This comparison was superb! Incredible helpful as I am shopping for a set of walkie talkies. It's difficult to know what model to go with... should I get digital v. analog... etc. You have helped me immensely. Thank you!
Great comparison! I think Digital R2 is far better than the analog ones. 1. Is the new R2 a DMR radio ? 2. Does it require a license ? 3. Does it use repeaters anthenas over the city to get extended coverage in transmitted signal ? even to communicate across cities ? Thanks.
1. Yes 2. Depends on where you are but likely yes 3. It can, or it can be programmed for simplex operation or both 4. Yes, with an IP site connect system
Hi ,I'm using Motorola XIR series with both handheld sets and DMR with repeater SLR 5300 of motorola but I find one problem while the signal is very clear ,there is always Garbled Voice almost like talking underwater or like drunken slurred voice What might be the problems
Guy doing the grinding has a face shield. Guy with the radio doesn’t even have a pair of safety glasses. Maybe next time it will be something to think about. Radio sounds great.
Thanks for the comment, glad you thought the audio sounded great! Both guys here have the highest OSHA safety certifications available, and all necessary precautions were taken. They also weren't near as close as the camera made them appear either.
So can the R2 radios be programmed to be analog? I work for a production company and we stick with analog because we used to get really bad delays with digital radios.
Just bought 2. Thank you for the great review.
Great test conditions and demo!
Glad you enjoyed it, we're looking forward to performing some more tests like this in the near future!

Absolutely!
I also work in production - can you elaborate on what digital radio you had that caused such delays? I'm curious for my own research!
Where can I get them before having to speak to a sales rep??? What’s that about just sale me
