Perfect for the twisties IMHO. The old (2001-2006) CBR F4i’s are super popular, and decent examples sell in a minute every season around here (Northern California). They are all top end 109ish hp and very comfortable for a supersport. I wish Honda would bring them back. Maybe this 660 is the ticket. A little pricey but it’s Italian and has high end electronics. I rarely squeeze out the last ten hp on the F4i but often wish it had a bit more usable grunt. I would love to have one(660).
The only thing I'm concerned about is the rear seat( for the pillion) otherwise it hits all the right boxes for me. 100hp( more than enough for streets) Good torque Doesn't sound like a parallel twin( how did they do that) More comfortable than Supersports A lot more sensible on street Weight under 190kg( good enough)
That’s a beautiful motorcycle in the racer graphics and even the solid yellow. It also sounds amazing. It’s difficult to believe that’s the stock exhaust. I’m very interested, but how’s the seat height? I’m inseam challenged. The thought of the imminent 660 Tuono is exciting as well.
I think with a ECU tune and exhaust this will push 110+ hp, it has more torque which is available sooner and it weighs 20+lbs less than the rivals. They had to do the 100hp to meet regulations. This is a great bike.
A significant leap forwards from the SV650S. I still have a 2003 model, with a few brake and suspension upgrades. Tour/commute/track days - a real all-rounder. This looks like a major step forwards from that. Can't wait to see & try this.
People talking about needing/wanting more hp. My 1998 VFR has the same 100 hp but weights about 125 lbs more. It is incredibly fast and quickly gets to 240 kph. Is 150 mph not fast enough for the road? I suppose if you are competing with the R6 on track this hp may matter, but on the road I think 100 hp, light weight, excellent handling, brakes and electronics hits the sweet spot. Finding one in Canada will be a challenge and reliability will be very important. Aprilia needs this bike to be bulletproof. I wish them well, I always root for the underdog.
I ride on the 100hp bike with my firend on 125 hp bike, both are inline 4. And he is much quicker, i am beaten in every single way. When we switch bikes i am beating him. So more hp = way more fun, more satysfying ride, more comprtitive, no doubt. There is a small feeling of shame when youre pushing your bike to the limit on highway and get passed by 250 hp car tbh.
You do realize you can add mods to this right? Or that you can wait for the Factory version which will likely have 15-20 more hp? I mean, if you're looking to race your buddy - buy a litre bike and take it to the track. Also, I've destroyed cars with way more hp. Motorcycles are much lighter. Bikers always have the advantage in accelerating so long as your bike doesn't have 50 hp or youre racing a Ferrari.
@@callumaltair9806 Hey Callum, I agree with you. If a rider on a 100 hp, 500 lb sport bike gets beat by any car that is on the rider, not the bike. Besides, owners of Hypercars are almost universally old and timid. In real world conditions and roads I would bet on me and my VFR anytime. Too many young guys buy 600 cc super sports before they know how to ride. In my experience they are fast on the straights and very slow in the corners. Or very loud when they ride around in groups of Nancies at 2 am in the city pissing everyone off and making people hate bikes. Just like the slow and loud HD "tough guys". Losers and posers. Cam

Beautiful video thanks ! Is it significantly torquier than a ZX6R 636 or Daytona 675 ? By the numbers it is not, 67 Nm @ 8500 RPM is very much within 636 ability, 1-2 Nm give or take, but the Ninja doesn't stop there and produces 71 Nm around 11k. I reckon the RS 660 is 13 kg lighter and engine architecture may well change feeling.
Im getting my license in summer and was looking into buying a zx6r or a cbr650 but this is a serious contender. Love the design, great electronic package, very light. Hope it will be available for test ride in romania
This is the most anticipated 600cc motorcycle ever. I am surprised pf the sound of the parallel twin. I thought it would sound like a 400 ninja kawasaki I was wrong in a good way.
Aprilia would want to have a good warrant on them, I know from experience they don't do recalls well and are notoriously slow suppling spare parts, God forbid you should be needing any. Be great if you guys did a fly-by, my RSV1000R sounds amazing at high revs.
Reminds me of the Ducati SuperSport. I think I like the styling of the Ducati more. I think for the money I would go something like a Duke 790/890R even if it's a naked, maybe the Street Triple RS.
Def, the nakeds offer better equippment, approx power, are more comfortable and mostly cheaper. Only if Its a track only, but even then, its underpowered...
I'd love to see this channel be a little more brutal on their opinions. I like that you guys are quick to get out reviews, but I get a hardcore "Paid Off" vibe from many of your past reviews. When FortNine did their satirical video on paid off reviewers, I immediately think of your videos. I will say though, this review seems like you guys are moving in the right direction. I didn't get that vibe this time around. I hope that trend continues as, again, your reviews are extremely timely and well made. I just don't want to get another marketing video for a bike.
I’ve been thinking about used GSXR 600 as my next bike but I think that’s gonna be better choice. I was expecting price of about 13k. But 10k sounds much more sensible.
Not getting 125hp out of a 600 twin without making it more expensive, less reliable, more frequent servicing and sacrificing performance at the bottom end. Probably not even possible with Euro5, nice thought though.
@@HydraSperati They did? The 790 Duke (actually 799cc) is claimed 105hp and the new 890cc Duke is still only 121hp. The 660 is actually producing more power for a given cc than either KTM.
Normally, I usually watch other video reviews about Motorbykes. This one has a good style. Althought, I like this Aprillia, I like more the engine sound. Very good work.
Great down to earth review! I'd love to know how the weight compares to, say, a Triumph Street Triple. I'll sort that out with a bit of googling ;-) Totally agree this package could be even better if it gets lighter wheels (and perhaps even better suspension, but not having ridden the thing the current components might be fine for road use). Interesting stuff indeed.
I was excited to see a potential A2 friendly upgrade for my CBR650r, but at 18 - 19K AUD ($7000 more than a CBR), I think I would rather save my dough for a full fat sports bike in a year or so.
They have gone a long way, i have a 16 tuono factory and shifts are nice at low speeds, but they get real nice over 6k rpm, and the newer ones woth the up-down quickshifter are buttery smooth, the guys @44teeth said it was the best transmission of the 2020 superbike test.
The newer bikes are way better. My 2015 RSV4 RF was spot on. Also bare in mind this is a pre production model where they’re still ironing out the kinks
Great fun bike, but of course it's at least about a 1000 bucks overpriced and I wouldn't get my hopes up about reliability & servicing ease and costs. For the same money, I'd rather get a bulletproof CBR650R and upgrade the hell out of it AND get a fancy new helmet while having pretty much the same level of fun on the road without any of the worries that I would have with the Aprilia. That being said, this is indeed a step in the right direction: Building more fully faired, affordable midweight sportbikes that are not painfully wristy like an R6, etc. so that you can tour and commute on them without hating your life. Only Ducati (SuperSport) and Honda (CBR650R) have similar offerings in this mega underrated class. I only hope that Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki follow suit. Over the past 5+ years, the bike market has been saturated with the overweight, overpriced, beaked, and overrated "adventure" bike craze AND the endless hype over the one trick pony naked bikes. Time for a sensible change, and that change is midweight fully faired, do-it-all (on the road) bikes like the RS660, SuperSport, and the CBR650R.
Looks like a great bike. I just think they are a bit late to the party. What would stop me from buying a 1 to 2 year old second hand Yamaha R6 instead of the Aprilia RS660?
Those two bikes are not comparable. Aprilia twin for the street (plenty of low down torque and no need to rev the nuts off of it) R6 for the track (flat out everywhere)
I do not know why people compain about this bike. It's $2000 - 3000 cheaper than an traditional screamer. And just wait until the 'After Market'' get a hold it. I'm sure a full exhaust system is coming ver, very soon that may give you 10~15 extra BHP. I'm also sure Marchesini will be making lightweight MAG wheel for it (maybe aluminum too). Then you have the after market ECU's that will power map this bike. So, we'll all be right back where we were before. And still for less money. Oh an insurance I'm sure will be slightly lower because this bike will not be classified as a 'racing bike' like my R6 is. Then there will be a 'Factory' version too, I am sure of this.
i want one now 😄 just looks so much fun way more useful on the road than the superbikes you can barely tickle the throttle before being in licence losing territory.
Can any one help been reading online that there is/ going to be a a2 version of this has this already happened or is this going to b next gen? Or is it just fake news?
It might not though. The SuperSport is a 800cc Scrambler basically. That said the RS will still hit 150 mph according to the specs (same top speed of the SuperSport).
@@callumaltair9806 what does the 950 cc liquid cooled sportbike have to do with what I assume to be a style exercise on the monster with an air cooled desmodue?
I did a concept for an R-07 (aka sportsbike with MT07 engine) about 4 years ago, it would fit so well into the modern lightweight sportsbike segment that is starting to appear now.
My advice is to have the wheels repainted with Aprilia's old factory dark blue metallic wheel paint. I had it on my old Pegaso Strada with yellow bodycolor, it's probably the best color match I've ever seen on any Aprilia bike. Those two colors compliment each other so well.
Looks and sounds very nice . It's a shame I can't handle more than 20 mins in the sports bike position, getting old sucks ! (I guess getting old is better than the alternative)
100hp, even out of a twin is not acceptable power IMO in 2020. R6, 636 will absolutely shit on this bike down the straights.

100hp( more than enough for streets)
Good torque
Doesn't sound like a parallel twin( how did they do that)
More comfortable than Supersports
A lot more sensible on street
Weight under 190kg( good enough)
the pistons dont hit tdc at the same time, they are set of by 270° so the crankshaft is like an v4 crankshaft but its only the I2 left
It's a crossplane crank just like mt07
Nice back, we've been looking to see this review for long time. Thanks for the video. Great stuff.
Our pleasure!
The detailing looks excellent. I do think the ignition key location is a little odd, other than that it's impressive!
Can't wait for the Tuono 660 in that acid gold color.
Don't ride on acid bro
@@xXKrisKringleXx Haha trust me, after driving on shrooms back in the day, I’ll take a rain check on that one.
@@Brancovtn65 was it on a motorcycle, if so u a wild one
@@xXKrisKringleXx Ho fuk nah, was in my car. Felt like I was operating a huge LEGO with wheels.
Underrated channel!
My favorite new sports bike, I'd take this over any current 1000cc models.
Very exciting to see Aprilia stepping into the smaller bikes for a change. Can’t wait to chuck a leg over this one, but the price tag though! Ouch!!
200k over 6-7 hours? That’s a lot of standing around! Great content thanks.
It probably involves lots of setting up cameras in the corners, each journalist do a couple passes one at a time, moving on, another shot, etc
Bugside almighty correctomondo, three photo stops, and lunch, and alpine roads.
Cam
Aprilia is gonna hit the Home run in the middle weight segment with this bike for sure.
Yeah maybe in Europe but not the USA.
Great bike & review. It's really tempting but possibly a little too pricey. Out of interest does it actually need wheelie control?
How else would you be able to have a heavily choreographed fight with Mongolians going 150+ mph?
This bike looks like a hit to me. I can't take my eyes off it and it sounds great. Considering the STR as well. I will cry over the one I didn't buy either way.
I really really like this bike. Lovely review too. I wouldn't get any change chopping in my '17 Tuono Factory for it, which, while my head says this is much more suitable for the road, my ego says no. Dilemmas. Can't wait to try one!
Cool bike 🔥,i hope, one day i can bought this APRILIA RS 660 😇
🤞
Different firing order
This bike already won on looks alone😁
Aprilia would want to have a good warrant on them, I know from experience they don't do recalls well and are notoriously slow suppling spare parts, God forbid you should be needing any. Be great if you guys did a fly-by, my RSV1000R sounds amazing at high revs.
Great video nice bike stay safe looking forward to next one 🇬🇧👍🏻
More to come!
Piaggio group got it right with the Moto Guzzi V85TT in 2019, and then this year with the Aprilia RS660 😍
That yellow one is gorgeous!
how does the power and handling feel compared to a ''traditional'' sport bike like the Yamaha R6?
I reckon the R6 will have the edge on this but Yamaha need worry when a Factory version arrives
I just don't want to get another marketing video for a bike.
man.. still waiting for an exhaust with this bike. i owned rsv4 but this one is excitement! lovely!
I’ve been thinking about used GSXR 600 as my next bike but I think that’s gonna be better choice. I was expecting price of about 13k. But 10k sounds much more sensible.
Who said Factory Tuono version? 🤤😍
For that kind of money, I wish it had more like 120-125hp
exactly my thoughts. 120-130@stock, then rip off all the euro5 stuff and get it track ready.
Not getting 125hp out of a 600 twin without making it more expensive, less reliable, more frequent servicing and sacrificing performance at the bottom end. Probably not even possible with Euro5, nice thought though.
@@chazphot yeah that is my gripe with this model. a 2-3 cyl alternative to the ridiculously overpriced r6 would have been absolutely perfect.
chazphot KTM did it and their bikes are generally cheaper than aprilias.
@@HydraSperati They did? The 790 Duke (actually 799cc) is claimed 105hp and the new 890cc Duke is still only 121hp. The 660 is actually producing more power for a given cc than either KTM.
Finally a 600 by Aprilia...I am tempted
I just wish BMW would make an s660rr now. Perfect collection.
Normally, I usually watch other video reviews about Motorbykes. This one has a good style. Althought, I like this Aprillia, I like more the engine sound. Very good work.
Thank you very much!
Expert review, keep it up!
This is $20k in Australia. Panigale V2 is $22k. Why would you bother with the Aprilia? Down 60hp and a much less enviable badge.
I was excited to see a potential A2 friendly upgrade for my CBR650r, but at 18 - 19K AUD ($7000 more than a CBR), I think I would rather save my dough for a full fat sports bike in a year or so.
But this has 100hp is it still a2 compliant?
@@WillBeddoesMedia I imagine the A2 version will have restricted trumpets and ECU.
One of the many reasons why I need a motorcycle license now
So what bikes are really comparable to the RS 660? What is more fair comparison? The CBR650R? Ninja 650? Something bigger?
Ducati Supersport I suppose.
@@snapcountersteer nope. Ducati Supersport is 1000cc, 120hp.
Transmission shifting seems to be Aprilia's Achilles heel. My 2010 rsv4 has the same low speed problems.
Seems like am awesome mid-range bike! Styling is spot on!
Would be interested in this bike if it wasn't for the lack of any dealers near where I live.
Waiting for the Tuono
its 100% on the way and nearly complete. Aprilia have the KTM 890 Duke R as the target
@@visordown Do we know which year is likely going to be released? 2021, 2022?
@@visordown It's going to be well down on power and torque compared to the KTM 890 R.
Sounds surprisingly good
Best sounding parallel twin? Idk the MT07 is pretty hard to beat especially in low revs when it comes to sound
Officially my Dream Bike now.
Fantastic motor. Will wait for the naked version of the bike. If done right I would buy it before MT-09
It looks so freaking good I want one!
What a gem of a motorcycle.
I love the lights
Have you guys seen or heard anything about the Tuareg 660? What is your thought about this engine in a middle weight adv?
Looks sharp, sounds a bit underwhelming. Pity they didn't make it a V twin and or a bit bigger. 660? Or 770?
looking forward to seeing the Tuono version especially a factory. sports bikes really don't make any sense these days on the road imo.
i want one now 😄 just looks so much fun way more useful on the road than the superbikes you can barely tickle the throttle before being in licence losing territory.
Can any one help been reading online that there is/ going to be a a2 version of this has this already happened or is this going to b next gen? Or is it just fake news?
Perfect sports bike! Beautiful , good price and of course super Italian style!!!
without a doubt and a very balanced machine I am happy a machine for normal people !!!
Google translator failed you :)

Cracking little bike, not so sure such a mass of electronics is needed on something that only produces 100bhp, but.....
Hilarious.
What is wrong with these riders? How many ponies do you use daily? LMAO 100 hp is more than enough because its useable power!
"only" 100hp ???
How much do you need then????
100 horses is fine, but when you’re use to double that, I just question why it needs the electronics package it’s got🤔
Wonder how this would compare to the Ducati Supersport? That seems to be its natural competition.
It might not though.
The SuperSport is a 800cc Scrambler basically.
That said the RS will still hit 150 mph according to the specs (same top speed of the SuperSport).
@@callumaltair9806 what does the 950 cc liquid cooled sportbike have to do with what I assume to be a style exercise on the monster with an air cooled desmodue?

fredstah714 metal not sure is alloy or steel
I would say the MT07 is the best sounding parallel twin but let´s wait and hear the RS660 with an exhaust
Mmmm that TFT and beautiful styling/look. I want it. But not yet. 😝
RS 660 gonna be a perfect bike for middleweight Sport bike lover, like me 😍
It's probably the closest to stuff like mt-07/sv650 faired and with modded suspension and engine.
Wish Yamaha would fit it’s MT07 engine into a chassis like this or Honda/Kawasaki built a 270 degree crank bike.
Yamaha could have 100% stolen all Ninja 650 sales, but they've done sweet f.a. for years now.
I did a concept for an R-07 (aka sportsbike with MT07 engine) about 4 years ago, it would fit so well into the modern lightweight sportsbike segment that is starting to appear now.
Love the yellow body work and the red wheels. Just not together.
Yes, a lot of people have pointed that out. People that buy Acid Gold will probably immediately repaint the wheels to black or silver.
I can't stand the yellow. The red and blue though 👌
My advice is to have the wheels repainted with Aprilia's old factory dark blue metallic wheel paint. I had it on my old Pegaso Strada with yellow bodycolor, it's probably the best color match I've ever seen on any Aprilia bike. Those two colors compliment each other so well.
