Happy Friday everyone! While the 2024 Genesis GV60 basically looks the same as last year's model. For 2024, Genesis has added a new VGS virtual sound and gear changes on this performance trim and if you want to hear and feel what driving around in an EV that "shifts" gears sounds like, skip to 22:30! Its a wild experience and you can expect us to show you a more race car like sound when we drive the upcoming Ioniq5 N in April! Do you think you would drive around an EV with the sounds and shifting turned on or off?
My God for the money it should have 10 minutes of downtimes for charging or less and delivers a range of atleast 500 miles. I'll keep my Jaguar XJL. Paid off at 41K, 3 minutes of downtimes for fueling and delivers a range of 570 miles. Great for as much as I travel. Sorry but till the real updates and improvements, you can keep it...
In January I rented a Model Y for 3 days (via Turo). I really liked it, but before I actually ordered it, I rented a GV60 for 3 days. I did the same short road trip with each car, so I definitely got a good feel for both cars. I’m sure I would have enjoyed the Tesla, but the Genesis was the one that wound up in my garage (I got the Advanced train, not the Performance reviewed in this video). By the way the Tesla was the long range version with a much longer claimed range, but in my experience the range was pretty close to the same.
I've now driven my GV60 for 7,000 miles, including some multi-day road trips, and I am totally loving it. It's a joy to drive. Also, people love to complain about EA but the EA network has worked flawlessly for me on road trips. That said, I'm glad I have the ability to charge at home and don't need public charging in the LA area - all of the chargers are busy all of the time.
Fantastic review as always Sofyan. I particularly liked the comparisons you kept making to its two siblings in regards of what you get extra. It’s not an inconsiderable list:- Crystal sphere, Logo puddle lights, On road projected dotted reverse lights, Electric steering adjust reach/rake, noise cancellation - for an exceptionally quiet cabin, twin closing blinds for panoramic sunroof, unique infotainment interface - the large photo menu tiles, B&O 17 speaker hi-fi system, next to no piano black interior, alcantera/suede headliner- all these are available in the RWD entry level version either as standard or an option. I’m sure I’ve missed a few but one gets the idea. To be fair a few things you don’t get- you don’t get an opening sunroof, not as large a boot/trunk as a result of it being a shorter car, you can recline rear seats but not slide as in the ioniq 5. As Sofyan said if you don’t need a cavernous boot, or extra headroom in the rear, fancy an EV with way above par luxury, then the GV60 could be a compelling choice.
I love Sofyan and I've been following his contents for a long looong time. Even when his channel was still in its infancy. And I truly deeply profoundly believe he is one of the BEST automotive journalists out there. Redline is absolutely in my top 5 favorite car channels. I personally really like this car. I think the fit and finishes fantastic, probably one of the more luxurious smaller EV’s out there. But for a minimum $72,000 and only 235 range… That makes it a huge no for me. There’s no reason why this car should have less than 300 miles of range, no EV right now should be less than 300 miles of range! This is another excellent review! Thanks for doing what you do.

I wanted this a couple of years ago until the Electrified GV70 came out. For a little more at $75K you get a bigger and better looking car. The main thing for me would be the opening panoroof. Genesis needs to make this cheaper now like around $67K or so vs $70K now. Still these are pretty expensive though. I recently picked up an EV6 GT for $50K and for that price it's a steal. I find the look fresh and good looking on the. Exterior. The fact that the phone cable has to just sit out there in the open makes that front section look unfinished. Wireless CarPlay would be ideal. Rear seat looks like 3 series legroom. Rear seats that recline…. You see that BMW 🧐. That paint looks beautiful but the maintenance would be annoying for me. I sat in one of these but didn’t drive it. It looks modern but not mature on the interior. It wasn’t bad but when you compare it to the GV70 interior it seemed a bit youthful. My BIGGEST peeve on the majority of these luxury cars. Exposed plastic cup holders. It just ruins the entire center console of these cars. Here's this sleek console, nice buttons, materials and BAM! Two gaping holes for drinks. Why not cover them? The germans have the right idea, Tesla does it even now with the Model 3. It's just such a visual discrepancy and makes it look cheap. I don't need 24h access to cup holders. I don't want to see them, and should only need that space when I have a drink to put in there. It just makes everything look cheap. Please fix. A simple cover would be great.
Wrong Tesla reported lowest sales in January. Too expensive. Hybrids are now gaining momentum more reliable. Many car manufacturers are now stopping making more full EV and have decided to make more hybrids

As is usually the case, another great EV ruined by an unreasonable price. Hopefully soon we'll see some of the useful tech trickle down to some EV's that are in a price range most people can afford.
This channel kisses every brands butt except Lexus. No one thinks a Kia or Hyundai is anything special, certainly not better then other brands and certainly doesn’t last as long or have the resale value .
It looks so cheap! Those taillights are all in one... light, brake, signal. That is such a cheap cost cutting thing to do, especially for its price. The front end is pretty ugly too! Those split headlamps with multi units look okay. No fog lamps either. The interior is a mess of trims and textures. The screens look cheap, as they always do. This needs a massive redesign.
This is the most confusing EV I’ve ever seen. Is it supposed to be Luxurious? Sporty? Innovative? Design savvy? Small, Large? Cool? It doesn’t seem to hit any of those marks regarding a EV from Genesis. Just give us a Hybrid already…
Makes no sense at all. You can't just sell a hideous luxury EV. Every other Genesis is relatively good looking. Even the IONIQ 5 is much much better looking.
Once upon a time, people used to make up their minds after a test drive The confusion you're feeling comes from Google searches, and a lack of seat time
Good catch,. I mean, still a *lot* more luxurious than the blue interior that my friend's Prelude had I am going to buy one of these, but that "navy" color took me back to a 90's Honda, which for me is a pass The white/cream interior is beautiful

Naveen, despite the fact that BYD EVs come with a lot of tech, they are not proven over the long term. Quite possibly they are rubbish, we'll see as time goes.
Naveen, despite the fact that BYD EVs come with a lot of tech, they are most likely unproven rubbish, we'll see.
Its a kia/hyundai with some pompous upgrades, 70k...i would go for gv80 or at least gv70 non ev ones
235 Mi is more like 140 miles specialty when you use your AC or your heater I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot Pole
They underrate the range. Edmunds tested 274 miles
No one is asking you to
Apparently these things don't sell, dealers have had 190 day supplies of them at one point
Yeah no kidding. Almost 80k for low 200 miles range hatchback and a relatively unknown Hyundai brand. Who in their right mind would buy this?
72 grand for a kia is crazy and only 235 miles of range smh
Beautiful car if it only had a gas powered motor like a 2.5 turbo that would be perfect. Don't want an electric car. Still not enough range.
No wonder Elon is selling so many model Ys all the other manufacturers bumped their heads with their price structure.
Wrong Tesla reported lowest sales in January. Too expensive. Hybrids are now gaining momentum more reliable.
Many car manufacturers are now stopping making more full EV and have decided to make more hybrids
@@Bitcoin_GoldWrong! Manufacturers that can’t compete with Tesla are running to hybrids. Elon’s fad is running out too.
The rear of this car reminds me of the pretty Isuzu Impulse. ……Great vehicle, but too much $$$, and it needs 300+ mile range.
It would look good if it didn't have that boring plastic fender flare
2024 Tesla Model Y Performance starts at less than $45K after tax credit. Performance is better along with much higher range. It’s not even close.
They underrate the range. Edmunds tested 274 miles
Tesla Fan Boy. Back off, Elon cultist.
Theres a reason why its $45k lol you only paid for the tech coz the car is actually garbage in terms of build quality and reliability.
@@jayranum3759 a Tesla is not garbage I’ve been living with it for more than 2 years and I love it. Have you ever driven one? By the way cuz is not a word. The word is because.
@@dougholmes6631 It’s common sense why would I call it garbage if I didn’t used to own one before. I guess your quality standard is very low and you haven’t own or driven any luxury brand. I wouldn’t even call tesla luxury. And yeah keep finding wrong words in my sentence as if that would even matter. LOL
235mi range is dog doodoo. Anything under 300mi and over $50k doesn't deserve a single purchase. Model 3 and Y are a better buy hands down.
M:3 / M:Y are not better buys, they are cheaper buys.
What is your daily drive? Mine is about 35 miles. I can top up the battery at home every night or do just one weekly fast charging at a public charger. 235 mi range is more than enough for most drivers.
They underrate the range. Edmunds tested 274 miles
Tesla fan boyfriends every time. EV variants are capitalism at its best. Yeah, worship at the temple of Elon and his psychosis. Back off and just be happy with your Tesla tool.
I just can't get exited with these "sport" EVs. The only thing "sport about them is acceleration. They lack everything else that makes a sports car a sports car.
I dread the day that EVs become our only option 😬 great work as always with the channel!
If only the exterior matched the interior…
Almost 75k for this piece of metal with only 235 miles of range which we in real world is more like 200 and less in weather wtf.. can u imagine this 5 years old with the battery depleted to its going to be a uselesss piece of crap
In 5 years it will have at least 210 miles of range, and many years of full warranty coverage left.
@@toskin6395 And be worth maybe 20k
@@toskin6395 And worth next to nothing because new EV's will be likely be going 500+ miles.
I mean you're not really buying this car for it's range. The high price is for the name and features it has. I agree it's a bit much but that's how it works.
@ChazR25 that's why the only ev that looks to be a decent buy used is the chevy bolt ev at like 18k
That fake gearing and engine sound is so cool
Lovely car but too expensive and not enough range. Can’t buy it around here anyway.
They underrate the range. Edmunds tested 274 miles
As is usually the case, another great EV ruined by an unreasonable price. Hopefully soon we'll see some of the useful tech trickle down to some EV's that are in a price range most people can afford.
The question is, what is the cost of battery replacement, don't trust Hyundai/ Kia products..
This channel kisses every brands butt except Lexus. No one thinks a Kia or Hyundai is anything special, certainly not better then other brands and certainly doesn’t last as long or have the resale value .
Lexuses aren't special dude. They are literally rebadged top trim Toyotas.
😍😍😍
235 miles of range tho ? 🥴🥴
EV era
Is already dying
EV error
Too soon junior
Almost 80k for this is insane! This should be atleast 20k cheaper. That's why no one is buying these.
To be fair, this is with the performance package. The AWD starts at $60k.
I feel that the proportions would be better if the car were longer. It just looks.....chubby.
bro, slow the fk down. that way you dont have to correct yoursef every 2 min
You do realize he wasn't reviewing a Model Y - right? :)
I'm going to wait for 2025 Genesis Hybrid. Never trust Full EV
Oh, it must be true because wackit6756 is "confused".
Once upon a time, people used to make up their minds after a test drive
The confusion you're feeling comes from Google searches, and a lack of seat time
It is not on my list I will stick with my gas powered Honda Odyssey thank you
lol 90’s Honda Civic interior.
Ok Magoo
Good catch,. I mean, still a *lot* more luxurious than the blue interior that my friend's Prelude had
I am going to buy one of these, but that "navy" color took me back to a 90's Honda, which for me is a pass
The white/cream interior is beautiful
Hot Hatch
It's not nappa leather.,
I hate EVs but that is beautiful. Overpriced though
Range is the number one seller of a EV if it lacks range ppl are not buying it for everyday use so y spend that type of money for it 👎👎👎👎👎🤨🤨
They underrate the range. Edmunds tested 274 miles
@@GraysonA A lot of people out here is not trusting 274 miles of range it’s the infrastructure that’s needs to get so much better and the charging times
@@dtowngreatest3880 Yeah. Thankfully Tesla is giving everyone access to their charging network.
@@GraysonA that’s still not enough until you have a charging station on every corner like gas stations that’s when people anxiety will go away
@@GraysonA and on top of that the United States does not have the grid structure to stop the blackouts that’s going to happen
Having an EV with a fake exhaust sound is like vegetarians eating "meat free" chicken nuggets
Right... It's stupid. It's like they're embarrassed that it's an EV.
The design of this car looks like a Mini to me for some reason.
