First heard Gryphon in my UK university days in the 1970s. Was sad when they first broke up, but never knew they had re-formed, and certainly never expected to find this gem here in Australia so many years later. An absolute joy to see and hear. Wonderful music

Absolutely extraordinary and completely unique, they are truly one of a kind.I first heard this back in 75 when I was 14 years old.Couldn't believe it then and still can't now.Where in the world do you learn how to play a krummhorn anyway? I couldn't think of anything sounding more authentically medieval.Anyone who doesn't believe in time travel has never heard these amazing gentlemen play.

I think that they (or some of them at least) are Royal College of Music graduates. I would imagine they studied Renaissance instruments and music. There was a bit of Tielman Susato influence there.
I had their album ( I may still have it) Midnight Mushrumps. One of the tracks was the backing music for the Old Vic production of The Tempest with Gielgud as Prospero. It was a magical performance. I won't forget it. It was 1975. I was a fifth former.

I loved Gryphon alongside David Munrow and the Consort of Musicke, who were more on the "classical" side of things. Musicianship wise, there was nothing in it. The early 70s was a great time for British folk and folk rock, Fairport, Steeleye, Lindisfarne etc. Gryphon fitted in there somewhere.

Brilliant! A bunch of us were into Gryphon mid-70's when I was at Uni and they performed for us at (what was then) Lanchester Polytechnic in Rugby, either 1976 or 77.
Sadly, the same night Kratwerk were playing at our Coventry site and most of the campus went. There were only about 50 of us to see Gryphon, but they put on a fantastic show and we had space to jig around the floor and really enjoy it. The next day, everyone who went to see Kraftwerk said it was terrible lol!
Saw Gryphon again supporting Yes in Stoke On Trent in the 70's. Must try and get to a concert if you are still performing, once COVID-19 is over of course. Shame I just lived off Chapel Market in Islington in the late 70's too!

And what a wonderful gift this is! Since early seventies I've been a big fan of progrock, but for unclear reasons missed Gryphon in those earlier years. By pure coincidence I stumbled into your beautiful music when, earlier this century, I visited Burman's Musik, a very old (almost 100 years) music shop in Umea, North Sweden. This guy was selling second hand albums and convinced me to take the "Gryphon" album home. It proves you're never too old to learn about more good music. I really loved your performance, you all look great (and well dressed :-)) and I can see that you still love what you have been - still are - doing. Hopefully next time I will be there as well. A wholehearted thanks, keep it up, stay well and warm greetings from another old guy from Leiden the Netherlands.
