My guy did the whole thing with one hand. My confidence skyrocketed when I saw the same husky channel locks that I have and gerber multi tool that I carry everyday. lol. Thx for posting this…8 years ago!
Thank you so much. I live in an apartment in Vegas, and can you believe the maintenance can't figure out the hot is cold and cold is hot issue! Well your simple suggestion to reverse the orientation of the cartridge 180 degrees solved the problem! Can't thank you enough for taking the time to do this video. I tried on my own, but I was taking the cartridge out and putting it back in upside down which did not help. Obviously you have to leave it in and turn it 180! Woohoo!😎
Thank you so much for this video. My shower was flooding my upstairs and I wasn't able to get anyone over to fix it. Saw this video and boom saved the day. Thanks again
Thanks for this I had trouble getting the new Cartridge in and ended up just cleaning the old one and it worked fine. Next time I'll try and push with the h/c knob
It is marked up on the end that goes up. It is also the side with the extra dimple. there is always the possibility that whoever installed it originally put it in upside down also.
Help my first Phillips screw is stripped and I can’t even remove the turning knob to get started, how do I get the stripped screw off? I noticed your knob was cracked in half would I have to resort to breaking it? To bypass the stripped screw? I have a mixet shower handle just like this one! Thanks
my handle is spinning round and round and not shutting off the water. I was able to get it shut off by removing the handle and using pliers. Do I need to replace the handle, or should I also replace the cartridge? This will be the third time I'll be replacing it. First time was for temp control. Can't remember what the second time was for.
If your cartridge won’t push all the way inside (up to the split brass ring being flush with the valve body), temporarily take out the brass-plastic-brass washer stack from the chrome cylindrical mounting nut. Use the cylindrical mounting nut to catch the threads on the valve body so the cylinder can get pushed in to the proper depth (split ring flush with valve body). Be sure you’ve used enough plumber’s grease to allow cartridge to turn to perform water temperature change function. Back out the cylindrical mounting nut, reinstall the washer stack as above (brass-plastic-brass) and install the cylindrical mounting nut very snug. Keep red mark and UP marking at 12 o’clock & continue with install as mentioned here & elsewhere. Don’t unthread cartridge from brass stem screw at either end, there be dragons.
I like to replace my faucet with nice metal shower faucet set. Can someone recommend show faucet set brand and model to easily fit this type of valve? Right now I have mixset knob but we like better quality metal faucet set not plastic mixset. Thanks
When it is installed, should I be able to adjust the temperature without adjusting the volume without holding the volume knob in place? Should they work independently? Thanks.
If you drop the red dot down how can you attaché the temperature level in the top position? My shower temp is setup the opposite and I want to turn it 180*, but then wouldn’t I attached the handle on the bottom? The other issue I have is when I turn the main back on, it’s harder to rotate the the temp handle.
I have the same shower handle and need to replace the cartridge which is the one u bought... I bought the same plastic handle but the temp is too hard to turn so I meed to replace the cartridge but don't know which one.
I had a metal nut that the cover plate has to go over. The regular replacement covers have too small of a hole now. The one that is on there is brass I believe 5 inch. I ended up having to put the old one back on there with a new diverter valve. I really want a new plate etc...any ideas/
Mine had the metal (well, sprayed metal) long handle and when I tried to replace it, it did not work. They look slightly different even though both mixet. The main difference is that my old one no longer really has that little part jutting out from the bottom of the white plastic piece, the one that's supposed to line up. So maybe that's why I am able to pop that one on instead of the replacement that never seems to pop on and fit. Hope that makes sense. Maybe you can file down that little part and then it will work? I think I may have to go the plastic round temperature control next time like uou did.
alan sunshine Often times DIY repairs on these leads to irreparable damage of the valve. Mixit is a terrible design and that's why they're out of business. You can try replacing the seat or a nomix.com upgrade.
Please read my comments on other Mixit cartridge repair video's to see how you can simply clean and repair your old cartridge and save yourself some time and money.
Why can't we just change the diverter valve to accept a different name brand kit without tearing out your whole shower? Is this really the case? If so...builders suck.
I hate this I had 1 replayed I payed a plumber a licensed one and it broke fast same day after 1 or 2 use so he came back replace it for I think a 2 or 3rd time before it work fine now and we recently had another 1 replaced upstairs and u guessed it we need to replace it after 0 use this time it just started to running and leak agian so re need it replace agian thay crap I was told thay use to make them in metal but now only plastic

Absolutely perfect. I had the same Mixet set up and this video was spot on. Thank you sir!!!
Hot / cold reversal is due to your lever pointing up vs. down. Default configuration (Red-dot up) is for a temp lever which points downward.
That's how mine is set up by default
This video saved my bacon :) The fact that the new cartridge comes in the "on" position was vital! Another vid didn't have that. Great instructions!
Thanks for your help!
thank you for this video! hubby finally fixed the shower!
Thanks for this I had trouble getting the new Cartridge in and ended up just cleaning the old one and it worked fine. Next time I'll try and push with the h/c knob
Very helpful video! You made it look very easy and you explained it very good!
Thank you for your video. It helped me fix my faucet.
Thank you this was very helpful and easy.
Damb! bro thank youso much for this video just change mine today and followed all your steps works great!
Good video . But red marking by the manufacturer goes down. Or els the hot and cold will be on opposite.👍
Thanks for taking the time to load up the video. Help me 💯!
I appreciate your video, it helped me a lot brother!
Thanks, your video save me some $. I spend $18.00 on the part and installed my self.
Thank you!
Thank you for helping us. We were able to fix it today

Thanks man, worked perfect.
Thank you! Neither the red mark nor the temp control notch were mentioned in the instructions on the package.
It appears that that RED DOT goes up or down depending on preference to the mixing handle position. Mixing handle down...RED DOT down.
when you turned to test the hot water, did the brass volume knob turn with it? Thanks! Rob
Thanks i replaced mine as well and it was reverse like yours. So followed your advise.
I paid the price of not turning off the water and it was like Noah’s flood within minutes.

Life saving video. Thanks

...so the CARTRIDGE can get pushed...
Can you put a different type of handle in one that was previously this type without having to change the way the tubes are set?
Thank you definitely helped
Hi I have similar issue bro
problem is my screw is too tight
Should I try w d40 ? Do I need to shut of the water for that open the screw??

could you please put the part number for the handle i couldn’t find handle that fit

Bianca Papp there is an older valve design and newer one. make sure you have the correct version replacement
thank you so much!!!
Thank you very much the red dot points down~~
Thank you, sir
That tab on the second handle will break off by not loosening the screw when you pull it
Do you know if it still leaks after replacing the cartridge what i can do?

You can try replacing the seat or a nomix.com upgrade.
Do you know if there's any way to convert this type of shower valve to a Moen or delta type of shower valve?
I am trying to upgrade mine easily to metal faucet set. Love to hear of any other brand and model that will fit this easily.
Yes. Nomix.com makes one
Rick Evans where can l get the non mix cartridge. Thanks
You don't need to turn off the main water supply to change the cartridge? Thx
X L main water does need to be turned off. Unless you are working in scuba gear.
Mine worked with the red dot up
My water is coming out blazing hott && mixet valves are both spinning? What’s going on 😭
the red dot goes to the bottom so temperature would be right
What cartridge number is that
Thankyou

I watched another video were the guy said the red dot goes on the bottom
Do you know what your doing ?

it says UP on the directions. But the hot and cold are now reversed. :(
The directions says UP.
I have the same problem, knobs are cheaply made.
