I was in Punta Cana oh my goodness, on the street fresh food everywhere, I stop so many time, they tasted delicious.. no preservatives.. DR is the best ..
The prices of food is expensive in the Los cacicazgos area, especially in the downtown center grocery store. It’s like being back home in America. I noticed that I found better fruit and vegetables in the street markets than supermarkets! And every time I’m back in the DR 🇩🇴 I always get a 2 gallon container and go fill it up with coconut water, it’s a must, it’s the most hydrating drink you can have. Santo Domingo is my second home.
Yes area like Los Cacicazgos the foods in those supermarkets are more expensive because of the area. Pretty much same here in Naco verses typical Dominican neighborhoods.
This video was very practical ... good comparison video of market vs. grocery prices. The family squabble with little cutie protecting papi was priceless. 😆 The coconut water is an acquired taste 💯
@@NorberisR I think they may take the water from brown coconuts rather than green. GOYA & FOCO are the ones I've tried, very delicious. I like regular as well.

Nor!! Fantastic job Mama !!! Loved the concept of you going out there and showing us the prices of vegetables & fruits! And just a bird's eye overall view of what it is to go food shopping! I wish you also evaluated the prices of fish chicken and red meat, especially ox-tail! lol But OMG look at D.R!!Those markets are HUGGGEE! I promise it wasn't like that in the 80s and 90s!
To be real about it. Those prices there seems a little bit less than the prices where I shop here; plus I am sure most of the fruits are organic there. I will go over the prices with my receipt after I finish grocery shopping against the prices in your video this weekend. Again a well thought out and informative video. That fruit market is like paradise to me.
Hey Norberis… loved the tour of the market. Please tour for us more of these places, things to do, excursions , parks, events, fishing, electronics, building materials, farms (egg, meat… etc) processing plants, international schools, mansions , wildlife, lakes, mountains, etc. anything like that we would enjoy.
I liked this video. Lil noberis and your husband was totally against that coconut water. Lol. I love the coconut water. I love how cheap the fruits and vegetables are there.
Thanks for the video. Very informative I can see a huge difference between the supermarket and the open market we will visit and shop there when we go for 3 weeks next year

Awesome! Thank you! Yes they do sell spinach. I don't remember seeing any in the market. You can find it mostly in Supermarkets. Not many people each spinach here.
. That's how you gotta do it if you move out there. You'd save crazy money. You should get a separate freezer pill all your products and freeze it. In NYC a pilled coconut will cost you @ USD$2.50. Amazing "fresh" tropical fruits. Can you find them from everywhere in D.R. or just in S.D. ? Thinking of visiting and tropical fruits, especially local ones are a must.
Chinola is passion fruit if anyone cares:) they are crazy inexpensive in DR. Here in florida they sell 2 to 3 dollars a piece. same goes for dragon fruit, can be up to 5$ per in Fl.

Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for watching, usually videos about fruits and vegetables are not interesting but I'm glad you took the time to watch it, it is some good information there.
I'll take the freshness of fruits and vegetables of the regular market over the grocery store any time. Where I live in the States, fresh fruits and vegetables are hard to come by. Everything in the grocery stores in America is so modified with unnaturals.
A pound of rice right now is between $20-30 and beans between $50-60 pesos per pounds. meat depending what kind but for example chicken is around $80 per pound and beef is around $140 per pounds.
"No Papi don't drink it...It's horrible!" LOL great job, those big store prices are crazy inexpensive. I'll probably stick to the grocery stores for most things though. #Hotep
No you do not have to know Spanish to live. Many people live here and don't speak the language. Knowing Spanish can make it easier but it's not required
No worries. Is going to sound crazy, but after a few days living there, you will find yourself talking and understanding locals eventhought you are spealing English and they are talking to you in Spanish. With that said, keep in mind that you will find better deals if you learn s little bit of spanish.
Yes these are non gmo product. We don't typically grow our food or meats adding gmo. As far as organic some of the product are organic and some may not be because you have to use pesticide on certain product to keep the crop from dying.
