Hi Doodle! That Gelli Plate is very Interesting! Those papers you did would be great for a Art/Junk Journal! Have a Great Day and enjoy playing with paints! 🖖🏻👽✌🏻💜😊
Hi Sherry!! I love it. I got better as I went along. I haven't been able to do it since then. Toooooo much intense adulting. Ugh! I hope you are well and coloring with abandon. TTFN.
@doodlerobot42 Yes, Adulting! 🤔 I have been doing a lot of Coloring, then I got stuck on a picture! Time to change books, lol!!! I can't wait to see another look at Your Work with the Gelli Plate! Looks like Endless Possibilities! 🖖🏻👽😊💜
Gelly plates are my most favorite mixed media tool, I used to spend hours making painty papers then printing on them, it's almost addictive, seeing how many layers you can achieve, sometimes the outcome is amazing, can't wait to see all your experiments, so exciting! Happy Holidays friend, MTFBWY ❤❤❤
Hiya Jenn!! I can not wait to really sink my teeth into this new medium!! Too much adulting lately to have another try, but hopefully this weekend. Fingers crossed. I hope you are well and have a great weekend. MTFBWY.
Thank you for the tip. I can't wait to have more time with this new medium. I think you are right. I am going to love it!! Have a fabulous weekend and happy coloring. LLAP.
Hi Doodle!!! Yes it’s Tim Holtz!!! I think the silky crayon demo was great!!! I think once you get the hang of it it’s going to be awesome!!! Thanks for doing this!!! MTFBWY!!!!
Hi Maureen! Yes, I look forward to learning this new medium. I haven't used it since this video. Too much adulting. I hope you have a great weekend. Happy coloring my friend. MTFBWY.
It is going to be sooooo fun learning this new medium. I can't wait. I haven't had a chance since a week ago... Adulting... :/ Maybe this weekend. Have a great weekend. Happy coloring.
So glad you showed your first experiment!. I was laughing when you said “it’s a disaster!” because I will be saying the same thing when I try it next year 😊
Hahaha!! There is always a learning curve!! The great thing with teaching is that when you are watching 30 students a class period with their learning curves. By the end of the day / week etc,, you're an expert. I don't have that tool anymore... I haven't used it since that video. Too much intense adulting for the past week. I do look forward to trying again. Have a great weekend my friend. MTFBWY.
i think it might be the paint. Would be interesting to see how other acrylics work. Also- the junk journalists i watch use several layers of different colors of paints - alerting them dry in between. Then when they are ready to print, they do a final layer of white or black which “reactivates” all the layers and everything gets picked up cleanly. Also- maybe the gel plate has some residue on it from the factory and needs to be washed before use? Looking forward to seeing how you progress!!❤
Hi Candice!! Yes, it got better the more I used it. It is going to be fun getting to learn this medium. I look forward to the challenge. I have been intensely adulting for the past week so not much creating going on. :( I hope you are well and have a great weekend. MTFBWY.
Hey my friend Awesome Hall, so have you found the cats book, it’s so awesome! We are seriously telepathic because I just got some blue masters touch alcohol markers at hobby lobby while visiting my parents in Vegas lol. Light blues, of course ha ha anyway., it was so fun watching you play with the jelly plate. I would say get like a tarp or a old tablecloth to put on your floor because you’re gonna need space to put all those prints to dry somewhere when you get in the zone you make a lot of prints and you need somewhere to put them.❤❤❤❤
Hahaha!! Yes, we are soooo on the same wavelength!! And, that is good advice. I got a new cover for my table, so perhaps I can use the old one for that. I did notice it was very messy. I made a lot of marks on the table. Ugh. But, I am looking forward to playing with it a lot more. Tooo much adulting this past week to do the fun stuff. :( Have a great weekend my friend. Happy coloring.
When you wanted to lift the faint birds from your plate at the end, it would have been more efficient to add some white paint on top of them with the brayer, the birds would have completely jumped on your page then. When it is too dry it doesnt work well. More paint works better :) You will love it, there is so much you can do. And also transfer magazines images...as always very nice video! :)
Hi Hayebina!! Thank you. Yes, I can't wait to have more time learning this new medium. It seems so promising. I really need to watch all the videos again, now that I have the plate in my hands. I hope you have an amazing weekend. Happy coloring. LLAP.
Junbug!! I love your handle. Thank you. But, I still can't say it. LOL. I can't wait to use the gelli plate more. So much fun!!! Have a wonderful weekend and happy coloring. MTFBWY.
Hi, I love your techniques with the gel crayons. I just got the Cats book too! I have the same gelli plate, I found that it works better after a bit of use. When you first print through a stencil and then pick up what's left, I could see you didn't like the texture. That could get better with use, or it could be the paint, or you could let it dry for a bit and then put a different colour on top, that's better to pick it up. Same for the birds, add another layer to pick everything up. Just keep playing and having fun ❤
Hi Kirsten!! Yes, it did get better the more I used it. I think both the plate and brayer needed breaking in. I can't wait to get some more time with this new medium - it is so much fun. I'll have to check out Carolyn's channel. I haven't seen it in my feed. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Happy coloring. MTFBWY.
@@doodlerobot42 Glad the gelli plate printing already got better, it's a lot of fun. I'm all over the place at the moment. I'm colouring an advent calendar and the page from Fairytales and Folklore, I started a miniature kit with my 19yo and yesterday I saw a video by Kagedfish about gluebooking so I had to get back to that too 😅 It will definitely be a creative weekend. MTFBWY
On the plate, instead of using your fingers, use a brayer that is used for that purpose only, never gets dirty. Neat idea, I'll be watching for updates!
That would be an excellent idea - especially for the paper that had more tooth!! I always forget about gamsol. Have a wonderful weekend and happy coloring Veronica. LLAP.

Mesdemoiselles is the French plural for Mademoiselle. Gelli plates are so much fun!

Oh, and I like Ceri a lot too. I also like Carolyn Dube, her style is much looser and playful.

I have seen that done. I am also considering getting a baren. Maybe? We will see how it goes. Happy New Year!!! LLAP.
Hello Doodle so sorry I asked about the gel crayons then found the link that you left💕
👍😃
Awesome Video ❤
Thank you Jamie!! Happy coloring and have a great weekend. MTFBWY.
Have you tried dipping the q-tip in gamsol before blending? I found that works really well on oil pastels.
That would be an excellent idea - especially for the paper that had more tooth!! I always forget about gamsol. Have a wonderful weekend and happy coloring Veronica. LLAP.
Hello Doodle which silky gel crayon do you have. Would you mind to send a link or the name please💕
For more geli print videos I would check out Lyndsay RUclips channel the Frugal Crafter. Have fun
Hi Jody!! Thank you. I will try to check them out. I really like Ceri the Crafter. Have you seen his channel?
Happy holidays. MTFBWY.
