  • I wasn't sure how this one was going to turn out because there wasn't much pattern showing on it. The Petoskey Stone is the fossilized coral hexgonaria. It's also Michigan's state stone.

    Kingsley North is a lapidary store in Michigan's U.P. They make a great cab machine and sell many other brands too. They have a huge selection rough rock, tumblers, grit, jewelry supplies etc. at good prices. I buy most of my coarse grit from here in 45 lb. bags. It's the best price I have found. If you buy using the following link, I make a small commission.

      @MichiganRocks I hate being colorblind I had no idea what I was looking for at that beautiful stone I didn't notice it until the very end, but definitely a beautiful rock!!! Great work, videos & channel man!!! Keep up the great work I definitely won't miss a video now that I found your channel, how much does a beautiful stone like that go for? My favorite color is lime green, are any of those potaski stones a similar color like bright lime green? If so any recommendations were i should check out any for sale, or do you sell any of your stones at your own shop, or website or something? Either way keep up the great work & channel man you're videos are entertaining, useful, & makes me want to look for my own stones around I live, it definitely looks like a fun hobby, so your your channel/videos are also inspiring to the point were I'd like to take on the same hobby, I know there's tons of agate's, amethyst, & tons of different colored quarts, pink, clear, milky white, green, & tons of other common, average, & rare colored quarts, & plenty of others, but I don't want to just use a rock tumbler, I would much rather use the type of grinder you have, but I don't know how much they cost new or used, or good or bad brands for grinders if you have any advice for a newbie life me lol, I've found Agates & stuff but nothing more than picking up the rare rock if they just happen to be close to were I'm walking driving or whatever but I never really spent more than 15-30minutes looking for different rocks, stones, minerals plus just using a rock tumbler just isn't the same as the way you do it sounds much more fun, I'm definitely inspired on taking on this hobby but I would love to learn some tips & tricks if anyone is interested in helping me out a little? It would be greatly appreciated!!!:)

    My then husband rescued a couple from Michigan whose vehicle broke down in west Texas. Wouldn't take any money for his trouble so they sent him a jar full of these polished stones. They are beautiful! (the stones and the people)

    It’s beautiful.. when I was a kid I remember Lake Michigan Beach in WI have not so much ammonite,(am sure there are some) but tons of rocks with fish fossils all over them. TY for Sharing neighbor🐚

      There aren't many ammonites here, either. I have never found one, but I believe there are some here, based on what I have read. We do find gastropods, which look similar. The rock in this video is a fossilized coral.

      Do you find Petoskey stones in Harbor Springs? From what I understand and my limited experience hunting them there, I think you're too far north, even though you're very close to Petoskey.

    You make it look sooooo easy!

    • @MichiganRocks
      @MichiganRocks  3 месяца назад

      That's because it is easy. You just rub the rock around and be careful not to miss any spots. If you dry the rock off between wheels, it's really easy to see if you did miss a spot.

    Spent my summers searching for these on Glen Arbor as a kid. My wife and I had our first anniversary back up there, have a glass jar filled with them!l from that trip. She inherited the addiction to finding them! Hahaha
