    love the vid as i've just come across these radios to add to my collection. JUST PLEASE don't dangle shoulder mice off the antennas like you have at 6:40 🤣🤣.

      Thanks! :) Out of curiosity, what's dangling the mic on the antenna do?

      @Distractor_Beam Reviews the mic is one of the 'American Cop style ones that you have the radio clipped yo your belt and just have the shoulder mic on your shoulder

      @@distractor_beamreviewsIt can bend or sometimes accelerate the wear and tear on the rubber outside layer of the antenna (the antenna’s rubber sleeve will break off exposing the metal inside).

    How do you get the software for a CP200D

    Cp200D are also single band only. There are no portable dual band dmr radios (or dual band consumer analog radio) made by motorola (except for mobile radios with dual brick or the apx 7000/8000)

      One must keep in mind that the Big/\/\ radios that are dual band only work in FM mode or P25 tier 1or2 only. They do not make a dual band DMR radio. Simple reason is that most public safety requires that radios operate within a universal system after laws were changed after the communications fiasco that took place after 9-11. Also the sound quality of the P25 formats are far more superior to DMR audio.

    • @chamian1167
      @chamian1167 8 месяцев назад

      @@Subgunman I would argue that DMR & P25 Phase 2 sounds very similar (at least my local system does). P25 Phase 1 sounds miles better than DMR though

    Yes the big M is the supplier of software BUT when they no longer sell it there ARE other alternatives. The major issue is that one must keep computers to support older software. Back up copies must be made every decade since some media will fail after time.
    If you use original SABER radios, you need legacy 8088 or 286 machines running slow enough to properly read and write to these radios. Timing parameters were tied to the slow microprocessor timing of the computer and the slow legacy comm ports. Newer Waris based radios like the HT600 line still use DOS programs but no faster than a 486 based machine. The newer the radio the newer machine one needs. Programs run with DOS, WIN 95, 98, XP, 7, 10, 11. Now consider one needs to own a machine capable of these platforms to keep legacy programs running. This is not cheap since you not only need to keep the parts for these machines available in case something should fail.
    Please don’t complain if a dealer wants to charge you a fee for programming these radios, it’s more of the cost in computers than the actual program itself.

    • @distractor_beamreviews
      @distractor_beamreviews Год назад +2

      Cloning copies all the preset frequencies from one radio to another, so they'll all be able to talk to each other if they're all spun to the same channel.

      That might be an issue. Rumor has it that if you intend to operate it in the amature bands, have a valid amature license and the radio is capable of operating in the Ham bands they might be able to sell you a program for the radio but there are several issues you need to look at. First, is the radio capable of natively going down to ham bands? Second if it has been programmed with the latest software, it cannot be programmed with older software, and as far as I know from what I have heard sending it back to Motorola to get blanked and re written is not cost effective. Fact is that all of the major suppliers of commercial radios have been forced to sell newer software that prohibits the use of wideband modulation. The other issue is can the newer radios support wide band. A lot changes with the receiver on narrow band plus audio processing changes as well.

    You do realize that anybody could get the hold of those frequencies that you guys are using by just simply using a scanner with search for frequencies along with pl's & dpl's so regardless of you blurring the image on the camera and whatnot all it takes is somebody like I said with a scanner to go into search mode wait for you to transmit and you've just given everything away as far as your frequencies and channels and whatnot so I would be very careful doing that because we've had instances in our business that we ended up having to go over and use IP based phones because of the fact that people had constantly started jamming us and we ended up having no choice but to go the other route instead of using two-way radios due to the fact of Jammers jamming our frequencies and we never gave out any of our information at all and when we found out that is how this person had gotten ahold of everything using a simple scanner decoding everything in sight that just compromises everything so no matter what you do if you make any more videos and you decide to blur everything out just keep in mind that's not even good enough
