    I am an Arkansas Cherokee living in Texas. Your guide to center seam moccasins is a good one! Living in the Hill Country of Texas, I like to pattern my moccasins after the Apache high top moccasin with rawhide soul to protect from cactus spines. Great video! Keep up the good work!

    I have just tried. I was working on it whole afternoon. Seriously. But only your "How To" video gave me a propper information how to do it (about 7 PM) . I made only a sample from a piece of old jeans, but I will soon try leather. Thanks a lot!!!

    I just made a pair and then found your video. It's good to see your approach. Your curve on the back of the moc seems like a good idea. Thank you for sharing.

    I made some of these using fleece first and then deerskin. What I have learned from this is it is important to pay attention to how your leather is tanned. My deerskin was too stiff and made for a very uncomfortable center seam when wearing them. I will be doing this again next week but I will be using elk or brain tan and I will use a base ball stitch. The deerskin used for this video looks nice and soft and flexible.

    I like your pattern. Thanks for the explanation on how to easily adjust the pattern to get a "taller" boot...higher around the ankles. I'm thinking about putting grommets in the front edge of mine for tying off. Probably not authentic, but, it'll allow me to tighten up the fit, which as you mentioned, can be rather key to the final product. Thanks for the great video.

    Thanks Mike. Very cool moccasins. I hope to try this for myself one day. How long do you think they would last if you wore them in the woods? Thanks again.

    You could always use the felt as a liner in your hide moccasins.

    So, would you do a video explaining your process on tanning with leaves?
    Also, for a stiffer and more durable bottom, could you use a layer of cow rawhide?

    • @michaelgarafalo2924
      @michaelgarafalo2924 10 лет назад

      Yeah, my feet are tender and I would need much more protection.
      Also, as far as walking in the winter with slush and mud, how do they perform?
      Still dry and warm?
      Are there anything you would need to do for winter wear?
