    The Winner is ?....Definitely your viewers ,because we saw a great serie about the different between two great Tamiya Rally Rc Cars and had a lot of fun with it.Hello Mark ,i hope you are fine. Congratulation to some hot and fast stint´s on your really tricky course.Unfortunaly we must give a 5 second penalty to the XV01 for leaving the track limits at 2.02 and causing a collision at 2.24 :-) Both cars are really great and I do not know which one I would buy ,if I had the choice. Have a nice Week my friend.

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  5 лет назад

      Thanks Harry! I love you comment - especially the bit about the 5 second penalty - Haha! I sure caused my own collision there! But it doesn't matter, if we add a 5 second penalty to that run, the second run was fastest and still wins! But overall, you make a great point, both cars are fantastic Tamiyas, and most people would be very happy with either of them. Have a great week too, Harry! :-)

    Good one, mate. Really enjoy watching. Good to hear Alf again. And yeah, of course, bring it on :-) TT-02 vs TT-02 Type S vs XV-01 and what I would love to watch: Full championship runs of Mark vs Rob vs Alf :-)

    Nice one as usual Mark. The XV01 is a really nice chassis. The front mounted engine will make the world of difference on them corners. 🇬🇧🤘

      Cheers dude! Sorry mate, thought I had already replied to you, how rude of me! Yes, I concur, the XV01 is a special bit of Tamiya kit, and the motor up-front does indeed help the cornering, as the standard TT02 tends to understeer big style! Thanks for the support and enjoy Stafford :)

    I've just been re-watching this series. Such fun. Would love to take part in one of these challenges some day. Looks like the XV-01 is generally better handling wise. Certainly a better RC out of the box. I've bought a spare shell so I'm going to do one plain like the road car and one as a Martini rally car. Cheers for now mate 🙂

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  2 года назад +1

      Hi Pete. Glad you are re-watching, and even more pleased that you are enjoying them! It was great to make these videos with Rob, and I think they are among the most-watched on my channel. It shows that other folk like this type of content. It would be awesome to make more like this with you in the future. Yeah, the XV01 really is a great handling car but you need to get used to the way it drives as it's very different to a rear-motor 4WD. Good call on the spare shell, less to worry about after all the hard work detailing the "Sunday best" body! Cheers, my good friend! :))

    Crikey Mark I would never have remembered that course - a bit too complicated for me, but it really was a great course nonetheless. Not much in it between the two cars and of course driving styles and different drivers may also come into it. Yes do it - the XV-01 vs the type S, that would be a fascinating match up. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching this series Mark so let's have more of these challengy type things. Top stuff mate and I especially enjoyed the running commentary from Alf...😎👍👍.

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  5 лет назад +1

      Cheers Cosmo my friend! I have run on that course so often that I could almost do it blindfolded (well, almost!) I did all the driving in this one mate, to try and make it more fair. But the XV is definitely better, then it should be as it's a Tamiya special and much more expensive, with just a mildly hopped-up motor it would be even better around this course. We will try to put a 3 way battle together now that Alf is back - and I will pass on your comment to him, I know he will be chuffed! "and the shun is signing!" :p

    Brilliant video Mark. Very tight throughout the competition overall, but a good outcome for the XV-01. Word of advice though. Ask Alf to ease up on the Birmingham Brews if he's going to commentate in future. Especially if he's standing in the "Shun Sine" 🍺😜🍺😄🍺😜🍺 👍👍👍

    Hello mate. I missed this on Friday as I was away camping in Wales which was all very pleasant and involved many pubs. Anyway back home and enjoying your vid. Did look like a fun contest. Me and Ric should do more skill challenges because we are generally just blasting about in a big open space which doesn't take much skill really. Your winning lap did look very tidy indeed. Most entertaining and of course we want to see if the TT-02 type S can beat it! Anyway back to work for me tomorrow ☹️. Must be summer holidays quite soon for you? Hopefully be some good weather for RC'ing. Laters 😁

      Cheers, Sean! So glad you enjoyed them my friend. Yes, the TT02 is a dark horse! Sorry you missed the TB-01. But PLEASE, hold out and spend your pennies on a TT-02 Type-S. it has so many hop-ups included saving over £100! And the suspension is very much like the XV-01, for a whole bunch less - it truly is my recommendation, and it was faster than the XV on our track. Anyway, whichever way you choose, I hope you have fun mate! :-)

      @MarkBryanRC  5 лет назад +1

      No worries Sean! I had a very close look at the TT02R, looks nice, but like you, I wanted an off road capable car. The R has standard TT02 type suspension arms, totally rubbish for off road. The Type-S has longer A arms pivoting on stainless pins and upper turnbuckles , very much like the XV01. With a little trimming, I got more ground clearance than the XV01, and it really works well on the rough! Deffo the Type-S mate!

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  4 года назад +1

      Thank you very much for the positive comment! Well, if I was picking one just for a bit of fun, it would be the TT02 because it is half the price of the XV01, but then I would only buy it with the oil shocks and metal bearings, putting the price up by about £36. However, if money was no object, it would be the XV01, as to be blunt, it's a much better chassis.

      @@MarkBryanRC that's great thanks! I've been looking at the XV01. I'm okay paying a bit more for the right rc. Thinking of getting a cossie shell and the Martini decals from L&L too. Can't wait!

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  4 года назад

      Cool! With the XV01 you get the bearings and oil shocks included, it has oil-filled differentials, plus all the suspension is fully adjustable and pivots on stainless steel shafts. So much better than a stock TT02. It is belt drive from front to back, so just keep an eye on the tension. I have a full set of unboxing and build videos if you are interested.
      The Cossie shell will be great, I love the rally car icons! Have fun! :))

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  5 лет назад

      Hi. It is the standard XV-01, I'm not sure how much better the Pro version is, but it is obviously more expensive and is dedicated to on-road performance, coming with slick tyres, but no drivebelt cover or fenders. So I could only recommend the standard XV-01 for rallying. :--)

      Thanks a bunch, Carmine! Yes, I agree, those seconds make a big difference, especially in such short tests. And yes, both cars were loose, but the surface was a lot slippier than it looked! When I got it right, the car moved around less and looked slower, sometimes full power makes you go slower, better to back off the throttle and keep a good racing line. Thanks for the kind words, Eric! Great present for your son, must be one of the best handling Tamiyas you can get! He will surely LOVE that thing. I think you have made a wise choice! :)

    Really enjoyed this series. I do think Mark was a bit bias on his XV-01 runs though..lol
    As far as handling goes (from a casual observer) it seems the XV is a little front heavy..
    But once you adjusted your driving to that it did better...
    Maybe some stiffer springs on the front to reduce forward weight transfer?
    Anyhow..signed up to to say hi and maybe add a bit..
    Well done guys .
    Looking to buy a TTO2 myself..

      Many thanks for the great comment, Steve! Yes, I probably was a bit biased towards my XV01!!! The 2 cars are very different to drive, and yes, it takes a little time to adjust from one to another. It's hard to pinpoint what it is about the XV01, but most people who have one will tell you just how good they feel when you get used to them. Definitely a little front heavy due to the motor placement. My car does have more preload on the front, maybe stiffer oil is needed, too!
      Cheers for the message and I hope you have fun with that pending TT02! All the best from Mark... 😎👍

      @@MarkBryanRC thanks for the reply Mark. Hope you are still enjoying your cars..
      I used to be heavily involved in RC parking lot and indoor carpet onroad racing .to the point where we were just throwing money at our cars every race day..
      Used to be "slow is fast" but it got to the point that only stupid fast was fast and it really wasn't fun anymore..
      The reason I got into this hobby was building a car..making a model without glue and being able to run it after..and add as you liked ..
      Which was what Tamiya is all about..
      Which I want to get back to ..
      Sold all my RC stuff years ago and just got the itch to get back to where it all started..when it was still fun..
      So I'm buying a rally kit cause it can go onroad or off road...hopping it up .and thrashing around the bushes..
      And maybe seeing how fast I can make it go in straight line..
      My 1st RC was a Tamiya Stadium Blitzer...
      Same sort of thing .offroad bush and had street tires for road...just fun..
      Was thinking TT02R but the price just kept adding up ..speed control ..brushless. fast ..lipos .(think I'm up to about $500 CDN)
      And that kinda defeats the purpose for me..
      The TT02 kits are about $160-190..
      And add on bearings and CVA shocks to start .max another $70....
      Moral of the story ..don't let hardcore racing spoil your fun..keep it to a few guys in the bush .you will never regret it..
      Cheers from a Canadian born in the UK..(moved here when I was 5)

      @@thercguy Thanks for the back story, Steve, enjoyed reading that! Sounds like we are in the hobby for the same reasons. I never got into serious racing, glad I didn't! It's always been about the building, tweaking and making my own mods that is the joy for me - and of course, bashing with a pal or two is the icing on the cake. I'd say you made a good choice with the TT02 and the shocks and bearings. Solid chassis that you can run and adapt as you like. I hope you enjoy getting back into the hobby, I'm pretty sure you will! Best to you, my friend.

    The XV01 looks the better car for the job. Looks fun as a rally car, nimble. The TT02 looks like an understeer fest. On a carpet race track though i imagine the TT02 would come into its' own.

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Paul, I fully agree with you! The XV01 just drives more naturally and is easier to control in a slide. It would be an interesting race on carpet though! Cheers! 😎👍

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  5 лет назад

      Well, Brad, I really did try my best with the TT02! But the XV is a special Tamiya race chassis, twice the cost of the TT - it really SHOULD be faster, I'd be annoyed if it wasn't after paying over £210 for it! But the TT02 typeS is certainly as fast, or faster! Coming soon Brad! :))

      In my opinion, all the Tamiya chassis are good! I still think the TA01/2 and DF01 are underrated, and can run better than a TT02 off road. We will definitely beat the XV01 :)
