U don't recommend the needness of bell. Because bell is responsible only for 2 or forcely 3 notes : 1 octave B, 2 octave C and C#. And the same notes without octave key.
I recently bought a Backun traditional grenadiila wood barrel to try on my old plastic Vito clarinet. I was skeptical, but $150 for a better barrel is cheaper than a whole new instrument. I wasn’t expecting miracles, but the new barrel did make a noticeable difference. I’m sold.
Hello! I play on an accent brand clarinet and was wondering which barrel would be best for that one? I personally am really interested in the fatboy grenadilla wood barrel.
I’m playing on a 66mm barrel. I have to pull out 2-3 mm during the summer.I’m afraid that buying a longer will affect tuning in the winter. Will a 67 mm barrel works? I play on the backun vocalise H mouthpiece.
hello, thanks for the video. My clarinet is yamaha ycl-450. i would like to upgrade my barrel. Is the same one backun moba you mention will fit my clarinet? how about the length i should choose?thanks.
Please teacher, I have a Evette Shaeffer Master Model, 50´s Buffet Crampone, all parts original. If I put a FatBoy Barrel and tradicional Bell my clarinet improve his sound a lot? The MoBa series cannot use in before 90´s clarinet, in my case the backun recomendation is FatBoy and I have this question, please help me.
I find that the bell adds resonance to the entire instrument. I was surprised to discover that, since I used to think that it was just the pretty piece at the bottom of the clarinet. A good bell will help to even out the sound between low notes and high notes, and different types of wood will add a different "flavour" to the sound. I'm sure the experts at Backun Musical, and other bell manufacturers could explain how this works. What I know as a player, is that it can add a nice "sparkle" to the sound. I've had the benefit of sitting down and trying several different bells with my clarinet to choose the ones that work best for me.
Thank you. I'll put one on my upgrade list--after the barrel. I have a FatBoy, which I like, but after a change in mouthpieces, I need a shorter one. Right now I'm just using the stock barrel, I can really tell the difference.
Because I'm consistently flat (10-15 cents and close to 20 on couple of lower notes) I'm considering getting a MoBa cocobolo barrel at 64 mm to replace the 66 mm barrel that came with the instrument. Would a difference of just 2 mm bring up the pitch that much?
Rather doubtful~interesting that this instruction focuses on most clarinets playing sharp~~where in reality most players are playing flat on the tuning @ C in band performance. Regardless, look at getting a shorter barrel in most cases and try them out at the music store before ordering anything on line.
So I just bought the backun barrel and now I’m extremely flat and I’m completely pushed in. I tried to return it back but it was way past the date. Can you help me or give me any tips to get back in tune?
Flexibility to clarinet players: Brahms vs Mozart. Flexibility to sax players: Yeah I'll play some bach in a saxophone choir then some jazz tomorrow and later on imma blast out a solo in a Pink Floyd tune
She gave an idea for choosing the size of MOBA BARRELS!!!!! Thank you a lot!!!!!!
I understand what the new barrel does, but what does the new bell do?

This video is very helpful. Looking for long ones to flatten my clarinet. I’m always too sharp.
Does anyone here use a humidipack in their Clarinet Case ?

It depends very much on personal setup, but if you're consistently sharp you might want to experiment with a longer barrel.

What does a bell upgrade do for tone?

Very little
Almost nothing. Rider is more important than horse. Get the message?
I play on a wooden clarinet, but I am looking to buy a new barrel. I am beginner/intermediate level. What barrel would you recommend

I play on a plastic clarinet and I have $150-200 for my budget.
What would be a good barrel for me to buy?
Our Protégé barrel is $149 USD and was designed specifically enhance student clarinets. Thanks for considering Backun!
