    Wow, I never thought about including people in my city pics as I always thought they interfered with my buildings. But since I purchased the Q3 and began watching the street photography videos I never realized how they added to the personalness of the photo. Thank you for adding this confidence to my new adventure.

    I take street photography pictures from the hip, and when I come home to look at the pictures, I freak out from people staring at the camera and me in those pictures))

    Wise words and great tips. I’m still not confident in taking candid street photos so I tend to go up to people and ask if I can take their portrait. This may sound even worse but I get more “yes” than “no” provided I ask people whose body language shows they aren’t in a hurry. Asking someone who is dressed very fashionably also helps as they are more likely to want to show off their style!
    I’ve also set up a free website (using Slickpic) showing some of my pics and have business cards with my name and a QR link to the site. I’ve never been asked for my details but it makes me feel more confident that I could hand out a business card that says who I am and helps demonstrate that I’m not a weirdo!
    I have a Q2 rather than a Q3 and I usually crop a huge amount. I find 47 megapixels is easily enough to do that. I bought an M11 because I thought I needed 60 megapixels to improve the ability to crop even more. It made no difference and I was taking better pictures with the Q2 so I’m selling the M11.

      @@ianforber thank you so much for your input here! Asking people is making a lot of sense and can lead to maybe the best results.. before I got the Q3 I thought about the m11 but I'm really happy with my choice. For me the only important difference between the Q2/3 is the sensor size but the 47 mpx is more than enough..
      thank you again for the comment!! (:

    Great video. sometimes I motion with my camera to the person to ask to take their photo. other times I engage in a conversation and then ask about taking a photo.

    Great Advice!, I'm still getting use to my Q3, but have to admit that I'm impressed with it's cropping abilities in Capture One Software, this is where 60 mega pixels really shines.

    With the Q3 you can tilt the screen say 45 or 60 degrees and then shoot with the camera at waist level. When I do this I also find it easiest to use my thumb on the shutter. No one realises you’ve taken their photo.

    Another good technique is to use zone focusing and then practice shooting from the hip or chest height rather than raising your camera to your eye. Not only do you get an intereting perspective for your image but also people are far less aware you are taking their picture.

    Am still not comfortable taking picture of people. Last week I tried going out and still not feeling comfortable because I have a fear of getting confronted. What if a person confronts me and what I should say or do. Until now I have been shooting from my car. They don’t notice me or realize taking their photo. I might take a while to get used to it.

    Nice video! Q; how do y find AF, face focus etc with your Q3, slow or?

    • @iGefen
      @iGefen  3 месяца назад +3

      @@andersphansson it's definitely not getting close to the Canon that I had speed wise, but it's not bad at all. If I take a photo of people outside just walking and not doing fast things so I'll get the shot 100% of the time. If I'll try more sports activities or birds for instance, I'll get my shot like 80-90% of the time which is more than enough for me.. the sharpness is worth it :) thank you for the comment!!
