@@Wannes_ Maybe he could get one of the bulk product poly bags that they load stuff into to haul on Semis. Some rock quarries use them to load customers gravel into; then deliver the bag. They are about 4'x4'x4'. a friend gave me one about half loaded with gravel. shoveled gravel out into horse trailer until we could move the bag. Sat around here for year until I sent it to the landfill loaded with garbage.
Couple of things…1. The drone shots made this an impressive junk recovery video, shows the shear scale you were working against, 2. Mighty impressive driving abilities to park the trailer against the wheel chocks every time you had to move it around, 3. Being great stewards of the land is something most take for granted and others just blatantly ignore. Moral of the story … impressive group of guys!!
As a former rope rescue technician, I would recommend having a hasty harness for whoever is working near the edge; he could just easily clip in with a carabiner and improve your safety factor tremendously. Plus giving the edge person a greater sense of security!
This is the best video on U tube. Three fellas doing good deed foe PLS. Two of my fav channels. This more than makes up for Jason missing 6-11. I can say the Crooked River Gorge is deep. I delivered a mobilhome to the RANCH, about150 feet from the edge. I had to creep to the edge of the precipice as well. Like standing on the edge of Crater Lake. Found the biggest tree to hang on to. Call me a wuss, but at 78 dizziness comes into play!
Clever way of getting the job done. Most people will say yes that needs to be cleaned up but few will actually do anything to help with the clean up. Nicely done. As a kid in boys scout I was taught to leave it better than I found it is something we all can do. Again great job
Most people that would Try to retrieve something like that mower tractor, wouldn't likely have the skills set it takes to ' git-r-dun' Safely right?? Now Casey shows us How It's Done!! Enjoy your PLSBend features and looking forward to the next one! Would be awesome to be part of that effort in perdon! What a Beautiful landscape! Love the forests!! Crazy volcanic geology there!!! I would LOVE to hunt for the lovely minerals that are found in your Oregon!! So much natural beauty, but I don't often see examples on other channels of any wildlife other than Sasquatch.....👍👍💚
I don’t have the skill set or the equipment to pull something like that off but I can at least pick up my own trash and a little bit more each time I am in the woods.
Great job putting that together. The intro drone scene was awesome. I guess I was wrong on the date by a day, but at least I had the right month, lol. Jason
Sad that somebody discarded the mower that way...could have treated the mower better & messed up the environment, too...Thank you for not leaving any junk down there...
You should have bought a bosuns chair with you Casey, then you could have lifted Jason up the cliff as well. Saved him the walk. Also a cage of some sort for lifting rubbish up in bulk-ish loads. Remember that roof rack off the jeep? That would have done the job just nicely. great job all of you.
Thank you. Why in the world would anyone want to do something like this is just crazy. Again I want to thank you for cleaning this mess up. Only wish there was a way to find out who did it and make them pay.
Climbing down is always easier than coming back up😵💫 I felt butterflies in my stomach watching this, you are correct, that's a really long way down😱 Makes me mad that someone felt this was the place to dump the mower and other garbage 😡 Good job 👍👍
I'm a subscriber of Jason's channel and yours. I enjoy watching both of you and it is wonderful how you both promote caring for our environment. Thank you and I just wish everyone who goes out on public lands would be more mindful of that privilege. Keep up the good work.
That horseshoe in the Cascade is very familiar to me. Ben through it many times. In the spring the snow last longer than any place else. People gather there after spring and plows have basically removed the snow everywhere else.
Thank you Casey and friends for all the tough dedicated work you do to keep our beautiful backcountry clean. You guys are all an inspiration and fine examples of how to be responsible and accountable human beings.

My first thought was: Are we going to see a gin-pole flip? But I see you have the engineering on that down pat. Count me impressed. Thanks for all the effort you put into keeping our public lands clean.
Great work. You could do with what we in the UK know as a jumbo bag for those bits and pieces. Very cheap and will survive a scrape along the rocks far better than those rubbish bags.
I'm amazed at the creeps that will trash an area of public land to get their thrills from watching something smash on the rocks and then not collect the trash they've created. Low brow people for sure.
This one scared me too! I am definitely not a fan of heights! Thanks so much to all of you that take care of our beautiful country. I have never been to that part of our country, and wish I had been. As terrifying as it was to see over the cliff, it was absolutely beautiful! Take care, stay safe! Oh, I just subscribed to Jason’s channel, it looks very interesting and my type of viewing.
Just now watching your video. The area your at sure looks like the Deschutes river. I was born in warm springs Oregon. But haven't been home since 2001
Compliments to you three men for the effort you took to remove the lawnmower and rubbish from over that cliff. Just being next to the cliff must be scary. Not something for me. Thank you for making the time and removing all of the mess that was down there. I already knew Casey's dedication to cleaning the forests and it is good to see that he has friends with the same dedication.
Nice job, Casey. I was at the Crooked River dirt biking back in March and we stopped at this overlook. Someone in the group pointed out the tractor over the cliff. It was scary trying to get a good look. Thanks for getting it out of there. Why people do things like this, I will never understand.
I totally would have rapelled that for you! One extra "fabrication" would have been like a helicopter rescue seat to clip onto the winch line. Not that I don't like to hike, but it would have been way faster going back up that way and more fun (for me). I'm old but I like heights.
Your geometry lesson was practical and useful. If it keeps someone else from getting hurt during a recovery kudos to you. The scenery was gorgeous as usual. You do have the best office ever.
Great work guys! Even though I’m far from you away in Florida THANKS for doing your part. I’ve removed crap from the ocean and the Everglades and have always wondered how ignorant people have to be to trash up our natural public properties. 🇺🇸
If the gin pole was on hinges that could lock in place... When you get the load to the top, open the hinges and the load should swing on to the trailer. Maybe use the second winch on the top of the pole?
Thanks for cleaning up the mess. Very interesting challenge. I especially appreciated your explanation regarding the snack block and your tripod makes sense just never thought of it before. Regards
Nicely done. I used to.do this type of stuff when I lived in Calgary Alberta in Canada after long weekends. The government would supply two massive roll off bins. We pulled out trailers, BBQs, all kinds of stuff. The bins would typically both be overflowing. It is astounding the mental gymnastics involved in thinking "let's go out to this gorgeous wilderness place and just dump a bunch of trash and expect it to be nice and not closed when we come back".
Thank you for your video.. Greatly appreciate people picking up after other people.. I appreciate the real life application of this simple but yeah effective idea. Especially the application of the fulcrum of the lower snatch block . The only thing that I would suggest changing and switching to would be a pitnal style hitch They can handle 10 times the load on a lifting application like that.. Thanks again for taking care of our backcountry .
And yes before I get a hater comment saying that it's only a 300 pounds of weight yes it is only a 300 pounds And not that much force on it . It's not this lifting application it would be potentially the next when they try to pick up something even heavier.
Yeah if this was any sort of regular use thing I would very much prefer a pintle hitch, and even thought of spinning it upside down for a heavier lift. But I test lifted the front of my Jeep with zero issues and only built the setup for this one project, so I left the hitch as is

Thank You Casey for what you do!! You're awesome and amazing!! It would be awesome to find the people that do this stuff and bring them to justice! 👍🏻👍🏻
For similar trash recoveries you should look into acquiring an older metal stokes basket and rig a harness. Pretty solid device and normally cheap to acquire. Fill it full and lift.
Im from the East coast, and I’ll probably never get to see Oregon’s beautiful public lands other than in your videos. Thanks for doing what you do to take care of it.
Excellent! As someone living with local public areas being shut down one after another due to trash and junk being dumped, I really appreciate what you guys did. I was wondering where this was. We have a place in Redmond and I am planning to do some camping this year when we come up. That dam looks like a really good place and if I cant camp there, then the cliff you were on would be nearly as good. Keep up the work. Loving the videos! I will gladly come along to lend a hand this summer when I get there!
Decades ago (1958 - 1979) students in grade schools use to proudly recite the pledge of allegiance to the flag, which was then followed up with singing "this land is your land, this land is my land..." (lyrics written by Woody Guthrie 1940 & 1st recorded in 1944). I live in the mountains of NC and wish I could come out to help with the clean up... since I can't, I am going to do some clean up here in our mountains in kind of a long range support thing. Thanks for all y'alls efforts!

Sad that people think that they can just toss there Junk anywhere, There was a spot in my area that was always getting tires, beds, old Tv's and more tossed into it, The town set up hidden cameras and now have caught several people dumping, they were arrested and fined and had to pay for the cost of clean up !!!
Oh my scary for darn sure! Every time you walked towards the edge Casey and When Jason was walking along the edge lower down….you are amazing guys. Fantastic clean up. Impressive rig too. Great screen shots David. ❤️🇦🇺🇺🇸
I live in Prineville and know that must be around here somewhere but I couldn't place exactly where? I follow both channels so nice to see you two working together to keep public lands clean
Good stuff.. Great idea of how to set up the gin pole with the added safety length of the trailer. As a Geocacher we have a thing called a CITO which means Cache In Trash Out by where we go to an area and all do an hour of walking the area picking up anything and putting it back at a central area for the local council to come and collect (sometimes the council provides skip bins for us to put all the stuff into on the day). It is good to give back to the environment and if people would stop throwing the trash on public land and take it to the recycling places or just offer it for free to someone else then we would all be in a better place.
Beautiful scenery and as much as I would love to have been there to enjoy in person, you would never have gotten me that close to the edge. Good of You, Jason and David to get rid of stupid peoples garbage.
Talk about a basket case - this one is a classic. Even as sketchy as your rigging looks it appears to be a solid solution for a demanding situation. Thanks

It’s overlooking prineville res. and the start of the crooked river.
@@jessepitt Interesting, I've never been on that side or ever seen the drone perspective which is always illuminating.
Jason, Big man, at 6.3 or 6.4, to be tired after climb up to top, says a lot. Way to go!
I would have had to be winched up
Awesome job guys thank you all!👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸
Beautiful scenery and as much as I would love to have been there to enjoy in person, you would never have gotten me that close to the edge. Good of You, Jason and David to get rid of stupid peoples garbage.
Talk about a basket case - this one is a classic. Even as sketchy as your rigging looks it appears to be a solid solution for a demanding situation.
Thanks
