Many years ago, i had a girlfriend who lived in Sherbrooke, Quebec. We used to frequent Toronto quite a lot. Loved the city. The food, The people and the nightlife. I (Jim ) lived in Boston. It was a long-distance relationship that over time didn't work. I have been married to my dear Harriet for 20 years and we lived in Boston, Ma. for that length of time. We now live in Virginia where the cost of living is cheaper. In many categories Toronto and Boston are sister cities. The costs are very similar. In many bigger cities in North America, you'll find that. We love our Boston as you
love your Toronto. Our longtime friends are there. We visit Boston when we can. Alina, as you're finding out in Toronto, the costs of long-term living there is becoming out of
reach. So many great memories of Toronto. We hope to return there very soon. Maybe someday come and visit Boston, we could do a meet up there and show you around.
Sending you much love❤ from Richmond, Va. Harriet, Jim and Yuki

So one conclusion: the rent is absurd! 1760 per month is a lot of money compared to most average salaries I think and other living costs. I myself have my own house in the Netherlands, paying 519 Euro mortgage per month, 1,3% interest wich is very low. But housing costs are insane for a couple of years now, as we have no space in the cities anymore and people are continue to coming. I bought 10 years ago, was very lucky but today I am not able to buy my own house again with the current conditions. Great vid, love your relaxed way of filming and presenting.

I am a Canadian who has been travelling the world since 2017. I am in Bangkok right now and my 1 MONTH rent is $299 canadian dollars, about a 5 minute walk from the nearest metro station. That includes high speed internet plus a TV with international cable and air conditioning. I even have a balcony with a great view of the city and this apartment has 24 security with fob key access. Canada is ridiculously expensive for housing now. I refuse to pay such outrageous rent. I spend about $$20 a day here in addition to my $10 a day rent.

We are leaving Canada ASAP to be done with this. It is absolutely ridiculous the cost of things. Outside of seeing friends, I'm not sure why you would return to Canada Alina... unless you are coming back for 3 months for healthcare reasons or friends are that compelling, it's just a burn on cash compared to so many places. That and quite frankly the weather suck, the food sucks, and culturally because the country is so large and so diverse historically, it's very watered down. We are looking for cafe culture, markets, the stuff that is just not common here but is the norm in many places.

    • @AlinaMcleod

That's understandable. I did primarily come back to Canada to see my family and friends because it is difficult to travel so much and not have that support system in person. But also I am very comfortable in Canada because I've spent so much time here, thus making it a good place to recuperate after an endless stream of 'new'. But yes, the prices are making it less and less attractive compared to what else is available.

She just has a harstyle that she puts up daily with all of it up. Was fun for a while when surgery disabled her arms and she had to teach me to do every day what she did. Becoming a stylist in advanced years. I mean, it did get done, but we were both happy when her arms worked again.

I even spent my early childhood in around Bloor West and wished I could move back there but like you said the rents are just too damn high I was priced out...and for my own mental health I needed to get out of TO,, too much traffic congestion, city noise was getting to me. That 1700CAD rent and 100 CAD haircut in Toronto Canada are enormous amounts instead come and rent apartment in Antalya, Mersin or in Konya City Turkey , pay 1/4th of that amount to rent. Minimum hourly net wage is 1.5 CAD in Turkey and half of all 31 million Total bu blue and white collar workers earn that hourly net wage and no need to tip those Turkish workers, it is like wild economy in the world. İ never give tip to anybody at barber shop, restaurants, hotels etc. You can save higher amount of money to expedite what kind of apartment you wish to purchase or you can make me Canadian

Hair cut looks great. BTW, these prices are not that outrageous. They are better than any major city in the US. Plus, it's Canadian dollars.

We love your video blogs, very helpful. In New Zealand 🇳🇿 we spent $ 12.00 for 2 cappuccinos, McDonald's be about $ 30.00 nz, this is the norm for fast food. If you're going to a restaurant you would spend for a meal per person, $ 25.00 plus. We were on holidays for a week, spend 700.00 nz on accommodations in Auckland for 4 days, and activities another 250.00 nz, snow planet and paradise ice.

My first time in Downtown Toronto and the cost of parking is $30 in 4hrs in an underground parking. There is cheaper parking for like $15 but it was far away at the CN tower where i intended to visit. Being from Winnipeg it was too much even food was very expensive. I had some proper lunch and it costs over $30 for one person but i think what made expensive the services fees.

Great video; yeah - in most major cities around the world the expenses would probably be around your tally in the end (less the daily haircut! :-) ) A walk-around is always interesting!
