Awesome channel! I made a specimen jar using your video, but instead of adding food coloring, I added coffee grinds to the water and it gave the water a cool old dirty look to it

Also, if you have problems with the ink running as your putting on the mod podge or glue, you can lightly spray the paper with hair spray, and let it dry, then use the mod podge or glue, it should stop that from happening

Your tutorials are the BEST. I found your channel just a couple weeks before the 'big show' and only had time to try a few projects before the day. Now I can't imagine stopping. I should be focussing on Christmas prep now, but I'm too busy corpsing stuff and making jars and eyeballs. Thank you for sharing your brilliant, inspiring ideas! I am totally gonna try this! I work in a medical school, and these look very realistic. One thing I'd try, though, is to sand some of the paint off of the jar lids, then leave them outside for a few days to get rusty.

Very ingenious ideas with the hand sanitizer and the fish bait! One suggestion I would make is to change the colour of some of the lids for a more authentic feel. Especially the yellow, white and blue lids. They don't seem very sciency. Could spray paint them black and paint some metallic touches to them if you have the time. Or, you can cover them with black duct tape or electrical tape.
Definitely going to share this with my best friend. She LOVES making super cool halloween props.
Also, my Mom's name is Penelope! LOL

You could also use hair gel if you want to suspend things like the salamander. I make potion bottles and I use hair gel to make the contents. It has the fuel purpose of suspending things and not drying or getting gross as long as there is a decent seal to the container.

if you want a creature to look like its slightly floating from the bottom but hold in that position you can do one of two things. stick a bendable/posable wire through the body of the soft baits, and bend the body how you want it to stay, also I have used a cut of hot glue stick to affix the bodies to the bottom of a jar but look like its slightly floating giving the body free float ability

“... little toy animals...” and immediately the cat jumps onto the table. I laughed out loud: imagine him being in a jar. Now that would be creepy!!
But don’t get me wrong: I wouldn’t wish that for him! The guy who turned his dead cat into a drone after taxidermy should have his head examined. That’s no way to honor the love he gave you in his pet life. But I’m happy to see that you love your cat too, by the way you pick him up gently and lower him to the floor. A big thumbs up for you and your tutorials!

You should try edging all your labels with a sponge dipped in ink or very strong coffee. Just drag it on the very edges and it will make the labels look quite old and worn. You could also tatter the edges of the labels first.

Great video, I would love to duplicate this look, but your website seems to not work for me and I can't access your labels. Any other way I could get the templates from you? Thanks again for your work

Was this the one where the time lapse got messed up and you had to do it over? Great jars ! I love pickled punks.

Yep, I missed like a day and a half of those growing things. But I got the last bit. More surprising was that after three days, and I had already stopped filming, they kept growing!

your use of fishing baits in a jar full of water reminded me of a river treasure hunting video I saw where the guys found an old bag of plastic worms that had been in the river a long time and they swelled to like 5x or 10x theor original size. I'd be curious to know if you notice that happening to those jars in the future

Cool, I'll keep an eye on them. I'll have to put some in water, since the ones we made are in hand sanitizer (alcohol)
