- One of the greatest food countries in the world. Food is one of the first things I think about when I hear Singapore. And no other food culture is known more around the world than the “Hawker center”. It’s street food, it’s a group setting, it’s a pastime, and it’s uniquely Singapore.
No other place in the world does food quite like Singapore. A unique, cheap, and delicious way to taste Singapore’s past.
During my time in Singapore, I did as the Singaporeans do, and focused on food. In this video I had the opportunity to compile some of my favorite eats. However, with 114 government run and operated hawker centers, knowing all the best bites is completely impossible. Nonetheless, I feel as though these hawker finds are some that anybody can easily enjoy and dive into the Singaporean food scene.

Kudos to you. Even though I'm Asian, but you remind me of this white friend of mine, his name is Jerid. Jerid can eat all kinds of Asian food, he embraces them all. He can even eat things that I don't even care to eat. Jerid now lives in Thailand and I don't think he'll come back to the States any time soon. You are like Jerid. As a local stuck inside because of the covid-19, this was such a wonderfully-edited and timely video (been having MAJOR cravings for orluack)! I love how you ate with your hands for the prata, durian, nasi lemak, etc. If you haven't, you should try kaya toast, fishball meepok, hokkien mee next time you're back.

lived and worked in sg for 3+ years. hawker food is awesome. they have pretty good restaurants all over that small lil island too.
but dude, apparently sg is under lock down right now cos its now the epicenter for the c19 virus. had already made plans to make a trip here in early march but had to cancel all plans. dang. take care and stay healthy, as always. peace out.

Many things to like about your videos. But most interesting to me is your southern US accent. I also love to see the way you handle the Malay food with your hands, very legit. Also the way you mix the dark soy sauce in your chicken rice, if I didn't hear your accent, I would have sworn you were local.

Considering your love for chilli, your kway chup is missing the vinegary chilli usually served on the side like how it's serve with chicken rice and oyster omelette. I'd say 99% of the local food in Singapore comes with chilli considering how heavily influenced our cuisine is by neighbouring Malaysia and Indonesia.

@@Macoi24 For Char Kway Teow and other dishes that are usually cooked upon order, you can customise them by asking for more chilli.
Your video is good, especially your delicious Singapore Hawker Center food choices. However, please let viewers know where the location of the Hawker Center is. For example, the Char Kway Teow was so moist and delicious but we have no idea where you are. The whole video is too fast and we feel rushed watching it when you speak, instead of enjoying what you presented in front of us. If you can give more specific details, that would be great. Thank you for doing this.

Max, the hawker centers in Singapore is not govenment ran...theyre personal businesses 😉. Their higene checks are strictly govt controlled yes unlike any other countries in the region. 👍🏼 I lived in Singapore for 8 years never gotten sick off hawker food. 🤣
