    1080p 50fps HD!
    An afternoon/evening at Boxley Tunnel on High Speed One, luckily for me it wasn't too cold bit surprising for December weather. Featured in the video is a Class 373 (E300) on a test run, made my whole year as their my favourite traction/train in the UK, got to love that sound when they pass at speed. Throughout the video features plenty of sparks from both the Javelins & Eurostars. Managed to bag myself a 20min video even though i was there from around 14:40 to 20:20. Was on call to my mate the entire time though however. Also managed to fix the focus issue i had by selecting manual focus instead.

    Great video mate. Nice to see the Eurostars in use but its so hard for me to justify going all that way to see a reduced service 😥

      I'd been wanting to go back to HS1 (partically Boxley) for months now I went quite a distance myself to get here (from Cambridge) via train. I had to go into London then to Chatham then bus. Wasn't too bad really and would happily do it again.

    Great video for the moment (even though I haven’t watched it all). I read your description, why was the E300 doing tests? Do you know by any chance? Thanks 😉

      Not 100% sure, think it may be to make sure their all working correctly as they aren't used on Eurostar services at the moment.

      @@RichardChalklin I see. If that’s the case then I hope everything will be fine and they’ll be able to circulate again (they’re my favourite trains). But thanks a lot for your reply ;)

    Great video!!!!!! Serious sparks on the pantagraphs!!!!! Is that a adjustment problem on the train itself or overhead wire problem??

    • @Ed_Gilbert
      @Ed_Gilbert 2 года назад

      Because of the speed of the trains you get a lot of sparks because the sudden changes in height of both the overhead wires and the tracks make the sparks occur regularly

      @@Ed_Gilbert Thank you so much for the explanation. That makes sense now. How many volts are the supply wires feeding the trains? Thanks again and cheers from the colonies! Happy Christmas to all!!!!

      @@charleskirby6143 I could be wrong as HS1 is quite different to the rest of the UK rail network, but my guess is that 25,000 volts (or 25KV) go through the overhead power lines as that is what the rest of the rail network uses. Hope it helps.

      @@charleskirby6143 25,000 volts, the same as the rest of the network uses apart from those lines with third rail electrification, same as SNCF.

      No, this was only a test run. I've recently found out 7 E300 sets are coming back into service at some point this year hence why they've been doing these test runs.
