Thanks for keeping Number 13 and her calf. Sounds like a great solution (especially since you explained the different feed types for the animal in the different stages of life!) We love a happy ending and look forward to updates, even if it's just to say they're doing well! 💜🌞🌵😷
Farmer Tyler, Love how you talk to your cows. If i was a cow, i would want to live on your ranch. Tossing down hay brings back many memories of tosding down hay and straw from the hay mow . Take care Mr., Mrs. And Baby FTR.
Best wishes for that little calf to have the strength to feed and thrive. I feel for that poor Mama who aborted her calf. I know your operation is a business, but I also believe you always have the best interest of the animal in mind. Thank you for bringing us along.
Good Morning Tyley Thanks for keeping baby & mother together. It really amaze me you do a wonderful job working by yourself. Yes that hay look like it going to fall. Please be careful. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed day.
Grew up on dairy farm calves only spent first 24 hours with mom to get colostrum. They did get their moms milk for first few days. Glad you explain why you do what you do. It helps those who don’t understand why you do it.
Good job successfully weaning the calves. Brings back memories when I was younger growing up on the farm. Your explanations for each process helps those that have never experienced the challenges of this process or those who don't understand why it's done. You have a good looking set of calves to fatten up for market.
You do one heck of a job for a one-man operation. I know farmers that couldn't have sorted those cows/calves with three men working at it. I like the way you take care of your stock. Good video.
You're the best separator of cattle I've ever seen.....I can herd them all...lucky for me it's a small herd...everyone is just going thru the squeeze chute to be separated there for loading...even if we have to back the truck up...in and out...it's still a brute force method of mechanical separation.
One man operation can be really difficult, and a test of one’s patience, but you make it look fairly easy! Tip of the hat to you Tyler! Someone must be living right not to have their camera stepped on in that situation!😉😁 Excellent video of your weaning process!👍👍
And he also has a full-time job as a fabricator tough clearly he loves what he's doing that's why I sent him an Amazon gift card because I appreciate his straightforward content
Your farming methods are kinder for the animals. I've watched some dairy farmers on here and it leaves me feeling ashamed to be human. You really care about your animals and that they get to be outside and graze
I am thinking it would be a good thing to film the fence line and the racket they make. I am certain there are many folks who have no clue what you are talking about. Personally, I like this style of weaning as well. Plus, if you have a determined calf and mom they will work out a way to nurse. 🤣
You. Are. Incredible my friend. WOW Hats off to you and your family. And Hank ♥️♥️🤩🥰🥰 Edit: and that guitar playing of your's is what we need in the world right now!!! Lol 🙌 🙌
Both the cows and calves are looking really good. Big calves coming off those cows and the are holding their own. Love to watch your patience and quiet way with the cattle. Thanks for shoving those tilting bales off the stack...they made me nervous! Will be interesting to see the cull cow video. Thanks for sharing your time and livestock with us.
New subscriber here, really enjoy watching your videos. There is something so serene in watching you work your livestock. You appear to be a patient, skilled and good hearted steward. I'm a city girl but love all animals and it pains me to think of animals being mistreated. Thank you for your considerate care of your animals. Glad you're living your dream, wishing nothing but the best for you and your lovely family.
Your videos are so informative! A person could probably get a good start with a small herd from these videos. Reminds me of helping my grandpa with his herefords when I was a kid. He always had fewer than 10 head, and it was STILL a lot of work, in all kinds of weather (east-central MO).
Hi! I'm curious, how many calves did you wean that day? and how long did it take you to separate all the calves from their mother? Btw thank you for explaining everything in such detail!
The bars are there so they can’t jump through and they are at an angle because it discourages them from pulling hay out on the ground. The angle I use is 30 degrees, seems to work!
Is there a video that talks about the cow with 6 udders that nearly backed over the camera? It was a “wait, what?” moment. Is that something that happens often with cows?
Leaning Tower of Pisa. On the ground looking at it doesn’t seem like it is leaning that bad. Start climbing up the Tower you really notice the tilt. Get to the top and you are for sure feel as if you will fall out and the Tower is going to tumble over.
Maybe you could put something on the top of a few of those wooden fence posts that would hold the camera. That way it wouldn't be near the legs of the cattle. You could put them at strategic spots around the corral and be able to just move the camera as needed
What happened to that pretty little Sadie. I thought you were going to train her to help you with these kind of chores. We do enjoy your videos. You show what real life is like on the ranch. Thanks!
My grandpa always said it was better to immediately trailer the calves completely across town in a pasture away from major roads and highways. They make the transition faster then the mothers.
I admire your calm handling techniques.. they were really cooperative for u. Do you think all the pasture moves have left them More trained to herd for u?
have you ever tried to nose clips, to keep the calves from sucking? so you don't have to separate them from their mothers. Seen on another channel. Just asking.
I have to know, what is the name of the post hole diggers you used a few videos ago when finishing the corral? They seem to work the opposite of conventional post hole diggers, and frankly look like an ingenious design.
I’m impressed with the long whip where can I get one or what is it called I have trouble getting my wife to go where I want Lol Ps I am joking for you who think I’m a wife beater It’s hard getting a cattle prod in uk now and the dogs collar what shocks they are illegal
Hi from Namibia. We have a device here called a "neusring", directly translates to nose-ring that fits to the nose of the calf to be weaned. As the calf tries to suckle, the spikes on the nose-ring irritate the soft under parts of the cow and she moves away. This discourages the calf from suckling, but the cow is still there, her comforting presence reducing the weaning stress on both the calf and the mother. Hit me up buddy.
Curious as to why you wait until 8.5 months to wean, we typically wean between 4-5 months so that March/April calves can be sold late October/ early November. I’d rather not pay to feed them through the winter. Climate differences maybe (Texas) or different end goals for your calves?
Never seen someone work cattle and be so calm about it. Worming a herd of 30 was chaos one guy working cattle. screaming at two other people. His wife and myself. Wife was chuting them for worming and shots and I was closing the weighing gate. Pure chaos
@@farmertylerranch4399 I like to suggest you put a creep panel up so they could possibly find their way to the manger. They almost sort themselves. You have really nice calves.
So appreciate your explanations and how there is so much science behind what so many take for granted.

Mooing...until the cattle adjust.
Awesome job on the one man parting of moms
& calves...👍
Thank you!
You have a calming and humane approach to farming, thank you.
FTR, your ability never ceases to amaze me my friend.
Thank you!
Could you explain how the cows deal with not having a he calves to drink their milk. Does it hurt them before production stops
Farmer Tyler,
Love how you talk to your cows.

One man band well done so very hard to do thanks for sharing buddy
Love your farming style, Tyler !! You certainly care about ALL your cattle and the positive and negative results of every decision you make !!
Best wishes for that little calf to have the strength to feed and thrive.

It is like you are working with a live rubics cube. Great content

Thanks Chris!

Tyler we love how you care about each animal so much! That calf was in the best hand from the beginning and has a better chance because of you!
The cows and calves all look so nicely filled out and in great condition heading into winter. Great looking herd.
You do one heck of a job for a one-man operation. I know farmers that couldn't have sorted those cows/calves with three men working at it. I like the way you take care of your stock. Good video.
Thank you Steve! I give most of the credit to the corral layout

Your corral system is working and looking great!
The momma cows seemed to be kicking up their heels, "no more kids". Loved watching.
Excellent love to see them jumping around wagging there tails , makes them a happy herd😊
I do like the way you first explain what you are doing and then doing it. thanks for your upload.
Great job thanks for sharing God bless you and your family

Some very nice looking calves, stocky!
With cattle, patience pays off. At least you won’t have to listen to all the bawling that is getting ready to happen!!! LOL.
Very true!!

Thank you so much Gary I appreciate that!
The herd looks great, Tyler. And that little heifer seems really nice.
Thank you for the video 😊
Your animals are very healthy and happy.
All the best from Morocco
I also wanted to add rewatching this. That's gotta be a drag going through certain gates to get to one place
Some of those cows look downright happy to be “free”
Always like come home from work ! then the farm and relaxing with some Farmer Tyler Ranch !
Farmer Tyler I think you might be ready for a show on RFD TV 😎👏👏👏👏
Always enjoy your videos, Tyler
Hi! I'm curious, how many calves did you wean that day? and how long did it take you to separate all the calves from their mother?
Btw thank you for explaining everything in such detail!
Tyler your cows look to be in good flesh which is pretty awesome considering the huge calves on them.
Could you answer a few question? Why are the bars in the manger, and why are they at an angle? Is there a specific angle to use?
The bars are there so they can’t jump through and they are at an angle because it discourages them from pulling hay out on the ground. The angle I use is 30 degrees, seems to work!
@@farmertylerranch4399 Thanks for the answer.
Great job n very nice video. Would love to see how your little girl has grown.💪🚜🐴🇺🇸
You have such a gentle heard. Are you going to do a drone shot of the weaning process along the fence?
Hey Tyler did you play some basketball has a kid? Pretty good accuracy tossing those partial bails down!
Thanks again for sharing your videos!
Haha! No kidding!!!
Haha!
Another good video, as always!
I enjoy your video keep up the good work stay warm 👍
Fence line weaning is the way to go. Good job.
Thanks for the video. Please can you describe the whip you use. It is hard to see in your video. Did you buy it? Make, model?
Went through alright. Mom was ready to get to her calf
Hats off to you brother! In case you haven't heard......... they do make round bales!!!!! No way in hell I will be throwing squares!!! LOL
Haha!
We just worked all our cows and calves today. My hat is off to you doing it by yourself!! How many different cameras do you use?
First off thank you! I mostly rely on one camera but on days like this I have three going typically plus the drone
It takes a lot of skill to separate those calves.
Great video! I even saw one cow stop and do a double take on your nice new corral work. Be careful on those leaners!
Ha I think that she appreciated it!
Is there a video that talks about the cow with 6 udders that nearly backed over the camera? It was a “wait, what?” moment. Is that something that happens often with cows?
love the way you throw the hay down in the manger for them and some just get whacked by some hay. Lol
Leaning Tower of Pisa. On the ground looking at it doesn’t seem like it is leaning that bad. Start climbing up the Tower you really notice the tilt. Get to the top and you are for sure feel as if you will fall out and the Tower is going to tumble over.
Got to say it DAMN nice looking set of calves 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Morning Farmer Tyler....lovely to watch.....what is a Call Cow ( might have missed the word, maybe Cold cow ? )
Cull cows. Cows that are going to be leaving the ranch usually for slaughter
Thanks for asking. I had the same question.
Sorry for the confusion but yes those are cull cows-cows that I plan to sell/remove from the herd
nice calves looking good
#13 continues to enliven your content ☺
thank you. Nice job.
California beef.... that heifer Identified as a bull...! how dare u lol...👊😂😂😁😂
That baby is so small compared to how big all the other cows are. I know it’s bc she is new but you should name her. What do you think FTR?
What is your advice on weaning a five month old calf? We want it to be young enough for my son to work with her for his 4-H project.
It was your lovely accent, I couldn’t get the word 😀 Xx
Haha I don’t think of myself as having an accent! But I guess we all do when the right person is listening!
What happened to that pretty little Sadie. I thought you were going to train her to help you with these kind of chores. We do enjoy your videos. You show what real life is like on the ranch. Thanks!
FTR mentioned awhile back that she was hit by a car and died.
I’m sorry. I didn’t know
Chunky calves Tyler. Nice..
Do you put your calves on any feed? Or just hay? How much protein does the hay have?
Just hay. I believe that hay is 12-14 percent protein
Good morning to Farmer Tyler Ranch
My grandpa always said it was better to immediately trailer the calves completely across town in a pasture away from major roads and highways. They make the transition faster then the mothers.
Hey out off topic. I live in Mexico and was wondering if there was any way of getting Redmond mineral blocks dilivere to me?
Tyler when the camera is off,do you ever give the cows a few choice words?
Haha yes you notice much of that footage is muted!
I admire your calm handling techniques.. they were really cooperative for u. Do you think all the pasture moves have left them More trained to herd for u?
I hadn’t considered that but maybe. Makes sense!
have you ever tried to nose clips, to keep the calves from sucking? so you don't have to separate them from their mothers. Seen on another channel. Just asking.
No I never have tried those. I’ve heard they work pretty good though
I have to know, what is the name of the post hole diggers you used a few videos ago when finishing the corral? They seem to work the opposite of conventional post hole diggers, and frankly look like an ingenious design.
I think it’s a “GroundWork” or something like that? I believe it came from tractor supply
Do you still brand your cattle ? 🚜🚜🚜🚜🍒🌿🌿🍒

Hi. How old are the calves when weaning?
You did good under the circumstances, your camera has nine lives!
Hope you get to sleep tonight, there going to be a LOT of crying ..

Yes I think it boils down to climate and regional differences. At 4-5 months we are still in good feed here
Tyler, how many cattle are you raising right now? If you’ve mentioned it before, I’m sorry I’ve missed it. You got one nice set-up.
Thanks Bob I try to keep the mother cow number at 40 head
Great time of year, nice flow with your heard.
