As someone who collects action figures, I knew they weren't going to make any money going to a reseller. They are never going to give near full price because they need to turn a profit on what they buy. Like Connor said, you could make a profit by selling to other collectors if you're willing to deal with all that comes with doing that.
100% this. The more middle men there are the less you'll get because they need to take a cut. It goes the same for selling used video games or trading cards. I once talked to my local card store about selling some of my old MTG cards. They literally quoted me for 30% of the online price in cash and 50% in trade-in. I said a big 'nope' to that, went online, listed it myself, and got 80-ish% of the online value because, of course, Ebay and sites like that ALSO take a cut.
That's not entirely true. It just doesn't work if you walk cluelessly into an arcade and throw some money at some machines. It's important to know which figures are worth what before playing, so you can decide to play a machine based on the value of the figure rather than the assumed popularity. Also you'd want to visit several arcades, and avoid the major ones (SEGA/Taito). And you'd probably want to sell them to resellers in Akihabara rather than Shinjuku, as they generally offer a higher price. Once you got the flow going its actually fairly easy to make profit - if it wasn't you wouldn't see so many Japanese people doing it. Though you won't get rich
@@Squarecubez you clearly don't understand. And also if that shop is nearby and the prices aren't significantly more than online why would it be stupid to buy there instead of waiting for shipping. If you don't wanna shop there for ethical reason then do you lol

I really like that Connor showed that selling them isn’t really a scam. If you’re good and you’re able to get a bunch of figures for 3-5 dollars spent and turn them around for 7-8 profit you can make money. It’s just hard

@@CloudCollapse Well recently eBay has taken charge of International shipping in a recent update, they pretty much foot the bill for any custom influxes. So you pay the base price of whatever it is (Roughly $10 if doing USPS Ground Advantage) but they pay the import taxes etc. So it has become quite easier to do shipping overseas and not be double what the price actually was you paid for it.
I love how in every video that isn't Connor centric, Kaho is the older sister of mass torture. And in every video that is, she is the small child asking if she can have the plushies she just found.
I think you should ask the shop what figurines they basically would need and then you can go to the crane game machines and find those figurines. Maybe that might help out for your future. Keep up the great work I love your content.❤
I could be mistaken, but these shops also exist at Pachinko Parlors to avoid some gambling laws: ball-bearings for plushies for back-shop cash. If our heroes didn't travel far from the UFO center, the values would be a little less than if they went to a distant collector shop, or if they used an online collector marketplace perhaps. Still, price is fair enough!
10:42-10:46 The summary of the whole video. And absolutely not surprised that Kaho didn't sell the Dragon Quest stuff...I wouldn't have sold it for ¥300 each either. Looks like a fun time, either way...and you guys were able to win loads of stuff.

Hey connor congrats on the 3 mil subs dude, love the content and how your career is going. It's such a trip to remember that you were doing black buttler videos. Anyways congrats!
So the lesson is: making Japanese claw game prize winning a legitimate, profitable side-hustle *_REQUIRES_* selling and shipping them to other countries!
I just came back from Tokyo and before going to the arcades I watched lots of pro videos to study their technique. Most of the time the claws are terrible for picking things up: you're better off nudging and pushing. It does take some practice to understand how each machine behaves (and each one is a bit different) but ultimately the strategy is pretty similar. I think I'm most impressed that Connor's greatest success came from the hand machine which is more rigged than the claws.
I’d love to see Connor have a crane game versus with a RUclipsr who is basically wholesome incarnate, Minori! She plays crane games on her channel all the time, she’s super sweet!
Seeing Kaho go up against the Palm of Judgement, I realize that its totally possible that they up the difficulty when a machine is cleaned out or stock gets low.
I think if they instead sold the items on eBay International, they could have actually made a lot of money considering that they sell at much higher prices and are rarer outside of Japan and China.

Very insightful on how the appraisal works, i wish i knew about the 2nd hand stores when i went crazy on cranes when i saw a prize i really liked when i went there on vacation
fun fact key master and its alternatives are almost always rigged with drift. for keymaster you can tell when its ready for a payout when the key hits the bottom of the lock instead of the top. unless its the green keyhole (where all the holes are the same size) then those ones are skill based by default (though at least here in the west they kick you out if you win them too much), also watch out for key masters with a notch at the bottom of the key because those are fake keys that will always hit the bottom and never win. the hand one I dont know exactly but im pretty sure it drifts to the right a bit more.

How did you sell stuff overseas and did you report the income for taxes? Did you have overseas buyers pay for the shipping?
@@CloudCollapse Well recently eBay has taken charge of International shipping in a recent update, they pretty much foot the bill for any custom influxes. So you pay the base price of whatever it is (Roughly $10 if doing USPS Ground Advantage) but they pay the import taxes etc. So it has become quite easier to do shipping overseas and not be double what the price actually was you paid for it.
Whoever at Namco thought of the advertising move should've gotten a raise lol
Bro is the crane game goat! 🐐
@@namelessking111 👍
No kidding I love seeing Connor n Kaho together, I could watch them not talking for 10 mins straight.
28:18 machine, I saw a claw player youtuber say the green circle is useless, just use the claw directly on the box to push it to the side.
Kaho is always so positive, I love her for it
I love how in every video that isn't Connor centric, Kaho is the older sister of mass torture. And in every video that is, she is the small child asking if she can have the plushies she just found.
Kaho and Connor is always a welcomed sight in my notifications.
Only gotten into watching Connor like week ago because of the crane game stuff I came by through chance. So its pretty cool to catch an upload the moment its uploaded.
"Put the box in a good position and you get sumimasen'd a lot
Teach someone to properly grab it and you feed a whole village"
or something like that
You know you’re in for a fun ride when Kaho joins Connor for a bit of tomfoolery, lol.
Awww I loved Kaho’s little “can I keep some 🥹?” Like yes qween take them all 😭💗!
I love when Kaho is in Connor's videos, she seems like such a nice person.
Hey connor congrats on the 3 mil subs dude, love the content and how your career is going. It's such a trip to remember that you were doing black buttler videos. Anyways congrats!
Thank goodness you're back for Crane Game vids! Miss it so much
You know the video gonna be unhinged when Kaho is in it, absolutely love this duo
These past couple months it seems like the edited is just amazing, it's hilarious and literally transforms the videos
Great to have you back! Hope there's no more sponsor problems.
20:40 Eminence in Shadow is a good show it so much fun. And that character is Alpha❤
Waow~! A very educational video. And I'm now completely convinced that we're getting totally ripped off in retail markets. Thanks, Connor and Kaho~!!
love connor just jamming along to the hand machines music xD, also mudan's editing is always on point
So the lesson is: making Japanese claw game prize winning a legitimate, profitable side-hustle *_REQUIRES_* selling and shipping them to other countries!
Connors sheer dissapointment by the end of the video trying to hype himself up but remembering the pain everytime the guy spoke was priceless.
I love the live commentary from your camera guys lol. Definitely a keeper.
I love these crane game videos, they're always so fun with the great editing
I love Kaho so much. She is the greatest thing that the Trash Taste Verse has introduced me to.
I am as hopelessly addicted to your crane videos as you are addicted to crane games. It's a match made in heaven!
Seeing Kaho go up against the Palm of Judgement, I realize that its totally possible that they up the difficulty when a machine is cleaned out or stock gets low.
Great choice on keeping the DQ stuff, and that Snorlax plushie/backpack is also pretty awesome. Exquisite taste!
I think if they instead sold the items on eBay International, they could have actually made a lot of money considering that they sell at much higher prices and are rarer outside of Japan and China.
Not to mention that trash taste as well as connor and kaho fans would pay more because it came from them
@@vt_hikaru thats not the point of the video
@@FirstYokai Neither is selling them online, as specifically stated in the video multiple times, so both comments aren't "the point".
Not that that matters in a comment section.
I always miss your adventures with Kaho I'd love to see more videos like this and you guys also checking out cool and out of the ordinary places again I really enjoy those videos so much!
Kaho and Paul is a duo I wouldn't expect but a definitely a welcome one
Great video Connor, cool seeing you and Kaho again
The Big Head Kaho edit going HMM with the Ram figure was HILARIOUS 😂😂
I can't comment meaningfully without spoiling something but a other banger from cdawg and friends
Edit: 45 seconds later: Kaho spoils it and drops the absolute best quint take I've ever seen on the internet that Miku is best girl
Conor: *Needs to make money and immediately goes for Chrollo*
Me: *Excellent choice*
Hi Connor, I'm here from the RUclips Experience video and I just wanted to tell you how amazing of a person you are. I've been following you for a couple years now and always got the feeling you were a genuinly good person in real life too. You're making everyone's day better with your videos by spreading positive vibes and making us laugh. Thank you for everything 😊
I feel like the people saying its a "scam" dont understand how retail works.
They need to sell them, so theyre obviously NOT going to buy them for the same price you can sell it yerself.
Bahahaah dude this was awesome to watch I was so stoked for you then saw the hope drain for your eyes when dude kept telling you the prices 😂 seemed a ton of fun to shoot though!
Kaho and mouse must really get along for their infinite love of cinnamon roll plushies I want a stream of them just talking about Sanrio characters and cinnamon roll.❤😊❤
Kaho was on Mouse's talk show a month or two ago. There's a video on Mouse's channel.
wow learned alot. nice vid as always connor, love kaho too.
Having Chris as a cameraman is not a feat that's easy to achieve
I also thought it was Chris filming Kaho cuz their voices sound so similar, but when you go to 16:19 you can see it’s a different bri’ish bloke
it's paul (chris' cameraman and editor) and julian (the RV stream cameraman)
connor and kaho are so me im a grumpy brit but at times im cheerful i love u guys sm😭😭
The woman helping them win the prizes deserves a raise
Very insightful on how the appraisal works, i wish i knew about the 2nd hand stores when i went crazy on cranes when i saw a prize i really liked when i went there on vacation
There is no way he's gonna make money, unless it involves selling cinnamonrolls to mouse 😂
Even then he still loses to shipping fee
He could have gotten even more than the double by selling them overseas lol
something about this video has a feel good vibe and exactly what i needed
fun fact key master and its alternatives are almost always rigged with drift. for keymaster you can tell when its ready for a payout when the key hits the bottom of the lock instead of the top. unless its the green keyhole (where all the holes are the same size) then those ones are skill based by default (though at least here in the west they kick you out if you win them too much), also watch out for key masters with a notch at the bottom of the key because those are fake keys that will always hit the bottom and never win. the hand one I dont know exactly but im pretty sure it drifts to the right a bit more.
Interesting, very interesting
Connor, loved your sponsor btw! I remember playing battle cats years ago! I still love the game whenever i get a chance to play it, have it on a tablet and pixelbook as we speak
Any video with kaho means a fun time. Connor with the caffeine control 😅
Love the humour in the editing. Kaho and the door got me
I’m currently in Tokyo, for a vacation, and went to an crane game place the other day. First item I got was a 20 dollar chainsaw man figure for 2 dollars. I was so happy :D
Whats with the moaning sound in the background at 15:51 🤣. BTW, it’s great to see another vid after a few months. We’ve missed you man 🤗
Connor is clearly the best crane game player, lets ignore the other attemps
I think this got potential to be a great series honestly. You should keep this one going Connor. Is pretty good
I’m kinda surprised Connor didn’t get in trouble for clearing out that one machine; I got kinda used to the crane shops saying “only 1 win per machine”
Didn't he say something about that machine having 'leftover' figures? Maybe that's why.
I'm pretty sure the pushing games you can only get 1 if its a big prize
