Your in the automotive business. I would definitely put a counter in the front office. You don't just want anyone walking through the door being within your personal space if your behind a desk. A counter establishes a drop off and pick up point for mail , packages, brochures, pictures, etc. You can build a angle counter just at the entrance door to economize on space if you feel your limited.

Wow! That should be awesome! I can relate to the dirty shop comments, as I am two years into a complete restoration of a 1970 Camaro, finally finishing the metal work(firewall, mini tubs, new tunnel, rear quarters, tail panel, trunk drops, etc etc. Man, did all that cutting, welding and grinding trash my little shop. Still trying to clean it up now that paint is going on. What a mess! So you guys are going to love that set up!

Hopefully you have a 200 amp service because if that box electrical box is 100 amp, you won’t have enough juice to weld run your lights and your saw and other things
Shop looks great ,I love your channel. Congratulations.
You can't hot wire one of the 120 outlets for 220, because the wires going to the outlet, needs two hot wires, not just one and they're larger gauge wires. You'd burn the shop down if you tried using a black and a white for hot, probably 12 gauge wires feeding a 120 outlet and running a 220v welder off it.
The good thing about it being shop is, it's easy to fish some wires through that wall or just run conduit from the box for a 220 line. An electrician will make light work of that, along with stringing up some new lights. Get some nice bright LEDS! I bet you anything, they make some bad ars LED shop light strips these days. WAY cheaper to run, not just, nice and bright....... Oh yeah, they sure do! Options galore! Don't go with anything less these days.
Tip: get more than you need and pay the electrician to run at least 3 light (3 different light switches) circuits (with each circuit covering the entire room, not just a section) This way, you can turn on only what you need at a time and light the place up like DAY when you need it! :D
I noticed that breaker he pointed out was labeled "AC". They'll need AC for sure in the summer, so they need to leave that whole breaker box alone. I'd almost want to buy a diesel powered 70KVA generator and keep it separate.
@@NetWit20 No need to mess with a generator and feeding it gas. They'll simply add a 220 breaker for the welder line. I'm sure they'll want things simple, not have to buy a generator, worry about it running out of gas, the extra noise, finding a place for it, moving it inside, outside and and or venting for it. Why add the expense and hassle of that, when all you have to do, is plug the welder in? Even if, it's only a 100 amp setup, that's still enough to run the little shop, A/C - welder and all the LED lights you want, but at worse case, upgrade to a 200 amp service (if its not already) would be wiser than messing with a genny. They want to spend their time working on cars, not messing with noisy backup equipment. Their end goal is making money, and time is money. Can't be messing with stuff to make stuff work. It just needs to work when you need it.
Makes sense. I'm a show power guy so I guess I'd over-do it. Generators are not for everyone.

Car flips are OK as long as there is a little charity mixed in there. Like... a Christmas car for a single parent, stuff like that. Try not to boast about money being made when you get going. The office is much needed. It looks great.

That shop will get hot in the summer time. I noticed that big breaker you pointed out was labeled "AC", so that may be your AC breaker. It's a really nice shop and perfect size for a second one. I'd just buy a small 208v diesel-powered generator if it was me. I'd only use it for the big jobs. Then you could even move it from shop to shop.

You could store 6 cars in the back with a BendPak PL-6KT It's a 6 car storage. That would save you a ton of space for working and allow you to separate finished cars from WIPs.
I recently wondered a bigger shop would help relieve you of that cramped one you're in. But now that you've decided to keep it and get a smaller one, it makes sense. The stress is gone and you can keep the toys indoors and still play away. A big CONGRATS 2 U both! 💕

I put the air compressor in the bathroom that way when it's running and you filming in the shop you can shut the door so you won't hear it running

Also on the Tempest I was gonna say if your not going to put a higher stall converter so it will better match that single plane intake that's killing bottom end torque. Put a new/used Performer RPM dual plane on it and see quite an ET improvement with the same converter you have probably at least 3 tenths or more and no loss of top end speed especially if not shifted at the max ! Charger is looking great too very motivating to do similar repairs for us out here
If they're running a single plane on it, that's not a good setup for a street car anyway. It should dual plane for a cruiser. Much better off the line grunt. Best for the street. I wonder why they have a single plane on it?

I'd hate to say this........but, your dirty shop should be your clean shop. Don't forget your fire codes, you have no secondary means of egress in a panic situation. No shop ventilation, explosion proof lighting, you may have to upgrade your elec. Panel, what is the AMP rating? With HD equipment, Should you go to 3 phase. Do you have a full access fire alarm & suppression system per CURRENT LOCAL FIRE CODE. I could go on, you know, yada,yada,yadda. 45 years in construction, I see stuff and BAM!, $$$$$$ SURE WE CAN DO IT! SIGN HERE. As soon as you opened that door, I saw CLEAN SHOP, less restrictions, GREAT FOR STORAGE & office, excellent choice.......
Your 220 breaker may be for the heater in the shitter.
