There is a place to change coins just didn't find it!
its okay mister see dog
did you guys ever cook the fancy ramen?
nice.
Better late than never, I suppose
hey connor you and mouse should play temtem together. great mmo pokemon game.
I was phenomenally ill after this shoot.
Never again.
X to doubt
Is that true?
It may be the owner of the store who thinks that
always the best with Connor😅
It's alright, Chris. Blink twice if Connor's holding your family hostage to get you into doing these videos.
You look great, Chris! Lookin slim!
I remember that Mr. Burger machine. I often wake up in a cold sweat still craving him
i miss being a smiler mr. jschlatt.
Fr
ohh, and here I was wondering why this place looked so familiar...
Should've done a collab
you also got some delicious Coque'Dasses.
Funny enough Akidearest did a review on that place just last year and found it quite delightful, but of course Conner and Chris being the fine British gentleman they are would judge it with out Mercy 😅
John Daub also visited it and wasn't as merciless Chris and Connor haha. He also interviewed the owner and went a bit into how the machines are maintained and restocked.
@@Trackers89 john for me is the best japan blogger on youtube
Schlatt also
yeah visited & re-visited on YT over the years, those mentioned and also TabiEats many times (who overall enjoy it, like others)................ I'm honestly shocked by this video bc it's long form, so harsh vibes, and there's no context of why it exists (the tire shop owner is a vending machine junkie who bought a few retro machines for waiting customers but it became a "thing"). The owners prepare/source foods for the "fresh" items daily. The machines are also under constant DIY maintenance bc being so old with OE replacement parts unavailable.
This video is sadly brutal & borderline irresponsible. Like ok fine ... ofc these days it's probably not even konbini level food... but not sure how u go to a retro vending machine owner's passion project and just absolutely take a dump on it... especially with the platform these guys have. Did they not talk to masta?? for an almost hour long edit????!!!! bc everyone else does
Conner's milk shake brings all the boys to the yard and they're like 'why is it hot' and you're like 'I could teach you but I'd have to charge'
Ok but also why's it spicy?
@@michaelpopowich5095 I could teach you but I'd have to charge lol
The curry machine at 22:10 is actually run by the guy on the machine! He grows the rice it's served with and refills the machine like twice a day to ensure freshness. Hands down the best quality thing in that whole lineup.
Nothing beats scat machine though 8:46
Great big story enjoyer?
@@forg1ven399and they're back
Well this year that farmer will turn 79 after that interview.
I remember it cause of Great Big Story.
Chris: Trying his Best to be the Fittest he has ever been this year
Connor: Let's try all the Vending Machine Food in Japan
Chis: I will eat healthy food.
Joey, Connor, Sharla, the entirety of Tokyo creative: A'ight, bet!
Chris and Connor need to make it official and get married.
@@sayantanmazumdar3I like to think that Sharla made a deal with them so that she could keep her Chris Belly Cushion
I'm not gonna lie, he looks great and really fit!
Joey: Bucket pudding challenge
As an American from California, Chris’s American accent is spot on 😂 35:50
(In California) in NJ, personally... it sounds californian. Which is in America. So that counts.
He literally sounds like a different person.
i was shocked by how good his accent was lmfao sounds like any white man you meet on the west coast fr
Do you know the country music playing in the background?
Hahah it really doesn’t sound like any normal Californian but the inspiration is definitely from Cali
Watching them struggle to peel the seal on the orange juice with the straw dispenser literally behind them was hilarious.
I like how a couple of months ago, John Daub did a video at that same place, interviewing the owner and showing how he maintains all the vending machines in his collection. Chris and Connor show up and they're like, "Food's kinda shite, innit?" 😂😂😂😂
British innit
Scotty from Strange Parts was there a few months ago too.
😂😂😂
Ah, John Daub, The OG English-speaking J-tuber. His 'Only IN Japan' videos were good, but I think his optimistic personality wasn't liked by everyone on the internet.
They're British, they are socially and contractually obligated to complain about stuff even when there's nothing to complain about, innit?
Chris and Connor ripping open the orange juice when the machine has straws you can use is just... classic.
They’re trying to save the turtles 😅
@@MrVocalover So that Connor can eat the turtles right?
Typical brits think they know everything. Different food ,Different tastes.
@@kaysani4320it’s orange juice.
the way that editor -san always writes a brief explanation of random facts that the boys ask and have no idea the answer to makes me happy.
I’m disappointed they didn’t eat the batteries, that’s a good snack, goes great with honey
And the amount of energy it gives can let you go through entire week
Chris plans the wacky weekend: “were visiting this historic shrine and beach paradise”
Connor plans: “today we are going to try a Japanese dish consisting of nothing but worms and chili peppers”
The duality of man
Kaho: "We're going to the Penis Museum"
@@kevsonkeyboard They already did that episode XD
Chris: "It's the beach episode!"
@@gamerboy7962 ruclips.net/video/50p94kVSp8k/видео.html
I can't belive Connor got a Sunday Times best-selling author to be on his video only to expose him to the risk of food poisoning.
Food poisoning is not an illness, so it's fine 😂
@thewhutnow5795 I knew someone was gonna write this.
Ghekos dropping their tsv
14:00 i would imagine its not a "hot milkshake" but a "milkshake" flavored coffee drink; considering the machine is for, assumingly, all hot coffee; judging by the window and name
Chris and Connor should do an episode of wacky weekend but they have to speak in their American accents the entire time
the fact that Connor's stomach would survive both a crazy amount of vending machine food and Emily's cooking is a literal miracle
Nah he gets tons of food poisoning, his stomach is incredibly fragile
@@HouseMDaddictNah, his stomach is strong, but his immune system is shit. 🤣
@@HouseMDaddictthankfully he doesn't believe in food poising
He has a British food stomach
Who's Emily
I'm living for Chris turned into a kid for a sec and never giving up until he gets that toffee apple lmao
I loved the vending machines in Japan. During winter, I'd sometimes get myself a hot can of coffee, and in the summer, I'd get a Fanta. Of course, back then, it was the 1980s, so there weren't that much of a variety as there is now. Nowadays, you can get pizza from a vending machine, or bananas, or prophylactics, umbrellas, clothes, and more...wish they had this here in the US.
For once these two don't go to a seedy love hotel - and they still end up with a pair of handcuffs. Iconic.
I honestly think we don't hear enough of Chris' American impression, its so fucking good it caught me off guard - 35:50
Also that justification for why tofu udon is called kitsune udon is wrong, Japanese mythology says that foxes love tofu. That's why it's called kitsune udon lmao
SAME I was not ready for that!
@@Channel-gz9hmwhen it became the predominant accent that people abroad encountered in movies and stuff?
@@Channel-gz9hmThe surfer dude/Cali accent and southern accent are very exaggerated but clear ways of speaking so they're the easiest American accents to do. While midwest and east coast accents tend to be either more subtle or way less clear (the Maine accent in my opinion), they tend to be harder to replicate unless you have a very good frame of reference.
Lol sounds funny
Chris is looking really good in this. He looks a lot healthier in this. Glad to see he's taking care of his health
The story behind that place is actually pretty cool. Dude just has a good time restoring antique vending machines he gets from all over the country.
it's so funny watching chris lick a big candy apple while connor role plays as a detective with a camera
Also, he never read to us his own fortune 🤦♂️😂
I saw an interview with the married couple who manages the machines or the tire shop or both anyways, most are just glorified microwave meals however some of the food in the older machines are cooked, and processed into the machines by the wife who is an amazing cook even in the video you can tell whats made by her and whats just a frozen meal.
Probably the Only in Japan one by John Daub or his friend who was also doing one

This sounds wholesome as hell, may I know the name of the interview vid?
gotta give us a source dawg
I posted a link to the video before you 2 guys posted but I guess it was shadow banned for the link.
Look up Only in Japan with John Daub, "How japanese food vending machines work"
@@fakename12345 thanks boss
Having battery vending machines would have been absolute fire back during the Gameboy days.
i loved this video! always wanted to know how many different options these machines had, so much variety!
Its cool how many differing experiences people had with this place. Aki, Jschlatt and now Connor Abroad. This place is truly a place of magic and asbestos
Strange Parts and Only in Japan did videos on these as well: ruclips.net/video/gzxW3B3_Pak/видео.html
Ericsurf6 has been here many times. He was with his sons here a couple of months ago.
This is the first time I’ve noticed how healthy Chris is looking. Chris Broad is now Chris Thin.
It's definitely not something you notice until you pay attention, but once you do, you're like "wait a minute, he's lost like 15% of his weight since last time I paid attention. His face has changed a ton, too."
Or is he ... Chris Broad-Shoulders?
@@Naokarma Chris said he rebound a bit. If we retrace the videos, he's most likely in his thinnest around February-March.
He's "de-bigged".
'Chris Narrow'.
This video was incredibly enjoyable, and I really love it when you guys explore weird stuff like this
Great video guys. Love you and Chris doing stuff together.
For anyone curious, the ramen chef on the "gourmet" vending machine is none other than the "Oni of Ramen" Minoru Sano! He had a legendary shop in Kanagawa back in the day, and was sort of a strict Gordon Ramsey-type figure in the ramen world.
Chris' American accent actually changes his voice completely 😂
Makes him even more Frankie Muniz
around what time was the american accent part?
around 35:35 @@Minutes-iw2kq
Accent almost sounds like an AI or he’s going to narrate videos about ghosts.
It was terrifying
My favorite part of this video is when Connor said “man is surprised when freezer is cold.” I swear to god i died laughing.

He sounds almost totally american when he streams solo
Connor really wants Chris to get food poisoning, what a good friend :)

no joke that's how I found out when I kept getting thirsty after drinking 4 liters of water and doing nothing for the day
36:58 I was quite surprised that Chris didn't appreciate the stiff knob
Their time spent together in love hotels sure suggests otherwise.
And here I thought Chris was finally free from the food torture since Connor has been doing it together with Ludwig recently, but apparently Chris cannot escape this fate 😂
I watched a video recently on this place and the popcorn machine. The owners wife is the one who makes most of the food. Which I think is really cool and gives it more charm. But the first machine having a nixie tube display is super cool.
Also how does Chris look younger in this video than he has in the past year?
I think it's rude how much they just complained about $1.50 foods, I'm just disappointed by this one
@@cmcrisp42 They're brits, I am not surprised at all.
He doesn't have a goatee - that'll take years off your face.
@@vorpalrabbit4927he also lose weight. New haircut as well.
@@x9x9x9x9x9 I completely understand that, but this was way over the top. I've never seen them be this critical before the video even started. They've had some pretty bad looking things in the past but they never insulted the food in front of the people or at the establishment that served the food. This was just being a jerk for no reason, and it's even worse finding out the wife of the owner personally makes all of the food.
22:43 Cruelty Squad eating sound effect lol.
the editing in your videos is glorious
38:18 The "dish" served here is お茶漬け "ochatzuke" it's lit. rice with tea poured over it. Connor is mistaken it for お粥 "okayu" which is the "rice porridge" you often eat when you get sick.
Yeah, I thought what they were saying was weird. Aside from Ochazuke being delicious.
I love how Conor shows the real side of Japan. Not everything is a 10/10 and super duper clean and amazing like all these influencers make it out to be.
No single place on earth will ever be perfect throughout imo.
I hope people start realising this
i know this is a show and sensationalized, but they are also extremely picky and whiny about the slightest things. most places in the world have a bit of dirt and grime to them, 90% of the world lives outside big cities where stuff isnt always NEW
@@skunkwerkz777 I mean yeah Conor can be miserable sometimes. It could be worst he could be living in India lol
Connor and Mr Affable are real people though.... Influencers are trash and should be ignored at all costs.
@philo2189 i felt that
This video was so entertaining. Chris and Connor have such a good chemistry together. I Could'nt help but watch it till the end!!!
You to have "maximum chemistry" for great videos. Please keep exploring!.
There was a video done not too long about by John Daub, and you gain a lot of appreciation for this place when you hear the owner's story behind these machines.
Most entertaining 53 minutes I've seen in weeks. This was so much fun to watch! Also, Chris looks another 5 years younger. This makes 10 now. I am both proud and impressed.
That's what happens to a man when he gets a cute Japanese culture focused girlfriend! The years just melt off... ;)
I will simply never get enough of Chris and Connor. And I mean that from the depths of my heart.
This is great editing. Very enjoyable
27:26 literally killed me. The relative silence and the effect on the face were perfect
Ah yes Conner's Doctor probably screams at him for doing these food videos, Especially the Chip one for example.😂
I like Chris concocting a made up scenario over that awful hotdog being someone’s favourite food, then getting angry over his own story.
One of the best videos on the channel :) watching it again
I cannot take the in-n-out burger slayer from a British person 💀
I mean, at least Brits have real food. Often shit one, yes, but real. Not whatever fake abomination the Americans are fed and told it's "food".
It's hilarious that all the other videos people have made here are extremely positive but Connor and Chris were extremely unimpressed
I normally mindlessly skip past ads, but Chris & CDawg are putting there lives on the line here, so I'll sit through whatever they're selling.
Or just get a ad blocker for your browser. Most are free and work exceptionally well.
@@jonathanporter5223Adblocker isn’t gonna work when the ad is in the video

I always skip them. Never care for that
Feed me orange is dope; we have them in carparks around australia and i call it at least "carpark orange juice'. I was so happy to see them here in Japan when i arrived. But pro tip you always want your friend to get the first cup, as sometimes the first cup can have some old juice in there, the second cup is pure freshness.
The Cruelty Squad eating sound effect at 4:02 just warmed my heart.
Drinking game: Take a drink every time chris eats something that is the "first thing that actually tasted good" or whenever one of the lads says that whatever machine they are at is the "one thing" they were looking forward to
This guy has some really old machines maintained to this day. I think it's fantastic. Retro charm! They do seem to fill them daily with fresh locally made stuff.
Hi Connor. Please pass this message on to Chris: "You seem to be trying the "when Hawkeye went to Japan" haircut again. You'd look great with a disconnected undercut with a drop fade for the short bits. We have similar shaped heads and it's my go to. Real low maintenance. Keep it long on the top and ask for some thinning shears texture. Good for days when you feel like styling and awesome when you feel like doing nothing at all."
It also grows out well and you can avoid getting a haircut for a bit longer.
So, apparently, the owner of the tire store just really likes vending machines, and picks up out of service machines to refurbish and put into the line up... that's it, that's why the vending boardwalk exists.
Chris doing his American accent was funny af and surprisingly good
Its impressive how they can stock and maintain all these old vending machines.
Amazing job on the latests pyrocynical video!
22:19 when I saw the curry vending machine, I had to see if it was the same one from the great big story video. It totally was!
Oi them fighting words mate 2:32
Chris is basically unrecognizable from any angle except head on
Lmao I had to double-take for a second until I saw the tag, he looks great!
Lol, pretty sure that picture on the 'Potato Boy' box was of Lady Oscar, an anime (French Revolution themed) which came out in the 80s and which was insanely popular in Italy and countries which could receive Italian tv transmission - I remember everyone was mad about Lady Oscar in my school - we all watched it dubbed into Italian. It was when I first realized that anime does not guarantee a happy ending.
Chris: What do you think the miracle is?
Connor: (without a second thought) Depression!
10:08 😂
For the kakigori machine I guess it wasn’t working properly for Chris or something, cause in Aki’s (akidearest) video the syrup came out properly and it actually looked good.
Don’t sh*t on the rice and curry machine. There’s an old man that cooks, and restocks it himself everyday. Not only that, but he even grows the rice himself.
Freaking love this series! 😭😩Always makes my day frfr
Seeing that last vending machine with it the film. Took me back. I grew up in Japan on a military base. And I’ll never forget every field trip wherever we were go . To the zoo, or museum, or to Summerland. They would have those vending machines everywhere. So if you ran out of film on that, disposable camera your mom sent you with. You always had a back up.. I had totally forgotten about those 😊
Oh, and by the way, @abroadinjapan if you want to know more about the history of that place, John Daub did an episode on his main channel. Only in Japan. A couple of months ago. You should check it out.

I find this mans Channel every couple a months and just BINGE because I know he got some good content after me being a rock on the road for a while 😂😂
I am bemused, and slightly terrified, by the idea that there are still companies out there that make the food to go in these ancient vending machines!?!
Everyone knows that vending machines just get stronger the longer they exist. Like modern day Gods...
The guy from A Day in Japan covered this place and the guy who owns it all and how some of the machines work and are refilled. Purty interesting
I still wouldn't eat it
As far as I've heard from other videos, a lot of the food for machines like this is made by local companies, and stocked daily by the owner and his family. They do the repairs themselves, too, with whatever parts they can find or manufacture/juryrig themselves.
I can only wish to be as happy as Chris with his toffee apple what a cheerful lad
i just love how the level of sass doesn't double, it quadruples when they're together
yay longer videos!!
22:08 Omg is that the legendary curry vending machine, if i still remember correctly this vending machine is always getting restock by an old sweet guy, and by the way packaging and the curry itself makes me wanna try it.
We need more of Chris’s American accent😂
With all the youtubers out in Japan. I have to say, Chris and Connor are the best, by miles.
I noticed i binge watch cdawg anytime im going through an episode
A near-hour long Wacky Weekend episode... This is heaven!
When will Connor and Chris try every health drink in Japan
When Connor officially turns 30.
When their doctors force them to.
My favorite part was that brief moment where Chris stopped pretending to have a British accent and showed us his real voice.
Good while it lasted.
I hope you guys develop the photos from the instant cam!
And cook the frozen stuff at home haha
Cool place tho!
That toffee apple looks like it materialized right out of a food anime. It's perfect
As a person born, raised, and living in the U.S., I must say that you each have convincingly good impressions of American accents that could almost pass as genuine...Almost.
