@@ariana0617 I certainly hope you never stop dreaming. My experience has been that practicality and responsibility take center stage over time, which is not a bad thing, just different.
It was born a classic!!! It's impossible not to remember the bands from Liverpool (Echo & The Bunnyman and The Coral). I don't think I'm the only one who noticed the influence. Album of the year: yes or definitely?
This is absolutely incredible. I’ve listened to it at least 50 times in the last few days. The tone of the guitars reminds me of The Cranberries with a bit of The Smiths sprinkled on top. Stunning.
I have been aware of Fontaines D.C since the be ginning but I didnt really give them the time I should have gave them. I started to really like them after hearing Starbuster. I'm aware that's a song from the same album but I am now going through the back catalogue and this unbelievable song has now got me talking about them non stop to my friends. This is easily there best song yet imo. They have alot of great songs but this is first class song writing.
This song sounds like all the promises you make after writing yourself off weekend after weekend but never changing not even for the love of your life. “Baby I swear I wanted to call” another broken promise another night in the gutter and a Sunday filled with apologies in the "charmless morning" but hey you wanted to yeah?
[Intro] Changed my name to "promise you", yeah Dying inside 'cuz I want to, yeah Didn't I say I wanted to? Yeah Honey I'd changed before you, yeah 28 years are coming to end The rain chased me down the gully again Now I'm higher than anyone here And that ain't nothing on me, yeah [Verse 1] But-but-but baby I swear it, I wanted to call But on my way 'round I happened to fall She's a MUA at Carnegie Hall In her vanity mirror, I'm losing it all Well, we shacked up swift abandonment way Catch sweet rain inside a beret In it I'm reflecting all of the day And I will fade in the night, yeah [Chorus 1] Will you apologise For the remainder of your life? Do you accept the charges? I promise you, I'll promise to, yeah [Verse 2] Well now she Curls up with his favourite son He's the ugliest man in heaven for one And as long as there's nobody fooling me there Then that ain't nothing on me, yeah, yeah They threw me out like I was a wedding bouquet Now I can't quite remember what I had to say 'Til I get higher than anyone here And I will fade in the night yeah [Chorus 2] In the charmless morning I promise to be gone I almost felt the feeling That I wanted to I wanted to, yeah Ah You thought I was here But I'm further than the sun, sun Ah Silent as the feeling That I've promised you, I promise you Yeah [Outro] Well, I changed my name to "promise you", yeah It's easier than me making apologies, yeah Now I'm higher than anyone here And dirt ain't nothing on me, yeah
The beginning reminds me of Morrissey's Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself and the second half sounds like Johnny Marr's New Town Velocity, great songs
Reminds me of...if REM had a baby and OASIS and The SMITHS were conjoined twins and if Pet Shop Boys closes their business and walked around the park all day with Cold Play and they all dropped acid and woke up the next day not remembering who they were.
I'm 62 years old and this album makes me feel like the 28 year old dreamer I used to be. Great music is great music, it's that simple.
Similar age. This reminds me a little of Ned's Atomic Dustbin or Mighty Lemon Drops.
Are you saying that the dreaming goes away with age? I won’t be a dreamer forever?
Me too. Makes me feel young again. Great album.

cheers mate
This could be my fav song on the album, can’t decide between this and In the Modern World
They're all so good, will go through phases of loving one song in particular then another. It's that kind of album.
Desire, Modern World and Bug is such an insane 3-track run!
Why not both
@@WaxForDinner easy 3 best on the album
same ❤❤❤
Best song on the album for me. How tf was this not a single!?
right?! hopefully we get a music vid
That's when you know that an album is good
best song in album doesn't have to be a single. Starbuster and Favourite are more adequate singles.
So do I, best song of the album indeed!
Great song but my favorite is starburster
you don’t understand, I’m OBSESSED
I do understand same
Me too
HOW HAVE THEY DONE THIS EVERY SONG IS AMAZING
It gets better with each listen. Their most direct hit on the tape besides the closer. Amazing.
Just a simple, straight to the point, banger, isn't it?
this song has been stuck in my head all week! love the new album
Great stuff im 53 now and heard a lot of new music and thank god for Fontaines
Every time I listen to this song I love it more
The vocal melody thoughhhhhh ❤
It has echo and bunnymen, the church vibes, this and roman holiday are my fav. Fontaines tunes.
Favourite song on the album ❤
Possibly my favourite so far along with starbuster and Favourite
Have to ageee
reminds me alot of johnny marr for some reason. so good though
was thinking the exact same thing. its the same arrangement as new town velocity im sure, comes in the second half of the track
Absolutely
Thought the same thing
when the drums kicks in, it reminds me a lot of the smiths
Its got the super early 90s feel. Neds Atomic Dustbin, Mighty Lemon Drops.
these guys are able to capture emotions that I could never put into words. thats real art.
I found this on a Instagram post and I immediately liked it and now I’m here adding it to my magic playlist 😂

I’m having my own EATB comparisons but more in a 4th album sense. The last time I loved a 3 first albums run as much as FDC was EATB back in 1980-83.

ONE OF MY FAVS!
Brian Jonestown Massacre vibes on this one 🤌
well spotted!
Exactly what I thought first time I heard it
By far my favourite song by dc, it’s addictive, even my 9 year old loves it
His lyrics are always so memorable, favorite line has gotta be "Now I'm higher than anyone here"
Sounds like Roman HOLIDAY part 2 🔥
Equally as good also...😊
Even Better ? @@frankcoughlan4538
Holy shit yeah
Thank you for soundbite when I dissociate from reality when I daydream
Best Song of this fantastic album!
Cant wait to see ye lads in Amsterdam and Dublin!
Ye guys are a massive inspiration to make music
They need to write a Bond theme! Love this
This is genuinely the best song I have heard in years❤❤❤❤❤❤!!! 🇮🇪🫶🏻
Dope album
Man I have this on repeat for the most part of my day. I love it
Bang of Mr Jones and me coming out of the intro. Still my fav from these new song. Well Played Lads.

Similar chord progression to Skyfall bond tune. This is great
I love how the opening acoustic guitar is an exact copy of The Trigger by Death In June lmao
Love Fontaines tho 🖤
Good song
OOOPS! SHHHH. WELL SPOTTED!
the 2nd listen made this a masterpiece
Sounds like The Smiths, another hit ❤️
Sound like J.Marr. New Town velocity
Day In Day Out by Johnny Marr
this is the one. that sound
These songs are phenomenal. Really got me thinking
New fav band
Oasis and Wunderhorse had a baby they called it Fontaines DC - BUG!
This will by my favourite fontaines tune for a long time!
Favourite for a long time 🎶
dig it 🩵🩵🩵 Love you guys. Especially you, “promise you.” don’t go. please stay.
probably the best album y hear this year
The Church - Under the milky way vibes. Great stuff
Awesome tune ❤ I hope it gets its own video soon
say goodbye on a night like this if it's the last thing we ever do...
this is fucking incredible
Love this Album❤
Sounds absolutely brilliant. Lads ye are killing me with such great songs and lyrics are ace!!❤❤❤😅❤❤❤
Definitely a nice PIXiES feel here.
Un futur classique !

Has a James Bond sound to me…and I’m loving it!
Such a hit
They dont miss.
Keeping on this band
B B B BABY I SWEAR IT
day 5 and i haven't listened to anything else besides this album . keep changing to something else but its pulling me back every time haha
Amazing!!! 🙌🔥🇵🇹
This gives such Bond vibes to me
What a tune!
The beginning reminds me of Morrissey's Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself and the second half sounds like Johnny Marr's New Town Velocity, great songs
B-b-baby I swear it I wanted to call
Proper Fuckin Tune 👌 👏
B-B-B-Baby!!

lo escuché en Aspen y vine ❤ temazo❤❤❤
best Fontaines album thus far. pure bliss
Great! It seems like A night like this/The Cure
banger
chord progression on this one is so good
AND NOW I'M HIGHER THAN EVERYONE HERE
I cant wait to get this record on friday
But she’s gone…..
But she’s gone….
Dope record
What a tune
What a fcukin song,Brilliant.
Best "Yeah" song since usher
very curious to know what the backing vocals are saying, is it “now she’s gone” ?
Idk I hear but instead of now, maybe they say both ahaha
The graphics remind me of PS1. When you play a cd on it. Groovey
It gives me a bit of Rio by Duran Duran
Been stuck on repeat since the album release
Sounds like The Church - Under the Milky Way
but not half as good or interesting
Niiiice
what an fuckin banger
same here 😢
brilliant
I'm 68 and I totally agree
I turn 29 tomorrow so this song came at me at the perfect time.
Happy birthday for tomorrow 👍
Giddy up 👍👍
bravo
I want to be that MUA... ❤
"Animal Instinct" (The Cranberries) meets fragments of The Smiths and Oasis.
Bravo was looking for this since first second?!! Animal instinct is so similar the opening😊
Finally someone got it!
I really like it but it reminds me of a song from the 80s but I can't find which one 😭
Guitars remind me a lot of The Killing Moon by Echo and the Bunnymen... one of the best tunes ever written, but that might be debatable
Reminds me of...if REM had a baby and OASIS and The SMITHS were conjoined twins and if Pet Shop Boys closes their business and walked around the park all day with Cold Play and they all dropped acid and woke up the next day not remembering who they were.
SHES A MUA AT CARNEGIE HALL
You Irish have to, once again, insist there is a door on your house and not anyone can come strolling in.
🖤
