Your a life saver dude! Thanks for sharing this. I've got an 91 609D here in LA and we just replaced the filter and are having the hardest time starting this thing.
Pressurize the inlet to the fuel filter with a small 12 volt diesel pump , crack all the fuel nozzle lines at one time . Restrict the return fuel line flow a little , close the nozzle lines , start engine , remove fuel restriction clamp . Remove 12 volt pump .
@@elmessaoudi1638 If you for some reason got yourself air in the hardlines between the pump and the injector you will most likely drain the battery before your engine fires up :)
this is exactly the video that i have been looking for. thank you so much! the other videos did not show the function of the fuel system as you have. and they did not describe the three different primer pumps. mine is black and does not seem to lock. now i know why. i hope to replace it though, with a newer one. anyway, thank you for this fantastic video. have a great day. cheers.
Great vid, I just changed the plastic inline fuel filter and now it won’t start, I pumped at least 100 times every time to try and start but it wouldn’t start, I’ll try doing this tomorrow I had to cancel the mot because I couldn’t get it started
@@garyjolleys2480 do you hear a squishy kind of sound when you pump on the primer ? If so, the primer is likely leaking and not moving fuel forward as much as you like. You can replace the primer, but for the short term there is another fix. Which is to get a sealed condom, place it over the primer pump to make it air tight and Zip tie it into place.
A good thing to watch is the fuel flow in the first fuel filter, most of them are transparent, or translucent. is the air bubble in the fuel filter getting smaller when you pump with the primer ? it can take 100 pumps with the little primer to get fuel comfortably flowing around.
My primer pump isnt working i get no resistance on pump.im ordering new primer. This car has been sitting for 10 years .Drained fuel vacuum pump through line. Blew air into tank fuel came out of line at primary filter. No fuel at cracked injector.
@@qwertyui90qwertyui90 gotcha, and what do you recommend to loosen the hardlines with out breaking them if they're really really tight? thanks for your response
@@note_finger I would still use the 17mm. Along with a small sledge hammer to tap the end of the spanner, to give it that "shock" to loosen it up. I have a 5pound / 2kg sledge hammer with a short handle just for that type of task.

It is just simple standard vynil clear tubing. It was in the car temporarily as I had nothing else on hand and it had the benefit of working well for the video to show how everything worked.

Exellent video, very well executed and easy to follow.

It's much easier to bleed the system by undoing the nut on top of the fuel filter there is no need to crack open any injectors and there is no mess.

Glad you got going again.
This is very helpful! thank you!
What if you still have air trapped in the system after bleeding it thrice or more times?
My primer is not building any pressure. Just pumps obviously not priming. Any other method?

When I press mine down fluid just shoots and leaks from the pump 😅

Yes, it works wonderfully well.
Not recommended new fuel caused my engine to knock

What kind of clear fuel line is this?
Simple PVC clear line from the hardware store. I used it for demonstration purposes. :)
Can you help me adjust the point of the injection pump and the crankshaft? I'm from brazil. I live in Bahia.
are those 17mm wrenches or 19?

17mm for loosening the hardlines.
the pre filter is 8mm if i remember correctly.
