Recorded on 3/26/23 from 7:00a-4:30p
Today was quite a unique experience at Franklin Park along the Canadian Pacific Elgin Subdivision. What started out as a normal, slow start to the day ended up being quite eventual when CP 247 derails just outside of the Metra station blocking the major road railroad crossings making Franklin Park difficult to travel through. We did our best being helpful witnesses and coordinating with the railroad throughout the investigation explaining what we saw when the derailment occurred. Please note that there were no hazardous chemicals or items that spilled resulting an evacuation and no injuries were reported. We were given permission to proceed to show briefly of what happened to share with all of you. Skip to 9:42 to see the derailment unfold.
At the end of the day, no injuries were reported and nothing hazardous didn’t spill which turned out to be a minor derailment. Thankfully it couldn’t have gotten any worse. Overall, everyone was okay despite facing a different and unique situation by helping out in anyway we could. Be sure to stay tuned to see the full coverage of the minor derailment from Franklin Park.

Note to railroads: put empty center beams at the end of trains.
Awesome Catches of these CP Trains and Metra Trains in Franklin Park too with some trains helping too, going slow and also there was a derailment too that workmen were fixing.
Thank you!
Really cool seeing the Mars light on #405 at 4:22! Even though the cover falling off isn't a good look...
It's a damn good thing that nothing hazardous happened according to CP.
13:31 I love how 405 just shows up
Imagine what the passengers on the metra train were thinking when they passed this
Literally on their phones
@@Jonathan-Adames yes LOL
As a Metra passenger, I assure you that while we may busy ourselves on our phones, this still gets our attention. We know instinctively when the train is going slower than usual. Add to it that conductors generally announce the issue so people know why we might be a few mins late, and you get a trainload of passengers looking out the window, possibly even recording video
Damn, this video was posted a lot quicker than most others.
It's shocking how many derailments have been happening recently, even with some in Minnesota too. I assume you heard about the recent runaway Union Pacific train derailment in Kelso, California recently have you Andrew? The train ended up going over 100 miles an hour and was a terrible mess. UP ES44AC 7856 was damaged beyond repair and the crew was reported uninjured.
Honestly less derailments have been happening its just that the media has been covering them more often do to the big one in February.
Yup, Kelso was overdue for another derailment. One seems to happen every 17 years or so there. It was about 26 years since the previous one at Kelso, but with modern track improvements instead of derailing 68 out of 75 cars at 72mph like the previous one in 1997, this last one was able to get up to 118mph before derailing and destroyed everything that ran away.
Could you imagine just watching the trains go by when it just derails what it would feel like?
Nice video!
Thank you!
Ein wunderschönes Video u diese Train Impressionen fantastisch..many greetings from Germany Cologne ein Fan aus Krefeld ❤🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚂.
way to go metra, light cover falling of engine(no pre-trip)
Again, wow! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!

Good catch. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Wow. Awesome video!
Thank you!
Thank you for posting this video so that we could be aware of what exactly happened when the cars derailed on the Canadian Pacific mixed freight in Franklin Park, Illinois on 26 March 2023, Andrew! You and the crew were in the right place at the right time. I am certain that your coverage of the derailment as it happened is going to be extremely helpful to the authorities in their investigation of this incident. I enjoyed the rest of the video with all the trains that you captured during the rest of the day. I really enjoyed watching the men working to re-rail the center beam flat car. Your coverage of that action was interesting to watch. Too bad the rain started to come down and prompted you to close your operations. I would have liked to have seen how they re-railed the covered hopper car. Did railroad employees direct the re-railing of the cars or was the work directed by a third-party company that Canadian Pacific hired to do the work?
Thanks for watching! Based on what we saw, it look like the cleanup was done by both a third party and Canadian Pacific. -Andrew Mangalindan
Not to mention the video from the other side of the tracks. ruclips.net/video/Zc31oOBBBFo/видео.html
Que horrible descarrilamiento del tren canadian pacific 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
How often do CSX and NS trains pass through here? Thanks!
awesome
Nice sound from the wheels 😅
Another train with empties up front. DAMN they got some geniuses working on the railroad nowadays.
I like those double decker Metra coaches.
Liberty Mutual commercial right on queue, just before the derailment.
Cool!
Did they really get the cranes on site the same day? That's quick. (but what do I know?)
Yeah, the cranes came to the derailment site on the same day within a few hours since the incident occurred. -Andrew Mangalindan
Everything is fine, but there is a lot of noise. Why constantly hum so often very loudly and ring the bell ?????
Why does it Always seem an empty center beam is involved, Hmmm. I'm just saying..
They should always be put at the end of trains.
"At this time, its unclear if any repairs on NEEDED on the tracks. "
What a joke.
Commented that everybody was ok 4 or 5 times. Put your comments together before you make them so it sounds more professional and clear.
What’s going on with all those derailments
Was this video shown to the train crew so they know what truck wheels derailed first & caused the derailment?
Yes, all video footages of the derailment were shared with CP Police and to the train crew. -Andrew Mangalindan
I am sad to I don't know what happened 😢😢😢
Early gang - KCS is best
Extrusion occurred
I really hate how American trains never stop blasting their horns, WTF is it about? They don't do that over here.
Oh come on guys....do you really need all that heavy equipment to put those cars back on the rails? When that happens on my railroad I just pick them up with one hand and set them back on the rails...worlds strongest woman 😂😂
This is what happens when you give up your sovereignty to foreign nations and enterprises.
Why F59PHs 94-99 not running on Union Pacific Lines?
