I watched the movie and then Googled for J.C Daniel. . Documentary is very touching. . A man tat deserved to be honoured was not even treated as a deserving citizen during his last days of life. It was made known in the movie that the children were far away when he passed away. . One question rose in my head. . how could you allow your parents to live in such a depilated place and condition... am sure he had his enthusiasm at cinema that lead to this poverty that he ended in.. but end of e day am sure he had the family's best interest in mind. .. All the recognition and praise only after he is no longer alive. .that is very sad. .
Social history of Kerala is to be rewritten. The story of the oppressed and neglected majority was thrown in darkness. You have pointed your torch to that social darkness. Thanks Kamal.
Every Malayalam film actor, actress, and their fans and the whole of Malayalam film industry itself rests on the foundational shoulders of Mr. J.C Daniel, dear sir Salute to you - the title of the Father of Malayalam Cinema was grudgingly bestowed on him as I read from the internet elsewhere. What a tragedy to have died in drudgery and penury. Just think of it, to have the courage and the motivational spirit to go the length to achieve in a very rigid cultural environment is something to be noticed and imbibed. But some relief... there are at least 89 comments at the time of writing this...to be a Malayalee means to crowd only on the beaten track!!! The history of a great man who is supposed to be the renowned and pioneer of Malayalam movie was purposefully buried for the last 85 years. All the credits were denied only because late J.C. Daniel belongs to a backward class. This is the organized act of the bureaucrats and fanatics of the Kerala caste system who always want people from certain caste to win all. How could this happen or let it happen in a place where they call the most literate people in India lives.
Really painful. I belong to his native near Kanyakumari. Which made me painful is, he was a doctor who was not cared after his failure in the movie till his last life. This is a village but it doesn't mean that all of us here are under poverty, it means that v don't like to destroy our culture and nature by constructing more buildings and industries.

Every where,u can c such flashbacks.in olden days,people who r in this field where not respected.Wen our parents die only,v will remember their hardship to bring us up.It happened here also.In Tamil Nadu,Nadar caste is equal to Brahmin cast.so it may not b because of caste.U can c in Palayam M.M.Church cemetery,the biggest n different monuement is for great the greates artist Mr.Sathyanesan Nadar's.
