- Who’s the GOAT in every position?
When it comes to football discussions, none are more fierce than the GOAT debate.
Everyone has their opinion and it’s impossible to prove who’s right and who’s wrong - apart from those who pick Nicklas Bendtner as the best ever.
But how about the GOAT in every position? Well, that’s a little more straightforward. There are still complications in comparing across eras, but at least we can contrast players who had similar roles and duties.
So, without further ado, who’s the GOAT in every position?

I feel like without injuries we could have seen Van Basten be the best striker of all time just because he won 3 ballon d'ors at the age of 28 and was still able to get more in his career if it wasnt for major injuries
With a player like Marco Van Basten, you've got to simply look at what he achieved by the age of 28! To go up against that calibre of defence in Serie A and do it at the level he did was unthinkable at that time. He could honestly do anything and one of the most unselfish forwards that the beautiful game has ever seen. He scored close to 300 goals without ever being 100% fit!

Martinez at gk LMAOooo😂😂
There should have been honourable mentions for football managers too, Rinus Michel invented total football and Johan Cruyff created the incredible Ajax and Barcelona academy structure; Marcelo Bielsa was a pioneer of the modern fitness-based football games and Guardiola is the one who took all that was before him and finessed it to a new level.
Wenger too
There is also Elenio Herrera
None can come close to Cruyff in my opinion. Don't know if he can manage the egos, but one hell of a mastermind he was🙏🙏🙏
@@harikesh125 Cruyff was the most important Personality in Football history, both as a Player and a Manager.
And Alec Ferguson made football the biggest sport in the world with the attacking unpredictable way of playing!
Ancelotti’s Milan was pretty well represented there: Cafu, Nesta, Maldini and Seedorf. Kaka could also be on that list.
Baresi
Sacci’s Milan was also very good with maldini van Basten Gullit Rijkaard and baresi
He could be the manager too. 8 league trophies in five different countries (Italy, England, France, German, Spain) and four champions league wins

Where are the Honorary mentions for the manager spot though?
The fact he mentioned Iker Casillas makes me happy
I would say that Manuel Neuer has also revolutionised the goalkeeper position. I admit I never saw Lev Yashin playing myself, but I would definitely see Neuer ahead of Iker Casillas.
Manuel Neuer was the main reason why Germany became world champions in 2014. In the case of Iker Casillas, it was more the spanish midfield.
Ah there you go. Spain wouldn't even have lift the world cup if Casillas dint make the particular save against Robben 1 on 1. I'll just leave it here
@@jasveersingh1737 you cant say that Casillas was more impotent for spain then Neuer was for Germany… ist wasnt just the final where Neuer was crucial for Germany.. in that year Neuer was Ballon d‘or contender…

Accept it or not, its the truth. You can only have opinions but this is in fact the best on each position.
Gullit was a beast, atleast needed a mention.
Yes
Say that cah of fifa
He is beast at fifa only
I read it 'Guilt" first time lol
Gullit definitely was a beast, but he was so versatile, he could play at any position. So it's hard to actually pin him down as the GOAT at a single position 🙄
Van Basten should be an honorable mentions he was amazing it's sad that he retired early
That Barcelona team having 3 of the GOATs at their position (and a 4th that barely missed out) all playing together at the same time is actually insane when you think about it
Probably the strongest football team to ever exist.
@@matute93 Absolutely insane stuff. Messi the GOAT, Xavi, Iniesta, Dani Alves alone is one of the best cores of all time. Then you have arguably top-5 all-time players in their position for with Henry and Busquets
Then Villa/Etoo, Puyol, Pique, and Abidal were among the best of their generation at CF, CB and LB respectively
Which leaves only Valdez, who wasnt among the best GKs of his generation but for that system was the best ball-playing GK of his generation, and Pedro who wasn't on the others' tier but was still elite.
Having Pedro be your TENTH best player or maybe even the worst player in your starting XI is absolutely insane
And all while led by either the GOAT coach or at worst a top-3 coach of all time. Insanity
(And then in the mid-2010s, Suarez, Iniesta and Neymar were arguably the 3rd, 4th and 5th best players of the era while Messi was the 1st, but at the time they were a bit unbalanced and top-heavy + the managers weren't Guardiola)

Pele' made 1282 goals in total, no one can beat that mark! O.9 goals per game average!!! Pele''s friendly games goals should count as almost all were played in Europe against top european teams of the time and the goal's average of Pele' is the same in friendly games as in official games. So the difficulty level was the same. Plus the amount of games per year today is superior now than it was before, but the average of goals per game of Pele' is much superior than that of Messi. You know that Barcelona bought games in La Liga, so all Messi's goals in La Liga will be invalidated. Look up the scandal this year: 1.5 million euros payed for referees between 2016 and 2018. THEN There is only one king!
What's mindblowing to me is the fact that Messi, CR7, Pele, Maradona and R9 could all be honorable mentions in the front 3 positions. Even more mindblowing is the fact that Messi could definitely be in the conversation in the midfield as well; He can basically do what both Xavi and Iniesta could do which is what he is doing at PSG right now.
Agreed..That's why Messi is the Goat .. he's is the greatest goalscorer and playmaker
You hugely disrespected the defensive work of both Iniesta and Xavi by saying that Messi could be considered in the same level as them as a central midfielder. For a central midfielder defensive attributes are almost as important as attacking attributes, they are the ones closing passing lines, pressing in the midfield which forces opponent to play on the edges of the field. But generally defensive workrates of these players are very underrated and that is why the answer is No. Messi doesnt do what Xavi and Iniesta did for Barcelona. Messi right now does what Maradona have done in his career which is CAM position - attacking midfielder
@@togrul3954 He's def no 6 or 8 at PSG now but he's a deeper lying playmaker than Maradonna was back in the day though.
@@togrul3954 1. Messi had the most defensive line breaks in this world cup for Argentina, so your claim of Messi can't do defense is invalid.
2. But I agree that Messi shouldn't be compared with xavi, iniesta. Xavi, iniesta was a cm, and whenever Messi played in mid, he played as am. But currently as di maria doesn't play regularly, Messi plays as right wing even in PSG. He and di maria switches their position as someday in rw and am if they both plays.
@@Ruhan07 Defensive line-breaking passes are those that go through a line of the opposing team's formation. For example, a pass that goes between two opposing defenders is known as a defensive line-breaking pass because it breaks through the defensive line. This stat has nothing to do about defense. It is about attacking which is the main role of a CAM
