I think in a previous pod he said it was sorted out through the “emergency renewal” route which requires a trip to the passport office and a confirmed flight booking.
The lack of apparent car culture in Spain it's more related with lower income than a Capitalist country as the USA, congested cities, living mostly in apartments, and accessible public transportation.
I do envy Barcellona and their "super block" urban design. I don't know if that's ubiquitous across all Spanish cities, but that seems a much more social and livable way to construct cities.
As far as affecting car culture, accessible public transport would lead to less personal car ownership, sure, and I'm guessing Spain has polluter taxes and import taxes that restrict the availability of imports and large displacement engines, which again would dampen enthusiasm for car ownership. Those two factors along with a lower median income level than most other Western countries are probably the biggest factors. But I don't think living in an apartment or a congested city is any particular hinderance to car culture. LA has plenty of apartments and congestion and it has a vibrant car scene, same with Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, etc, etc.
I think the other hindrance is the implementation of low emission zones in city centres. Depending on what emission standards a car was built for, you might not even be able to drive it in some city centres.
@@kylem324 More like high taxes to own a car with big engine displacement. As an example, a 4 cylinder engine with more than 2.0L, pays exorbitant taxes. Just imagine with some V8, it would be obnoxious.
@@RogerM88 that and Spain has one of the most expensive used cars in Europe IMO, especially anything interesting. Not surprised enthusiast cars aren’t much of a thing!

Re: Misha's video with the Ioniq, only place you could tell the Ioniq 5N was a near 2.5 ton car was when he almost rear ended a red Seat Leon Cupra and on some corner entries, they really need to get weight down but agree that that looks supremely fun. Pity he kept it with just the noise on and no gears, it sounded like a sports bike stuck in 4th gear.
The Aston looks way better than a Turbo S or the AMG.

I love Cammisa, but his take on Teslas right now is so off-putting. I can't reconcile it with his excellent takes on basically every other car. It's like he's willing to ignore all of the ownership experience in order to focus on some weird engineering quirks. No one cares that they entirely redesigned the thing to be 97% of the original scale AFTER they had a working prototype because Elon said so; people care that the doors and hood will slice your fingers off, and the axles will fall off, and the truck apparently can't handle driving through standing water (or handle water in general, on the stainless steel) among other problems. I don't understand how he thinks that his is a realistic take on their brand.

@@mikeye36m3 Yep, that's why they recalled every truck that they've produced for faulty accelerator pedals that get stuck in the full throttle position: because it's a factually correct car. SMH.

Isuzu I-mark RS (handling by Lotus) LOL i was about to buy one when i was 16 for my first car for 300$, went and saw it - thought it was epic - but didnt know who could/i couldnt work on cars at the time so i passed on it. Haven't seen another one in almost 20yrs - i told my wife if i find one again i AM going to buy it and we are just going to deal with it.

One thought on the lack of a car culture in Spain, relative to their neighbors is that Spain was a repressive, economically closed-off country until the early sixties when longtime dictator Franco was forced to liberalize. Prior to then, Franco believed in keeping Spain isolated, or what he considered "self-sufficient." Cars were a sparse luxury enjoyed by a narrow percentage and even then the industry was largely nationalized and there weren't many imports.
You really believe that? It's more related to economical reasons such as income, and housing being mostly apartments. Add to that congested cities, and access to public transportation.

Answer, Spain's lack of an integrated market economy and isolation throughout the post-war means those things weren't valued and that might be an enduring generational attitude

I love Aston Martin as a brand as well. I'm happy to hear the new Vantage seems to be a step in the right direction. There's a part of me that really wants to see AM surprise Ferrari, just like one good car that could best them. Just from a fan perspective. There's a new Vanquish coming out soon, and I can't but wonder if it'll just be a lighter faster DBS Superleggera but not enough to push innovation much further.
Matt's reasoning for wearing the mask in this instance is the appropriate usage for the mask. it's the other way around where the mask makes you look stupid (i.e. when you are perfectly healthy, but wear the mask in a feeble attempt to protect yourself from rogue airborne particles).
also Matt gave the worst advertisement for Lexington, KY I've ever heard lol

Americans would love to have a sedan worth buying. FWD american sedans are garbage and the AWD versions are only available in high end models. I would like to see if GM and Ford could build a sedan that competes with an A4. AWD matters and that is why SUV'S sell.
That’s ship has sailed. They stopped making them because people don’t want them. They want to sit higher and have more cargo capacity in a SUV.
@@Bob_Smith19 I disagree. in my area its about AWD. I do a lot of sedan work but almost all of them are Audi because its most affordable not because they love the brand. Your right GM and Ford killed themselves 25 yrs ago when they made everything fwd including suvs. for my area its a joke the only american vehicles that make sense are high end models but a base model European car gets me what i need. It wouldnt bother me if they went out of business they have nothing to offer besides trucks.

You're a smart dude, please read the Cochrane peer reviewed study on mask usage.
Those types of masks are useless deterring anything besides dust particles. They are like virtue signalling fashion accessories. Or do the podcast outside, via video conference, or use a Chemistry Lab grade respirator mask.
it makes sense for someone to wear it in this case. if you're sick and still have to be around people, you should wear a mask just to be considerate and keep from spreading your own particles into the air. it's no space helmet but it's better than nothing.
