    Just did this 10 minutes ago after watching video, and it worked flawlessly! Ran up to Home Depot grabbed the last 1/4 NC tap, 1 1/2 inch long, 1/4 NC bolt, washer and nut to match and done! 20 minutes, I used paper towel to catch the filings and that worked good!
    Thanks for the tips!

    Thanks for the video. I used grease on the tap and put a little grease in the hole instead of cotton and it lubricates the tap as well as catching all the shavings.

    I've watched several videos on this and this procedure along with the filming and describing the procedure is by far the best. I have my new fuel inlet elbow on the way and I already have the tools. Thanks!

      Thanks for the positive review of my video and be careful not to allow shavings into the carburetor. Have a nice day and check out the gyro videos, gyros are like flying motorcycles

    I just take the carb to my 4 inch bench vice and twist it back and forth while pulling. Install the new one the same way. No filings or crap to be left behind in the carb and takes less time

    Yes, tap and use a bolt to pull the old inlet and a large "C" clamp to seat the new, drag specialties, all brass inlet. It worked! Thanks!

    A video is worth a million words. I've read about this technique and even done it on other things in the past however: refresher (video) courses are the best. GREAT VID and thanks!!!

    Great method and simple too; freezing the brass fitting before pressing also makes it easier. Thank you.

    I'm loving the idea of leaving the carb on the bike. Thanks brother. Mine ain't leaking yet but I can see a crack forming. So gonna get everything I need to fix it and laugh at it when it starts leaking!!

    Genius lateral thinking, tough sucker - stripped my first nut, had run 2 nuts together to pull it out. An all brass replacement elbow is the go. Another post suggested a dab of Loctite on the brass as it's pushed in - makes sense. Cheers from Aus'.

    Thanks for the video. I'm going to try it. I'll probably use some grease also, as I have scoped out the comments, and think it makes sense to use it.

    You also could leave the brass in and once you make threads add a piece to hook from fuel line to it, right ?
    Thanks for the tip !

    Just did this and it worked awsome but I just thought, can you just thread an elbow into the tapped fitting with out removing it? The only problem I can think of is that the inlet hole will be to small and not allow enough gas under wot causing a lean situation? Can any one comment ?

    • @samwalters3058
      @samwalters3058 Год назад

      The shavings from tapping the brass would be hard to keep out the carb.

    Where did you get that horn? I NEED one of those!

    • @dmassarone1955
      @dmassarone1955 3 года назад

      Do a search for "Vintage Harley Horn". You'll find tons of resources. From new original to aftermarkets. Also Old vintage stocks from others. They usually come in 2 pieces. Horn is mounted on the left side (kind of matching the round air cleaner cover) and mounted from the heads (other years' my be different, but I'm sure not by much), then crosses over to the right side between the cylinders and coming down and forward with the "trumpet" part which mounts to the the block. Mine is rock solid and I've bought it used 43 years ago. (doesn't look as pretty as this one but works great. You can even "tune" them (like all "real" horns. Higher and/ lower pitch...pretty cool).
