor. I didn't realize that until watching this. If i was on defense, i'd be saving my energy when there wasn't a play going on. I can only imagine, but he looked like people didn't want to play vs him. "Nah, I'm hurt this week, coach"
I loved that man on our team. He was the heart and soul of that defense every time he was on the field of play. To this day, he still has the heart and soul of a Viking Warrior!!
@@Dagzfromearth There’s only one person on earth that can loosen up any guest, and that’s Pat McAfee. His Marshawn Lynch interview is a perfect example.

The Football player John Randle nearly about never happen. Realizing this is a great tribute to the man compelled me to share a story. Randle was trying to get onto the football team. Coach said he wasn’t big enough. Frustrating the then undrafted defensive lineman. Not being one to give up he returned for the weight in. He was just barely over the minimum weight requirement at 250 lbs. Little did the coach know Randle had a little help from above. It was a chain he hid while on the scales. I know what you’re thinking. He cheated right? Wrong. He had the intelligence to understand that the coach didn’t realize the greatness within. In turn , it’s that quickness that led to multiple pro bowls and a headache for offensive coordinators.
Oh please. The coaches probably knew he wasnt 250 lbs and he probably got extra points for thinking of a way to cheat. If they were really serious about the requirement, they would have made him strip all the way down (at least to his underwear).
@18:51 he's chillin with his fellow d-linemen before the game and one of the DBs comes up trying to him. Randle was like "why did he come over here"? Some funny stuff!!
He's one of those guys (Steve Smith also comes to mind) that if you're a fan of the other team, you hate him for three hours, then admit that it was fun watching him.
Back when Cunningham and jeff George were throwing it up to moss Carter and the underrated Jake Reed and also underrated running back Robert smith who retired after they lost 41 0 to the giants where Kerry Collins I think just threw another touchdown.....
With Randiel McDaniel, dixon and Christy and him they had some road graders on that underrated offensive line , that's why Cunningham and jeff George and culpepper were great also besides robert Smith
No Viking fan alive can say a bad word about John Randle....an undrafted non-stop wrecking ball that played football with pure Joy and love for the game. Today's game and rules sure miss the John Randle's of the world.....there are so few of them.
I loved Randle but I’m not sure he’s even the greatest Vikings DT ever.. Alan Page won nfl mvp if I’m not mistaken, as a defensive tackle.. which is unheard of.
Can you imagine being an offensive lineman and having to try to block AND listen to John the whole game? Must’ve given those dudes nightmares during film sessions!

A very undersized dl that wasn't prob even drafted I'm not sure about but I'd say he wasn't supposed to make it now he's in canton
I couldn’t agree more!!
What a beast. Need more energy like this in the NFL today.
There is just watch mic’d up

Can’t get it like this. 😉
Political correctness is a thing now unfortunalty
Agree everyone is just so stale
Big dawgs gotta eat!!
They dont show it in this video, but when they lost a big game, he cried his eyes out. Dude was driven on pure emotion.

This guy was incredible. He played on a couple great Vikings teams. They should have been in the Super Bowl in ‘98 vs Broncos.
Get this man on Pat McAfee

He was Aaron Donald before Aaron Donald! Short, stocky guy with immense speed and power. O, and walked on...in the nfl! Who does that as his level?
Kinda is for a defensive lineman
Kinda like a buffer Trent Cole
@Jason Luong that’s definitely short for a DT. It’s a big reason why he was undrafted and barely made the team
