  • On this episode of the "In Search of More" podcast, hosted by Eli Nash, David Kalmus shares his journey through mental health challenges, depression, and anxiety. Raised in a secular home, David faced bullying and a depressive episode in sixth grade, leading to his deep involvement in atheism. His spiritual awakening began after attending a concert and experimenting with LSD, which steered him towards Judaism and the teachings of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov. Overcoming severe depression and hospitalization, David found healing through Hitbodedut and the 12-step program. He highlights the importance of speaking the truth and nurturing a genuine relationship with God, sharing transformative stories and his vision for an inclusive Yeshiva program.

What a powerful story! The Light of Hashem revealed through Reb Nachman of Breslev is really the light of Mashiah! The hope and the resilience we each have inside our deepest chambers becomes validated and allowed to be expressed in the purest way! Ashreinu

This was great! But so many questions abt his personal life left unanswered. How did his relationship with his wife work out? from 2 different worlds, How did the stay married between all his depressive episodes? what made him move to Israel? ...maybe I'll meet them on my next trip and get all the info in person?:)

Autism (Asperger’s) we’re all under and or misdiagnosed- I can tell by his naïveté and honesty. Also ADHD big component. I really believe Rabbi Nachman’s Torah is a key to healing/dealing with these issues

It's evident based of a rabbi Nachman's teachings and documented history that he suffered from mantel illness

Well depends how you look at suffering with something. Whatever areas he perfected in his life he struggled with at first. A lot of successful people are like that and it's nothing to be ashamed of
