@@ariana0617 I certainly hope you never stop dreaming. My experience has been that practicality and responsibility take center stage over time, which is not a bad thing, just different.
It was born a classic!!! It's impossible not to remember the bands from Liverpool (Echo & The Bunnyman and The Coral). I don't think I'm the only one who noticed the influence. Album of the year: yes or definitely?
This song sounds like all the promises you make after writing yourself off weekend after weekend but never changing not even for the love of your life. “Baby I swear I wanted to call” another broken promise another night in the gutter and a Sunday filled with apologies in the "charmless morning" but hey you wanted to yeah?
[Intro] Changed my name to "promise you", yeah Dying inside 'cuz I want to, yeah Didn't I say I wanted to? Yeah Honey I'd changed before you, yeah 28 years are coming to end The rain chased me down the gully again Now I'm higher than anyone here And that ain't nothing on me, yeah [Verse 1] But-but-but baby I swear it, I wanted to call But on my way 'round I happened to fall She's a MUA at Carnegie Hall In her vanity mirror, I'm losing it all Well, we shacked up swift abandonment way Catch sweet rain inside a beret In it I'm reflecting all of the day And I will fade in the night, yeah [Chorus 1] Will you apologise For the remainder of your life? Do you accept the charges? I promise you, I'll promise to, yeah [Verse 2] Well now she Curls up with his favourite son He's the ugliest man in heaven for one And as long as there's nobody fooling me there Then that ain't nothing on me, yeah, yeah They threw me out like I was a wedding bouquet Now I can't quite remember what I had to say 'Til I get higher than anyone here And I will fade in the night yeah [Chorus 2] In the charmless morning I promise to be gone I almost felt the feeling That I wanted to I wanted to, yeah Ah You thought I was here But I'm further than the sun, sun Ah Silent as the feeling That I've promised you, I promise you Yeah [Outro] Well, I changed my name to "promise you", yeah It's easier than me making apologies, yeah Now I'm higher than anyone here And dirt ain't nothing on me, yeah
The beginning reminds me of Morrissey's Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself and the second half sounds like Johnny Marr's New Town Velocity, great songs
Reminds me of...if REM had a baby and OASIS and The SMITHS were conjoined twins and if Pet Shop Boys closes their business and walked around the park all day with Cold Play and they all dropped acid and woke up the next day not remembering who they were.
Sure...are you trying to tell me which romance is the band's best album? When it is clear that they adopted mainstream melodies, they left aside the characteristic sound of the band, the guitars, not even the voice stands out that much... and it was seen from afar, when from one day to the next they began to wear women's clothing and became They put their hair up to attract attention. There you realize that what they are looking for is to make money, just another festival band. I think that now, and it makes me sad because Cok Skanty Fia thought they were one of the best bands of the moment. Anyway...they are just opinions...but for me it is a disappointment...and sorry for my English, I am using a translator

Honestly...I am rather disappointed at how commercial and predictable most of the songs on this album are so far. I miss F DC's previous intensity, minor chords and atmospheric darkness on the previous albums which were brilliant. I like 'Starbuster' and 'Here's The Thing' but that's about it so far. I hope the rest of the songs on the new album are more creative and interesting. Also not loving the new 'done by an LA stylist from the record company' new makeover look either. I really hope they don't fade into blandness, they are so special.
I respect ur opinion but couldnt desagree more. The album may be the most "commercial" one they've made, yes, but its not bland at all! Also just bcos something is more appealing to the masses doesnt mean its not good. Imho, this album is as good as their debut, which is my fav till this day.
I'm 62 years old and this album makes me feel like the 28 year old dreamer I used to be. Great music is great music, it's that simple.
Similar age. This reminds me a little of Ned's Atomic Dustbin or Mighty Lemon Drops.
Are you saying that the dreaming goes away with age? I won’t be a dreamer forever?
Me too. Makes me feel young again. Great album.
@@ariana0617 I certainly hope you never stop dreaming. My experience has been that practicality and responsibility take center stage over time, which is not a bad thing, just different.
This could be my fav song on the album, can’t decide between this and In the Modern World
They're all so good, will go through phases of loving one song in particular then another. It's that kind of album.
Desire, Modern World and Bug is such an insane 3-track run!
Why not both
@@nicolasdoriaadethansen2259 easy 3 best on the album
same ❤❤❤
Best song on the album for me. How tf was this not a single!?
right?! hopefully we get a music vid
That's when you know that an album is good
best song in album doesn't have to be a single. Starbuster and Favourite are more adequate singles.
So do I, best song of the album indeed!
you don’t understand, I’m OBSESSED
Possibly my favourite so far along with starbuster and Favourite
Just a simple, straight to the point, banger, isn't it?
HOW HAVE THEY DONE THIS EVERY SONG IS AMAZING
reminds me alot of johnny marr for some reason. so good though
was thinking the exact same thing. its the same arrangement as new town velocity im sure, comes in the second half of the track
Absolutely
Thought the same thing
when the drums kicks in, it reminds me a lot of the smiths
Its got the super early 90s feel. Neds Atomic Dustbin, Mighty Lemon Drops.
Every time I listen to this song I love it more
The vocal melody thoughhhhhh ❤
Sounds like Roman HOLIDAY part 2 🔥
Equally as good also...😊
Even Better ? @@frankcoughlan4538
Holy shit yeah
Favourite song on the album ❤
It gets better with each listen. Their most direct hit on the tape besides the closer. Amazing.
Brian Jonestown Massacre vibes on this one 🤌
well spotted!
Exactly what I thought first time I heard it
was specifically looking to see if someone had commented this
Sounds like The Smiths, another hit ❤️
Sound like J.Marr. New Town velocity
Day In Day Out by Johnny Marr
ONE OF MY FAVS!
Thank you for soundbite when I dissociate from reality when I daydream
Oasis and Wunderhorse had a baby they called it Fontaines DC - BUG!
This will by my favourite fontaines tune for a long time!
Favourite for a long time 🎶
this song has been stuck in my head all week! love the new album
Un futur classique !

I’m having my own EATB comparisons but more in a 4th album sense. The last time I loved a 3 first albums run as much as FDC was EATB back in 1980-83.
Bang of Mr Jones and me coming out of the intro. Still my fav from these new song. Well Played Lads.
the same thing came to mind as soon as I heard it! anyway it gives me goosebumps, it keeps growing inside me as new fav song from fontaines 🔥💚
the 2nd listen made this a masterpiece

best Fontaines album thus far. pure bliss
[Intro]
Changed my name to "promise you", yeah
Dying inside 'cuz I want to, yeah
Didn't I say I wanted to? Yeah
Honey I'd changed before you, yeah
28 years are coming to end
The rain chased me down the gully again
Now I'm higher than anyone here
And that ain't nothing on me, yeah
[Verse 1]
But-but-but baby I swear it, I wanted to call
But on my way 'round I happened to fall
She's a MUA at Carnegie Hall
In her vanity mirror, I'm losing it all
Well, we shacked up swift abandonment way
Catch sweet rain inside a beret
In it I'm reflecting all of the day
And I will fade in the night, yeah
[Chorus 1]
Will you apologise
For the remainder of your life?
Do you accept the charges?
I promise you, I'll promise to, yeah
[Verse 2]
Well now she
Curls up with his favourite son
He's the ugliest man in heaven for one
And as long as there's nobody fooling me there
Then that ain't nothing on me, yeah, yeah
They threw me out like I was a wedding bouquet
Now I can't quite remember what I had to say
'Til I get higher than anyone here
And I will fade in the night yeah
[Chorus 2]
In the charmless morning
I promise to be gone
I almost felt the feeling
That I wanted to
I wanted to, yeah
Ah
You thought I was here
But I'm further than the sun, sun
Ah
Silent as the feeling
That I've promised you, I promise you
Yeah
[Outro]
Well, I changed my name to "promise you", yeah
It's easier than me making apologies, yeah
Now I'm higher than anyone here
And dirt ain't nothing on me, yeah
Similar chord progression to Skyfall bond tune. This is great
this is fucking incredible
0:08 do do do
0:12 la la la
His lyrics are always so memorable, favorite line has gotta be "Now I'm higher than anyone here"
Niiiice

Sounds absolutely brilliant. Lads ye are killing me with such great songs and lyrics are ace!!❤❤❤😅❤❤❤
b-b-b-banger

B-B-B-Baby!!

Keeping on this band
love it
banger
What a tune
❤
chord progression on this one is so good
what an fuckin banger
Great! It seems like A night like this/The Cure
The intro reminds me of R.E.M. - Imitation of Life
🖤
I love how the opening acoustic guitar is an exact copy of The Trigger by Death In June lmao
Love Fontaines tho 🖤
Good song
The beginning reminds me of Morrissey's Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself and the second half sounds like Johnny Marr's New Town Velocity, great songs
You Irish have to, once again, insist there is a door on your house and not anyone can come strolling in.
Been stuck on repeat since the album release
Best "Yeah" song since usher
SHES A MUA AT CARNEGIE HALL
brilliant
Giddy up 👍👍
Reminds me of...if REM had a baby and OASIS and The SMITHS were conjoined twins and if Pet Shop Boys closes their business and walked around the park all day with Cold Play and they all dropped acid and woke up the next day not remembering who they were.
I want to be that MUA... ❤
Bu bu bu baby
It gives me a bit of Rio by Duran Duran
I really like it but it reminds me of a song from the 80s but I can't find which one 😭
Guitars remind me a lot of The Killing Moon by Echo and the Bunnymen... one of the best tunes ever written, but that might be debatable
0:29
Sounds like The Church - Under the Milky Way
but not half as good or interesting
"Animal Instinct" (The Cranberries) meets fragments of The Smiths and Oasis.
Bravo was looking for this since first second?!! Animal instinct is so similar the opening😊
this one reminds me so much of catfish and the bottlemen! one of my favourites for sure
I feel like I'm listening to Brain Jonestown Massacre, Oasis, The Stone Roses, and Blur all at once.
very curious to know what the backing vocals are saying, is it “now she’s gone” ?
Sequel be like Man!
is this song about the movie Bug?
As the kids say “ its a vibe” or something
Each song on this album sounds like another song from another band.
just like Dogrel
Reminds me a lot of old coldplay
Imitation Of life rem intro ?
Linnie Burg
D'angelo Place
Nayeli Square
Nevertheless BJM × Stop me if you think that you've heard this one before The Smiths

Not my cup of tea..
I wanna be BIG
Thompson Timothy Davis Cynthia Moore Michael
We have this and then Taylor Swift filling stadiums....wtf is wrong with the world
In this era of music people just give what is offered to them even though they can access any song ever idk why
damn it reminds me a lot of REM
maybe an Around the Sun era B side but far afar from peak era REM
impresentable el disco este...prefiero cuando les importaba la musica, no la plata.
what?? this is one of their strangest albums to date idk how you can see this is them selling out, the writing, sounds everything is on point
