How Civet make World Most Expensive Coffee - Civet Coffee Farming - Coffee Harvest and Processing
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 24 ноя 2024
- Kopi luwak is a coffee that consists of partially digested coffee cherries, which have been eaten and defecated by the Asian palm civet . It is also called civet coffee. The cherries are fermented as they pass through a civet's intestines, and after being defecated with other fecal matter, they are collected. Producers of the coffee beans argue that the process may improve coffee through two mechanisms: selection - civets choosing to eat only certain cherries, and digestion - biological or chemical mechanisms in the animals' digestive tracts altering the composition of the coffee cherries.
The traditional method of collecting feces from wild Asian palm civets has given way to an intensive farming method, in which the palm civets are kept in battery cages and are force-fed the cherries. This method of production has raised ethical concerns about the treatment of civets and the conditions they are made to live in, which include isolation, poor diet, small cages, and a high mortality rate.
Although kopi luwak is a form of processing rather than a variety of coffee, it has been called one of the most expensive coffees in the world, with retail prices reaching US$100 per kilogram for farmed beans and US$1,300 per kilogram for wild-collected beans.

It's absolutely disgusting that you're keeping wild animals in cages, why you think they're happy when they're literally going crazy trying to get out of there.

Hello guys,,, i am an Indonesian coffe farmer
These animals have the right to live free
U eat chicken & fish? No then it's good. But if u r eating then think otherwise 😂
@@Siddartha-x5b what will u choose between these two? Living your whole life inside a coffin or die in a second?
@@shinchan8382 these are wrong options dear. Nobody could live whole life in cuffin niether nobody die in a second.
@@Siddartha-x5b the size of the cages shown in the second farm = coffins. Killing animals for food is different than torturing them. If anyone questions animal abuse someone comes up with a comment 'do u eat nonveg? ' Even in the video of Chinese dog eating festivals where they throw the dogs alive in hot water i can see these type of comments. Killing and torturing(& killing) is different. That's what I tried to say.
@@shinchan8382 " u change the world when u change your mind " 5 years ago my family weekly ordering 3kg of goat mutton but the time i realised goat suffering i stopped eating that. I tried to convince my family as well but they didn't stopped. But from last 1 year we are ordering weekly 1 kg of goat mutton. Drastically down. So change happened gradually but it did happened. So " do u eat non-vage is a right question coz it start with "you" "yourself"
I got inspiration from civet. Now it is time for the world to taste my coffee product😇😇

You try your coffee 😂😂😂 and goat poop too.

Nothing like getting shown all the good parts of your process and none of the bad parts.
That's what I was thinking 😂

Waiter : Thank you sir
Omg im dead😂
I think it's better to put them in an enclosure let them free around the coffee plants instead of putting them into small cages. Stress can affect the quality of the product so if you want your coffee to be really good quality don't put the civets inside a small cage but let them be free and happy to roam around and eat coffee fruits as much as they want
И на десерт что нибудь молочное.
Like free range farming for chickens
They eat their own poop
Exactly you are right. AND the high price of it should be for the "natural" free version of it, like organic products are, not the "industrial" forced imprisoned version (and cruel). That is kind of cheating.

The origin was when Indonesia was colonized local farmer can't harvest coffee bean for private consumption, all of the harvest must be sell to VOC (east India Company) that own by Dutch. I’ve tried and I must say that it did not disappoint. It’s true that the bitterness of the coffee is lessened and the aroma was still great while brewing. I’m surprised it came from an undesirable source but still tasted great!

Instead of keeping them in cages, why dont you create a preserved area around the coffee plants and release the animals there? Keeping them in cages is cruel, also let the poopy coffee become more organic and expensive that way :/
@@MK-rx2fj they are not domesticated cattles, they are wild animals so keep your business deals away from wildlife, respect them

Went to a coffee farm in Bali and i found that these civet cats were housed in small cages and fed only coffee beans.
Was offered a cup of the kapi luwak but i declined. Didnt buy any kapi luwak, just regular coffee
good that's what they deserve for such inhumane activities
That's what's in this video: tiny wire or wooden cages and eating only the beans. That poor civet doing the same action over and over is because it's out of its mind with boredom. Utterly cruel.
Most folks here probably can't afford it anyway. It's the rich fools you want to tell to.

I would like to see a study of both beans fresh and digested tried by the same unbiased person at three same time.
If you have a chance to visit Indonesia, you'll find out they're not too expensive to obtain, with some bargaining, you may get about $18/lb (about 30% civet coffee, which is pretty good for that price), and they use the beans from the kind they feed the animal with.
You can already smell the difference between the bag with and without blending civet coffee.
Very interesting, but I don't believe I want any, thank you.

You been asking about an opinion to that coffee. Here you go: I've been consuming the civet coffee first in January 2023 when i returned from Philippines where i bought a couple of packs in the pasalubong shop at the airport.
I usually never drink coffee as it makes my stomach upset. I heard that Civet coffee is a very easy to digest coffee. So i decided to try it out. The coffee is lovely and though it's strong it goes very well with my stomach. Since i tried it once i continue to buy that coffee in Germany. Unfortunately i cannot get Philippines Civet coffee, so i am buying Kopi Luwak from Indonesia... The taste is similar still not same which may result of the different kind of food the Civets consume beside coffee beans. The taste is similar to Turkish Mokka I was told, though I never tried the Mokka... Anyway, it is a very pleasant experience every Saturday and Sunday to taste this lovely coffee... ☕☕
Does the animal abuse not bother you?
I have had Cafe Luwak. It is a 'good' coffee (subjective). I also support the wild gathering of the beans. However, the second farm showed in this video is EXACTLY the type of profiteering that I find distasteful, as the conditions were inhumane, from my perspective. This makes the product undesirable for my purchase, and I will never spend a dollar on it.

This is cruel way to keep an animal all for their excrement. What a confined life
What does the Civet cat do in the wild? I saw them grouped together on a coffee tree. Then at about the 4m mark we see a different farm(?) with an adult animal doing circles up and down the inside of a small slat box!! That kind of activity, like a domestic cat chasing it's tail endlessly, is neurotic behavior induced by stress! My heart is broken to see the way these animals are "farmed".
IT IS DETERMINED BY HUMANS HOW TO PRICE SOMETHING, JUST SAY THE MOST EXPENSIVE FECES 😂😂
I tried this coffee without knowing how it was made. I thought it was amazing. Then someone told me how its made and I had to come search for myself.
I am wondering who tried to taste this first time. There is no limit in human curiosity.

I’m just really happy to see animals not being mistreated, it would be nice if they had bigger cages but I’m happy they are taken care of
This is the definition of mistreatment, it is a wild animal that is held in a much smaller enclosure while being incredibly malnourished. Civets regularly lose their fur to the stress and lack of nutrition. Its an animal whose natural instict is to climb and they are leaving them in filthy boxes. They frequently develop a neurosis from these conditions. In addition there is very little oversight so buying a 100% wild certified product is bs because they pretty much all cage them and lie
a golden cage is also a cage
