I work on walter grinders but they are 15 years older than this one. We also have Walter Helitronic Power Diamond, but this one is totaly amazing. Walter made huge progress..
Just bought Blaser fluid (the kind for regular CNC) for my home garage VF-Oe. Great smell. Yes, this matters: cutting oil that smells bad creates a horrible work environment. Not much more expensive than regular oil, so well worth it.
I like how you’ve included lots of grinding videos lately. I don’t know much about cnc grinding, but I did work on EDM machines for a little while, I’m hoping to start seeing those on your channel next.
Nice to see somebody excited about doing what I do all day long, and on the same type of machine at that. Custom carbide tooling is a bit of a niche market.
@@l.e.bassdesign not sure what they have but most pre setters now have the ability to measure tools. If your wanted a professional tool measuring machine a Helicheck or Zoller are the ones to go for. With the machine they have, the “a” axis has the hollow shaft option for cylindrical grinding, attaching a grit wheel on an arbour in this axis you are able to dress wheels in place. Otherwise you would need a specific wheel dresser such as a kirner 43c 👍🏻
I dont run this type of machine specifically,i run another brand but i'd say a year in a shop (slow learning as machines are expensive, material is expensive, and wheels are expensive) and you'll be able to run alot of different step tools / form tools.
It can take 5-10 years to run one of these by yourself fully and to achieve the level of accuracy these machines are capable of, a year of use is usually a good enough amount of time to say you can “run” a machine. These machines are only as accurate as the wheels you use, if you use sub par wheels, you won’t find the tolerances this machine can actually hit... and they’re incredibly small tolerances.
@@Philiamq Very True i always thought i was good at dressing wheels until they had me start doing sub .040" endmills, and i realized wow i suck at dressing wheels.
@@realYneos that size is crazy, I rarely go below 1mm, we don’t often get requests for that small and when we do, it’s for silly cut lengths like 30mm! I’d love to make stuff that small but I don’t have the equipment to accomplish it to a high standard
for carbide tools they‘re likely to use resin or sinter-bonded diamond wheels, and for HSS Tools they probably will use Cubic Boron Nitride Wheels, resin bonded
unless you need it daily that will be another typical white elephant. I guess in the titan studio it will be a good addition but as a job shop sub con shop that is useless. Good for the show without doubt 😀
Can take weeks to set up a machine like this for grinding, especially with it being their first Walter, they won’t know the software or much about it yet, give them time.. 👌🏻
this guy is good! he is easy to listen to and damn looks like a cnc santa claus - in a great way - keep him!
Just when I think the shop can't become even more state-of-the-art, they kick it to the next level. I've got to see thisbshop one day.

Sets you back 750 grand if anybody was looking for that
If your future is small potatoes it is a big cost. If you are shooting for the stars its part of doing business
This was a funny comment lol

More videos on this machine please

I would like to see more about this machine! Hope to see some crazy step tools and mills.

They made lots of EDM videos back in the day
At least you don’t hear boom every 2 seconds with this guy! So much better to listen
Nais machine!.
Thank-you for the vídeo.
Saludos from New York City!

Can’t wait to see what videos come from this myself. Us grinders will have a say when they come out I expect 😂
Just wondering what measuring equipment they have for measuring the tools they make. And also how they dress the wheels.

This shop looks so clean!
We used to be able to helical grind solid carbide tools with a Cincinnati Monoset.
Very much excited sir ...!!
I love grinding. And a 'five' axis grinder w/linear way's!!! 💣💥💥💥
I'd be surprised if there was a machine shop as sexy as this set up anywhere in the uk, never mind my county of Worcestershire!!!!
What made you choose the Walter vs an Anca?
Great video, do you guys have any plans for an edm sinker or edm drilling machine for producing endmills and drills with through coolant.
How is the dust captured? Is there an auger system like on a conventional mill?
Gets washed out with the coolant. Hose works well for the rest but most of it washes away with coolant.
The chiller / filter use filters with a micron rating (i use 1 and 5 micron filters for my grinding machines)
Ok, grinding some endmill is one thing but shouldn't it be coated later ?
Yes
Not always. Depends on what you're machining.
I wonder how much training and one on one tutoring it takes to get up to speed on this incredible piece of machinery.

I would have went with an ANCA
My department has 9 great machines

nice stuff
What software should I learn for this?
It's Walter's own software called Toolstudio.

Are you using any Abrasive Technology diamond abrasive wheels?

First time fun

I was thinking about that joke to be hoesnt XD
Hard to concentrate with so many hand movements lol but he is good
Tampax usado!!
In the next video, let me know how much it cost. I may forget.

Scott slaps
This time you had to give up on steep taper tooling XD
Hasta la vista Kenametal. Make room for the new tools king, TITAN!!! Mwahahahahahahah!
For endmills and drills anyway, plus their going to need an Edm sink or edm drill for through holes.
Yeah, sadly you can’t compete with a company like Kenametal, even with this machine 😅
Making tools out of carbide without plating, maybe a excuse to get such a maschine say a CC800 HiPIMS..
How much would a machine like that cost?
North of $500k. German precision requires big bucks!
Sir If you are looking for a operator for this machine do let me know ( I have experience of 5 years in cutting tool manufacturing for Guhring India )
How much do you get paid to operate such a machine ?
No machining shown. Just a bunch of adverts at this point.
