For everyone who doesn't want to sit through the whole video: - Hayter started voicing snake in his normal voice, then after peering through MGS1's script, he thought Solid Snake was a more veteran-like character and needed a more raspy voice, so from then on he recorded in the raspy voice we've all come to know and love. -Hayter has not resigned from voicing Snake, and would be willing to voice Snake again in the future. -Hayter isn't exactly saddened to not be voicing snake in MGSV. I find it interesting that people are surprised he can still do the MGS1 voice. He's a professional, of course he can. The main reason he sounded the way he did in Peace Walker and MGS4 is because the VO director (Kris Zimmerman) will have told David exactly how to say his lines. They wouldn't have used the takes they got in the game unless they were happy with them.
I think that rumor came from the reaction to the fan-made MGS game trailer. Even though here David is saying that he used the young snake voice in it, in the trailer he definitely uses old snake voice. Here he definitely proves he can still do young snake though!

20:00 Solid and Liquid aren't perfect clones of Big Boss, they're basically his twin sons, they were put in EVA's womb and were born from it, and they don't have the same exact DNA as their father. Solidus, on the other hand, is Big Boss's perfect clone and they have the same vocal cords.
An amazing thing about David Hayter is his ablility to recall the lines even from the first MGS that he`s been a part of. This means, that he really gave his heart to the character of Snake. That`s one of many reasons I respect him for.
When Hayter talked about saying "Get a room" in his Solid Snake voice and the guy jumped to his feet, I imagined an exclamation point appearing over his head complete with sound effect.
What's funny about when you guys were talking about how the interview ended up happening and said "David Hayter interacting with the fans!" is that he actually does interact with them often. I think it was on my 22nd birthday that I tweeted saying how awesome it would be to get a happy birthday from Snake/Big Boss and a like a minute later I got a DM from him saying happy birthday. I love the way his actual voice sometimes have hints of Solid Snake's. Seems like he's been doing it so long and is so passionate about it that it has really becoming a part of him. Seems like a really decent guy, too.
I can't stop playing that "I won't scatter your sorrow to the heartless sea..... i will always be with you...... plant your roots in me..... I'll not see you end as ashes...... You're all Diamonds" scene over and over, and i can't imagine David doing it better. It's so solumn and subdued and inspirational. Although, it's all the same tone, i think if he started to portray some anger after the plant your roots in me.. like building in anger with the "i woN'T SEE YOU END AS ASHES...... you're all Diamonds".

How would you guys like it if at the end of MGSV's story after building up motherbase how you want to be impregnable and finishing Big Boss's epic conclusion into villainy you watch the credits and all of a sudden after them you play a short sequence as Solid Snake trying to infiltrate the very base you just spent the game building. It would be epic, we need to tell Kojima to do this!
DADchs13 The last third of MGS5 will be playing as Solid Snake infiltrating Outer Heaven, voiced by Hayter. You'll effectively play through a remake of the original Metal Gear, with the final boss fight of the game being against Big Boss, who you've just played as the entire game leading up to that point. Or that could be what MGS6 ends up being, if it's even called that. They may just do a reboot and simply title it Metal Gear. Hayter will be back at some point though.

I'm kinda just throwing out crazy theories of what I'd wish to see if we lived in a world where Kojima was even more insane than he already is. David Hayter is such a gentleman and friendly down to earth guy. Great to see how much respect he has for his fans. Much respect to him too. Metal gear was such an important part of my childhood. So gutted to see what has become of the franchise.
I want to personally thank David Hayter for his role as Snake, I mean...that voice became Snake, and its a part of me, of my memories, I'll always have a good time trying to imitate his voice whenever I play [any] videogame, really, my impression on Snake's voice is one of my favorite things ever. The iconic Metal Gear series are part of me, and also David. BTW, Watchmen is a really good movie...so, good job writing that too. :'D
David Hayter also voiced a character from the Gundam universe. Not many people probably know about that. For me, I love Big Boss, because his story is tragic. Beginning with the Boss's death, his life takes a downward spiral to the adversary he later becomes, and I imagine Phantom Pain will be the beginning of that.

I can kinda understand why Kojima ousted David, but at the same time, I feel like it does more harm than good. Most of us fans have gotten over the hurtle, and Big Boss IS the same character, but I just wish they would have kept him. Sutherland doesn't have enough of that gruff in his voice, and without it, I feel less attached to Big Boss. I think it would have been better if they started out with David Hayter in GZ, then after the many years in his coma, Big Boss' voice is different, switching over to Sutherland. Glad to see that he is still in business though :)
Cave Johnson Prime well with age,your voice does change.Young BB(Naked Snake) sounds more like Solid Snake,therefore David was still perfect.In PW,he hadn't aged that much so it was still ok.In MGS4 though,he was very old so Richard had to do it.

It sounded like he was referring to the voice actors, but used their character names inadvertently. Otacon wouldn't be in MGSV, but his father Huey would. So when he said Otacon, I'm sure he meant the voice actor Christopher Randolph, who voices both, and when he said Colonel, he meant Paul Eiding, who could very well be voicing some additional character, not necessarily Colonel Campbell. Campbell would still be a little too young in the events of MGSV to have Paul Eiding's older voice.

I grew up with Hayter's take on Snake. I remember my best friend staying over and spending hours playing through the various games and quoting Snake endlessly. Now that I've had a chance to play the newest game, I do like it, however it is missing something. Perhaps I'm just overly-nostalgic, however I miss Hayter's voice for Snake. Maybe I'm just getting older, but the newest game just doesn't feel the same. You were awesome, David, and I'm glad you had such a long run. Even if the series is finished, you did an awesome job.
I still have a firm belief that he is going to voice SOLID SNAKE in MGS V. Why? Cause you can't have Big Boss and his clone son talk to each other with the same voice. You can't change snakes voice but Boss has already had multiple voice actors.
Also the way the went about it. They obviously have to tell us he's not involved, because if they said he was then we all know Solid Snake will be in it since Big Boss has a diferent voice and the surprise would be ruined. Not saying he will be in it, just saying it would make sense

Naked Snake has nothing of Liquid and Solidus, and has everything of Solid Snake, because the retarded haters from MGS2 wanted to play as Snake.
Hell, he even took Solid Snake's signature and is fucking called "Snake" to reassure the player that they're playing as Snake.

I find it interesting that people are surprised he can still do the MGS1 voice. He's a professional, of course he can. The main reason he sounded the way he did in Peace Walker and MGS4 is because the VO director (Kris Zimmerman) will have told David exactly how to say his lines. They wouldn't have used the takes they got in the game unless they were happy with them.

I think that rumor came from the reaction to the fan-made MGS game trailer. Even though here David is saying that he used the young snake voice in it, in the trailer he definitely uses old snake voice. Here he definitely proves he can still do young snake though!

An amazing thing about David Hayter is his ablility to recall the lines even from the first MGS that he`s been a part of. This means, that he really gave his heart to the character of Snake. That`s one of many reasons I respect him for.

What's funny about when you guys were talking about how the interview ended up happening and said "David Hayter interacting with the fans!" is that he actually does interact with them often. I think it was on my 22nd birthday that I tweeted saying how awesome it would be to get a happy birthday from Snake/Big Boss and a like a minute later I got a DM from him saying happy birthday. Dude is just awesome.
I love the way his actual voice sometimes have hints of Solid Snake's. Seems like he's been doing it so long and is so passionate about it that it has really becoming a part of him.

Although, it's all the same tone, i think if he started to portray some anger after the plant your roots in me.. like building in anger with the "i woN'T SEE YOU END AS ASHES...... you're all Diamonds".

How would you guys like it if at the end of MGSV's story after building up motherbase how you want to be impregnable and finishing Big Boss's epic conclusion into villainy you watch the credits and all of a sudden after them you play a short sequence as Solid Snake trying to infiltrate the very base you just spent the game building. It would be epic, we need to tell Kojima to do this!

DADchs13 The last third of MGS5 will be playing as Solid Snake infiltrating Outer Heaven, voiced by Hayter. You'll effectively play through a remake of the original Metal Gear, with the final boss fight of the game being against Big Boss, who you've just played as the entire game leading up to that point.
Or that could be what MGS6 ends up being, if it's even called that. They may just do a reboot and simply title it Metal Gear. Hayter will be back at some point though.

I want to personally thank David Hayter for his role as Snake, I mean...that voice became Snake, and its a part of me, of my memories, I'll always have a good time trying to imitate his voice whenever I play [any] videogame, really, my impression on Snake's voice is one of my favorite things ever.
The iconic Metal Gear series are part of me, and also David.
BTW, Watchmen is a really good movie...so, good job writing that too. :'D

For me, I love Big Boss, because his story is tragic. Beginning with the Boss's death, his life takes a downward spiral to the adversary he later becomes, and I imagine Phantom Pain will be the beginning of that.

I can kinda understand why Kojima ousted David, but at the same time, I feel like it does more harm than good. Most of us fans have gotten over the hurtle, and Big Boss IS the same character, but I just wish they would have kept him. Sutherland doesn't have enough of that gruff in his voice, and without it, I feel less attached to Big Boss. I think it would have been better if they started out with David Hayter in GZ, then after the many years in his coma, Big Boss' voice is different, switching over to Sutherland. Glad to see that he is still in business though :)

That's normal because already they have met in the beginning of MGS Portable Ops so yes cournel or campel is part of MSF.
It sounded like he was referring to the voice actors, but used their character names inadvertently. Otacon wouldn't be in MGSV, but his father Huey would. So when he said Otacon, I'm sure he meant the voice actor Christopher Randolph, who voices both, and when he said Colonel, he meant Paul Eiding, who could very well be voicing some additional character, not necessarily Colonel Campbell. Campbell would still be a little too young in the events of MGSV to have Paul Eiding's older voice.

I grew up with Hayter's take on Snake. I remember my best friend staying over and spending hours playing through the various games and quoting Snake endlessly. Now that I've had a chance to play the newest game, I do like it, however it is missing something. Perhaps I'm just overly-nostalgic, however I miss Hayter's voice for Snake. Maybe I'm just getting older, but the newest game just doesn't feel the same. You were awesome, David, and I'm glad you had such a long run. Even if the series is finished, you did an awesome job.
I still have a firm belief that he is going to voice SOLID SNAKE in MGS V.

Cause you can't have Big Boss and his clone son talk to each other with the same voice.
You can't change snakes voice but Boss has already had multiple voice actors.

25/10. Couldn't have asked for better content from your channel. I've followed you since your TGN days when you were riding the Skyrim hype train, and this is probably my favorite content I've ever seen from you even if you were only a part of it.
It genuinely upsets me that they got rid of Hayter honestly. The fact that he's gracious about it to a certain degree is great but that doesn't change the way that Konami and Kojima treated him. Couple that with the way they handled Ground Zeroes and this long time MGS fan whose been playing the MGS games since the original Playstation and has owned every single release in the states more than likely won't be playing MGSV.

I held off for a good solid month or so before actually purchasing it BUT I had nothing else to play (had already run through the entirety of The Witcher 3) I thought the mechanics were far more fine tuned and I was glad to see that but yes for all my bitching about Hayter I did eventually buy it.

***** It's alright. I like the gameplay mechanics but the characters and the story are just kind of meh. It feels like if you took an MMO and slapped the MGS name on it and threw in some familiar characters (Which I have to wonder how much of the game wasn't as refined as it could have been given the controversy with Konami and Kojima). In short, it's not a bad game but it's not a 10 out of 10 game of the year in my opinion.
