      It’s pretty easy.
      Usually you just follow the flow of the traffic. Only problem can arise when you find a weird roundabout and there’s no other cars around to give you a hint.
      But then again, then there’re no other cars around either so you can take your time.

    i used to be a bus driver, he is able to get into that little train because he is watching his passenger side rear wheel in the mirror. since that is the pivot point, all you need to do is line it up with where you'd want it to be after straightening. keep in mind that even though the bus is long, the wheels are closer together than the total length, which gives you pretty good turning radius

    • @goglurk2
      @goglurk2 2 года назад +29

      @@mighty9156 Not entirely sure why you'd assume he couldn't? I drive a bus for a living, anything from 10m to 24.8m with up to 3 joints and I'll drive through harder turns than this on a normal shift. From what I can tell, it's a single rear-axel VDL which actually makes these kind of turns easier, because as Ross mentioned, all you need to do is line up the rear axel and the front will follow smoothly. And judging by the video, the actual entry point on the cart for the train, has plenty of space. If I can put my hand inbetween what I'm driving next to, that's a lot of space between the bus and what's next to me.
      I will also say, that the driver is clearly experienced seeing how he gives almost no attention to the front, making it obvious that he knows what he's doing and how big his vehicle is.

      I mean trains by nature have very little issue with weight due to their incredibly low rolling resistance. The car you drive very likely was brought there on a train in the first place. Ever seen the auto racks?
      In the US, while we don't have public rail that picks up your car, the auto racks likely brought your car there from the other side of the country. They're double stacked cars making them fairly unique to other rail cars.
      Just a shame we don't have this kind of transport. Rail is vastly cheaper to run and makes vastly less pollution.

      since we already have transport roads and cars and planes it hard to convince the people and therefore politicians invest in a railway service across our massive country unlike Europe there the overhead would be even bigger because most of our populations on the coast mainly clustered in the original colony areas and the great lakes states Texas and California with a big dip in population density in the "flyover" states
      sorry if this wasnt clear but i do support public rail god knows we pay enough taxes for it but its not profitable so it wont come on its own you have to convince my dumb peers the american people and the corrupt politicians all while the car companies fight you every step of the way

      It’s often easier in a bus or truck than in a car because of the height of the cabin. You can see over the top of other traffic, which helps a lot, especially when it comes to overtaking. Overtaking when driving a “wrong-sided” car is a genuine hazard, best avoided altogether.

    I always love seeing this kind of seamless integration of infustructures. It's almost the most logical solution being approached immediately, with someone saying "Okay... How do we make having a vehicle and taking the train practical?" And then someone answering "...Let them drive the car onto the train, take the train, then drive off at the destination?"
    And that person not being called crazy. I would love to see this kind of infustructual integration in the future.
    We already have so many massive industries of travel and transportation. Yet the hassel of making full use of these cheaper, more environmentally friendly options day-to-day when you don't have to will always be the biggest turnoff for consumers.
    Every day we come up with more and more ways to advance our world and transportation. Hyper-loops, electric cars, electric planes, driverless taxis, etc..
    But maybe the future doesn't lie in those next-gen technologies. Maybe the next big and impactful thing in transportation won't be hyperloops, driveless taxi's, or electric planes but something like this. A simple system of bus-to-train system, that expands on two already well-established industries and brings them together in a seamless way.
    Because those technologies will create something new. Something big and bold that will overhaul what we already have to a record height.
    Yet the Concord went supersonic, and airlines had four engines and max capacity. Now airlines want medium sized planes with only two engines.
    Innovative technologies may replace something old, or may set a raise the limit to what there already is. But the lifetime of an innovation will always be limited. A bullet train is only an innovation on a train until a faster tain is made.
    Yet if putting a car on a train manages to save money on a large scale, it's a innovation that will remain useful for centuries.

    • @Skylancer727
      @Skylancer727 2 года назад +1

      It's more this is more environmentally friendly yet convenient. Instead of renting a new car on the other side, just take yours. We already have auto racks for transporting cars, why not ride it? Always bothered me that we don't do similar in the US.
      But guess you didn't hear, Virgin Hyperloop just went bust. That means the hyperloop is back where it was 100 years ago as just an idea written in your books and not a real product.
      To be fair though, the hyperloop was doomed to fail. Maglevs are already fairly unprofitable with many functioning in the red. They're faster yes, but people want cheap public transport over anything else. If you're gonna ride it daily, you take the cheaper option. Nobody wants to spend $10 a ride daily vs $3 for the conventional train.

      @@Skylancer727 There used to be a network of Motorail trains in the UK. From 1966 untill 1995. The only one now is the Eurotunnel. Between Folkstone and Coquelles in France. It would make more sense in a country the size of the USA. Travel overnight, park the car on the train. Move up to the passenger coaches, with sleeping accommodation, arrive next morning, refreshed and drive off.

    I was on a bus tour to the north cape once and there I saw some bus driving skills! its also more impressive when you as a passenger stare into an abyss outside your window and the bus keeps going.

    I'm not sure, now, but I think our trip from London to Dover by train, then hovercraft to Boulogne, then train to Paris Nord took less than eight hours. 1980.
