  • Racing sim made from a used Ikea Kritter junior bed. I basically used about 90% of the bed, some scrap material I had laying around, and I spent about 25€ on paint. Oh, and the cushion for the seat I also had but would cost around 30€.
In my case, it goes with the Logitec G29 wheel and a PS4. Works for me, great fun.

Really well done. I made my son a rig for Christmas this year out of some AAA maple in a style similar to the Playseat F1. I really struggled to find something that wouldn't look just "thrown together" like most DIY's. Had I seen this prior, I probably would have gone in this direction. It's easy to say why not just go buy a rig instead. I've got one, an expensive one....but when your son asks to build one for him, you do as he asks.

It is interesting that I finished a primitive drawing of the structure, and it is very similar to yours), but I have a small problem - dimensions, lengths, angles... Since I did not find any similar schemes on the Internet, I will have to build everything by eye. And I think your video will help me. Thanks for sharing it!

I made a rig something like this about 15 years ago. It was completely enclosed, with the top canopy on hinges. It had the Monitor installed on a shelf above your knees and the top/canopy came down over you when you got in. You were completely enclosed. I put a "kicker" behind the seat. Worked out really well. My family called it "The Black box of Death"... Working on another. Enjoy!! Nice work!!

Definitely gonna save this idea for myself, altho i dont have the bed. But between buying wood and buying something that just needs some cuts, i rather go for the simplistic version.
However i also have the shifter and a set of HOTAS (throtle and joystick set, for space/flight sims), and still trying to figure out a way to make some "attachments" that can be moveable to place the HOTAS, and also a moveable shelf to go in front on my lap for keyboard and mouse for other games or just browsing stuff. All this because i only have 1 pc, meaning that if i go forward with a "simpit", i have to make it in a way to fully replace my desk.

That's cool! All I need for a cheap rig is a fully loaded Workshop, some electrical Tools for a few hundreds or thousands of bucks, an IKEA bed and I'm fine. Sounds good to me :) And I thought of constructing one out of aluminium profiles for 300 - 400 bucks, how dumb!
