  • Building large scale application is more difficult than many people understand or expect. Join me in this long running series where I set out to duplicate one of the most popular social media platforms ever creating using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, PostgreSQL data, React JS web application framework and more.
In this episode we start out in Java updating our like, repost, and bookmark logic to remove each action whenever a user submits a second request to one of these actions. Then we setup a new service method to create a view on a post along with a controller end point for our frontend to call when a user views a post. Then we head back to the frontend to first fix a bug that I missed when copying and pasting code for the like and bookmark login in the Post component. Then we continue on in the frontend setting up a new async thunk in the PostSlice to view a post, and wrap up by setting up a new observer on the Post to know when a post is being viewed, and send the request to add a view to the post.
