    Despite the wheel arrangement, she's got a decidedly Yosemite Valley look with the short smokebox, similar tender lettering and the scenery she operates in. Long live 28!

    What’s the music that plays in this video? It’s spine chilling and I love it. Where can it be found?

    For a while after the cannonball whistle was removed, 28 actually wore her original whistle from when she was built in 1922. It probably had this whistle until the cannonball one was installed in the 1940s.

    Oh, and I can’t wait for the cannonball whistle to be back on!

    This was well done. Nice job! I need to get up there and take some pictures. Can you tell me if there is a map that shows the excursion route so I know where to be to take some photos? Thx

      It’s a pretty cool Consolidation operating at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park along Sierra Railway #3.

    Had a quick question in regards to 28's whistle. What was the story behind replacing it with the new whistle? Is their something wrong with the older one?

    • @keijimuramoto
      @keijimuramoto 5 лет назад

      The "older whistle" which can be heard at 3:51, is a cast-iron Nathan 5-Chime from the Western Pacific Railroad, nicknamed the "Cannonball" Whistle (after the "Motherlode Cannonball" excursion trains No. 28 pulled during the 1970s on the Sierra Railroad). No. 28 prominently wore it during the mid-1940s until either the late 1990s or the early 2000s, when it was taken off due to age and years of wear. In the meantime, several replacement whistles like a Star Brass 5-Chime and a Northern Pacific 5-Chime were put on the locomotive until it was pulled from service on December 14th, 2008. The "Cannonball" Whistle was originally going to be on No. 28 during its official re-inaugural run on June 1st, 2019, but the whistle's restoration was taking longer than expected, so Sierra No. 34's Star Brass 5-Chime was used in its place. As far as I know, the "Cannonball" Whistle is currently being worked on and as soon as its restoration is complete, it will be placed back onto No. 28.

      @James Hammon its been out of service for a long time now. To be honest I'm not really sure what the problem with her was, but I know she stopped running shortly after Engine 3 was restored.
