  • Engine has 500 miles on it with a rebuilt head and bottom end and of course timing components.
Engine is 13 degrees BTDC and ran well this way for the 500 miles and passed smog (10 is stock).
    10/31/2021:
Lifters were not replaced in the engine build. Suddenly started clacking loud and accompanied by noticeable power loss.
    No CEL.
Oil pressure is good - verified by a gauge in the cabin.
    11/01/2021:
Used a 1qt diesel based detergent to try and free up any clog in the lifters.
Idled the motor with the solvent for 5 min and changed the oil.
    No change.
Bled rockers for 20 min (1000RPM sustained @ idle), no change.
    11/02/2021:
Ordering new rockers from Amazon since they have a no hassle return policy.
If these don't work, I'll be returning them and ordering New OEM NOS Nissan ones.
    Part numbers:
    Exhaust 1 & 3: 180-1266
    Exhaust 2 & 4: 180-1267
    Intake front: 180-1240
    Intake rear: 180-1265
    Facing your motor:
Exhaust 1 is closest to you.
Exhaust 2 is the one right after
Exhaust 3 and 4 follow right after.
Intake front and rear are PAIRS.
So you'll have 4 pairs of front and rear.
    11/05/2021
Replaced the 4 rockers with lifters that had play in the video.
Truck still slaps loud and is down on power.
Upon removing the intake rocker shaft, all the lifter plungers seemed to be seized upward instead of loose and being able to push it upwards with your finger.
Maybe an oil passage is clogged?
Dropped truck off at the machine shop to diagnose instead of buying the remainder 8 lifters.

*02/10/2022* UPDATE: Replacing all the intake rockers quieted the engine down, although, the sever knock was actually bearing related so the machine shop warrantied the work and replaced a crank shim or something. All is well now and quiet. Going to replace the exhaust rockers now since the lifter tick comes and goes once in a while.

*12/25/2021* UPDATE: Replaced all intake rockers and most the noise went away, except for a knock around 2500 RPM+
Truck was also 10 degrees retarded in ignition timing for some reason. Set it back and power came back.
Engine is now at the machine shop for warranty repair. We believe it has ROD KNOCK. I think bearing clearances weren't set right the first time (too loose) which is why it started knocking prematurely and started losing oil pressure at idle..

Yeh, you should not be able to move those by hand that easy. Time for rockers.
