A Q2 Monochrom was my introduction to Leica. I then picked up additional Leica cameras: M6 TTL (film), digital CL, M11, SL2, and an M11 Monochrom. I sold the Q2M and really miss it. I have a lot of M lenses now (Leica and Voigtländer), but the simplicity of having a non-removable 28 mm f/1.7 lens on the Q series cameras can actually be liberating (there’s no lens choice to make).
Q2 or Q3…both phenomenal cameras. Their simplicity is inspirational…and harken back to cameras I learned with (minimal options). The restrictions feed creativity.
I have had a Q3 on order since August 4, 2023 with Adorama and I sit and wait for the shipment. I wish I heard about the Leica Store, actually didn't know they existed. But it's great to hear your positive review of the camera. Looking forward to your RUclips videos.
Joe enjoyed this, haven’t used the Q series and we’ve no Leica store in Ireland so haven’t really had the chance to shoot it. I can see why your brother kept coming back to those cameras. I shoot an m4, m8.2 and m10r. You’ll find the videos over on my channel. Cheers
Small tip: if you compress your audio *less* RUclips won't turn it down as much at their end and the general volume will be on par with other photography videos. It may also reduce the background noise/hiss. (right click on the video: stats for nerds: YT has lowered it by -16dB).
Well, first of all it was the cost! I was trying to justify keeping it as just a kick around camera, I have two Nikon Z 9’s and a Leica SL2. And then I tried to talk myself out of liking it because of a fixed focal length, 28 mm is wide, but not that wide because I shoot a lot of architecture and it certainly not a portrait lens. But the more I used it the more I liked it and then loved it! It’s very compact, quick and the color palette is phenomenal! So now I don’t have those thoughts anymore. Do you have one?
@@TheJalbertstudios No, I've been shooting for 40+ years. Went from Canon AE-1, Mamiya 645 MF to Nikon D850 and many in between... All mirror systems. Spent the house on Nikon's top glass from 14 to 600mm. Had a makeshift dark room in my NYC apartment bathroom 30 years in the past. Lost my Leica film camera 25 years ago in a divorce. Was looking to get back into the Leica brand. Thinking Q3 or go all out with the M11-P and a 35mm Summilux. For my taste and experience, the 35mm is the sweet spot for street/travel photography. A lot really comes down to if I can live with the 28mm on the Q3 and the extra 13k in my pocket. Or relearn how to focus and shell out 13k because I'd end up getting the 35 & 75mm also with the M. Crazy thoughts keeping me up at night. :D
Hi, thanks for your thoughts on your camera. Leica's are outside my finical reach but I do appreciate them and understand the affection photographers have for them. I am guessing photographers love Leica’s superb quality and build. I am also guessing they are very close to the viscera experience of shooting with early 35mm film cameras. I have just returned to film photography (after a 30-year gap) by reconnecting with my first camera, a Pentax Spotmatic F. The camera was a 21st birthday present from my wife to be 53 years ago. The first two x 36 exposed rolls away for developing; depending on the result will continue the nostalgic journey. Also looking at using my Canon M6 II as the next best thing to shooting with a small footprint camera. Good luck if you are seeking to grow the channel.
Hi Terry! Thanks for commenting! I have had just about every flagship brand of camera and I inherited this from my brother and that got me hooked! It was a love hate relationship at first. The Q3 is by far my favorite for Many reasons! I find I take it everywhere with me. If you get a chance to use one you may love it!
Thanks Joe. I’m interested in your comments. I might have enjoyed seeing just a few of your favorite images. Also, your mic coming down the top of your head is a bit distracting. Try it off to the side or another position. Thanks. Geoff
Can’t wait til i get the money to buy that camera! I own the Dlux 7 James Bond edition which is my first Leica, been shooting it for a year now, but it’s something about that Q3 that doesn’t let me sleep at night lol. Thank you for the review!! I’ll be looking forward to your pictures!! Soon I’ll own a Q3 🤞🏾🤞🏾
Thank you!! Keep the dream alive! I love my Q3 and I find it as my go-to camera. I am going to shoot a selfie studio portrait with it for an artist who wants to do a cool sketch of me. Let me know when you get your Q3!
I thought that i will be keep beeing an analogic Leica Photographer with my M6 and digital with other brands like Ricoh/Pentax... But im getting really interested to get a Leica Q. Thats a pity that the price of the Q2 isnt falling down for the launch of the Q3. Anyway Leica is a brand you can love or hate it. ;)
True, it is a love/hate relationship! I enjoy my Q3 more than any camera. My Nikon z9 can run circles around it in many ways but I always gravitate back to my Leica Q3

It really does make life easier! I have so many choices and it can be overwhelming
I m using Q3 since Aug 2023 n really it’s my everyday go to camera!
That's fantastic! I use mine more and more for everyday use.

I agree! I use my Q3 and SL2 more and more. The Q3 is so compact and delivers fantastic pics!

Call the Leica Store in Bellevue and ask for Brandon. Tell him Joe Albert told you to call.
And thank you for tuning in!
I had my Q3 on order since June from BH. It arrived 3 weeks ago. Love it so far.
Great!! I am going to post more pics I shoot with it!@@JoeGiz64
I was lucky! I had to wait for just over a month! I purchased it from the Leica store in New Delhi.

I am going to check them out! Thanks! I am truly new to this and it's a learning and fun thing to do!
@@TheJalbertstudios your setup is super. I don’t have a lighting setup so makes indoor shooting a challenge in a European winter. So I hear ya 👍

What things about it made you think you didn't want to keep it?

Check back and let me know what you think!

Sadly he didn’t try the x2d 100c or maybe he would change his mind
I did have that. I sold it.
New mic sucks. Had to put my volume almost all the way to even hear you.
Yes, I know! I figured it out
