I own a 2017 one of these. I've had it for 4 years now and it's a superb van. Drives like a car, loads of room inside, very economical and only had a few very minor little faults.
I have the same van and the best upgrade bar none is the sunglasses holder , just pop out your blank & fit one from a mk4 Mondeo in the linen colourway… They can be easily sourced from a scrapyard for a tenner or so & fitment takes about 15mins….. Definitely worthwhile
i got a wirless carplay box got mine for around £30 on tik tok there is about a 2 second delay in audio but dont really notice it use waze on it and is still usable with directions
I know how you feel regarding the insurance, I had the same van when I was 18 and insurance was £2200 with black box 68 plate, then I got a 19 plate vivaro and that insurance was £4500. So I’ve just bought another transit connect exact same as yours tbf but black, and insurance is now £2300 turned 21 in feb, so yeah deffo put me off having a bigger van again lol
The thing i realy like about ford is the storage in the cab cup holders etc as i work out a kangoo maxi the storage is absolutely none exencistnce terrible just not thaught out at all i feel its billy basic to say the least might have helped the insurance cost trying another make but i still get hit for £350 road tax 😮long wheelbace small van will do everything we need 👍
8:55 euh don't know the tax system in UK .. but the VAT & Insurance are still business expenses i guess .. ( at least here in Belgium they are ) so instead of getting the VAT back ( as VAT registred ) ..it's booked as an expense and write off the van .( so less tax on profit to pay at least in my country ). Also here the maximum turnover( not profit !!! ) for non VAT registred is 25.000 euro ( but impossible for Trades-Builders-Electricians ) .. is see in ik UK it's 90.000 pound .. explains why so many trades on youtube or not VAT registred . But yes insurance is expensive as a young driver .. i hope this is the price for all risk insurance .
After you have done 5 years of driving I would highly recommend you do the IAM roadsmart advanced driving which will help with some insurance companies
The box dongle work. I have one and work great. There are times where it is laggy but only when I turn the truck off and back within 5 minutes. I deal with it since it does connect wirelessly and I don’t have to mess with the lead
I drive the same van (limited spec), they are the best van in their size class (vw caddy are also good but all the toys are extras so less value). I get 47 mpg but mine is the short wheel base with no roof rack. I need a bit bigger for my job so we’re waiting on a new style tranny custom hybrid. Can’t fault the connect though, mines at 65k with no major problems
I have a 68 plate short wheelbase transit connectLimited no problems myself had it over 12 months now I’ve been told the long wheelbase seem to like using tires more. Nobody has mentioned the wet belt system they run on this. That’s what I’m concerned with my van can’t get much info regarding.
Best electrician I know here drives one & the backs half empty. He's super organised/clued in. He could probably work out of a C1 & still have enough space. Truth be told, he could rock up on a bicycle as long as he brought his brain. People hire his head, not his gear,
Ive got wireless car play and it does have a audio delay, if you want to watch a video audio wont be synced, skipping songs is delayed, phone calls are perfect though
It wasn't a bad choice but honestly in the end you've spent what I spent after getting ex AA/RAC/BG vans and doing them up. By doing them up I mean, wheels, lights, parking cameras and sensors, wireless car play, dash cams and security upgrades. Admittedly the insurance would be the biggest factor but they're less rare than the Transit Connects and Caddy Maxi vans.
I think it’s a good idea to get a newish van , it sucks about the VAT & insurance costs . l like the small style van practical for work and personal use . ⚡️👊
I'd go Vat Registered straight away, it's very common to do that in 🇮🇪. You wont get much commercial work over here without being Vat Registered as businesses want to claim the VAT back on the electric works
don't understand its even possible in UK as a trade you work non VAT registred ..( we have not vat registerd also here but limite to 25.000 euro a year turnover ..and not possible for Trades) . And yes companys prefer invoice with VAT .. cunsomers will pay a little bit more but not that much more on matrerials .. on labour especially ..
£250 Sounds a very good price for a full service on a van, that can't be at a Ford dealer though? Having not had a service at a main dealer on my car in years, got no idea of prices, but would expect to be paying at least 3175 for a full service on a Honda Civic. Regarding the wired Apple carplay, the other alternative is getting an aftermarket headunit with wireless Apple Carplay, Pioneer do two models, and one is about £350, but think the dash may need trimming a bit at the back (out of sight) to fit new unit, but on other hand having bluetooth for phone etc is very good. Try keeping on top of cleaning, more stopping mud clinging to things like wheel arches to slow down rust problems etc
Quad lock wireless CarPlay box is mint, not sure what laggy your mate on about , your only connecting your phone to a van , I could understand if you wanted to play COD on the thing. But yeah try quad lock one.
Wireless Carplay is super laggy Adam, don't bother! I had 2x CarlinKit ones, both as bad. Phone on magnetic holder on right, then a cable is tied to it ready to plug in. Great vans aren't they. If it's any consolation I tw*tted mine and scraped all down one wing and onto drivers door on a bollard - I'm 43 with 25 years driving and IAM trained. Damn it!! Sometimes I wish I had a Tranny Custom, but would have to be another Limited in Magnetic Grey - but van prices are ridiculous. Yes the VAT can be reclaimed on Capital Expenses within 4 years of purchase - might end up happening myself as I may go flat rate registered. I do still have an Audi 3.0 v6 for my mid-life crisis!!!! 🤣
mate i feel like i know you?? iv followed you and Nic for time.......... Great to see your confidence and honistey on your chanal, its a sham how it cost you so much to protect your van from de scum but wer all in the same boat.. Anyway nice work ADZ
The very first vehicle I bought was a 12 reg van when i was 17 and I paid £1,200 for the first year then after the first year it went down to £800.00. I have now sold my van and I have a 2024 Toyota Hilux I'm 21 in August and I'm currently paying £765.00 for the year. Im with Admiral and have both my parents on the insurance. Shop about you should get it cheaper £2000 seems very expensive.
Oh look, adam's posted a picture of himself in the thumbnail/ Oh look, he's doing a facepalm expression...... THATS NEW! Even more fitting when the description says you "love" the van, before I've even started watching. 🤔

Downsized recently from a trafic to a SWB Berlingo. I love it tbh, just have to keep things very organised and don’t carry excess shit like I used to!
Very true
I have a wireless CarPlay dongle thingy was £30 off amazon and it great, don’t notice any lag either.
I’ll take a look on Amazon cheers

Ok I’ll look into that mate
I have done it and my own insurance company doesn’t recognise it because I am a motor trader

Love mine I downsized from mrk7 transit Bit of a squeeze with all me tools but get everything in. And I’m getting 47mpg
That’s decent mpg that :)

Ive got a transit connect swb they charged me 210 at ford for a full service which i thought was very cheap
Cheers
Nice
Hi mate, look into AIA (annual investment allowance) for the van. Will allow you to claim tax back on self assessment,if I’m not mistaken. 👍🏼
I will check it out thanks
Could you make a video on how to build clients and get work starting trying to work on your own?
Good idea
Getting your moneys worth out of the head in the hands thumbnail. Doing Bundy proud 😂

How much is deadlocking the van?
500+ I reckon
Look at getting the Quad Lock wireless CarPlay adapter
I’ll take a look cheers
Good van but make sure you invest in extra door deadlocks as these things can be opened if you sneeze on them in the right place Adam ...
Very true thanks
@@AdamDunlopElectrical No worries Buddy but to be fair the small Vauxhall vans are even worse
Is your van the same as the transporter type van which is limited to 50mph on main roads and 60mph on dual carriageways?
Think so
Niice one mate
Thanks 👍
dont fret with VAT registration if you use accountance software for everything anyway it legit is 1 click and its auto sent
What’s the power like on the hills? What size engine is it?
1.6

Try & find a Toyota van . ( Thank me later )
Great channel 👍👌
Thanks 👍
One of the nicer vans you can get but loses my vote due to having a wet timing belt.
Good point

Maybe watch the video first rather than commenting about a rhetorical question 🙈
Getting a small van your only kidding yourself
