I have the Protegé Clarinet Coco bolo with the Moba barrel what mouth piece do you recommend for this set up that offers in your opinion the best sound.
Personally when I tried it I think it worked quite well, though I prefer an R13 with a BD5 13 Series and any Cocobolo barrel, with the MOBA being by preference
I have a Hanson Rosewood T5 and find I need a shorter barrel (65mm currently) and am considering a Backun. I just starting playing the last year after a 38 year (ugh) hiatus. Sounds like the Fatboy might be my choice. Any suggestions on length or other considerations?
I prefer the moba grenadilla and fatboy grenadilla barrels....the sound is more dark....:)but perhaps for the weber concertino of the cocobolo is better because the sound is more brilliant ....

Barrels really depend on what type clarinet you are putting them on. And of course the player, and the type of sound you are wanting to achieve. Same way with mouth pieces. You will get as many different opinions on barrels and mouth pieces as there are people that play....lol.....I've been playing for 56 years and love to play jazz. When I changed to a R-13 66mm barrel and a Vandoren 5JB mouth piece, it really opened up my sound volume and gave me that BIG FAT sound that so many jazz players are looking for. BUT, someone else could be searching for the same sound change and accomplish it with different barrel and mouth piece. If you have been playing less than 5 years, I would not even worry too much about barrels and mouth pieces. You will know when to make a change, and that change should ONLY be based on the sound you are looking for. NOT what someone else recommends. Bottom line, YOU have to try out the barrels and mouthpieces to know.
I bought a MOBA barrel and became extremely flat. I tried to return it but passed the due date. Can you give me any tips to get back in tune. I tried everything
Rob21ization hella late but it could be the type of clarinet you have, or the mouthpiece you have, like you can’t use a French mouthpiece on a European clarinet, it will destroy he tuning in terms of flat it sharp (it’ll be all of the place) id look into your clarinet or mouthpiece and it may also be an embouchure or ligature problem the more you upgrade your equipment the more you have to upgrade your skill and technique
DannyMC depends on what you want. I find that the shorter barrel is more punchy while the longer barrel is more dark and mysterious if that makes any since
It depends of your country temperatures and Hz affination of your band or orchestra. I have a Bb Buffet RC 1113 AG with 65 mm barrel and I'd need usually open it 3 mm in summer to achieve A=442 Hz tone with my band. I think 67 mm would fit better. 3.5 V12 Vandoren Reeds and B40 mouthpiece...
Reed, mouthpiece, reed ligature and internal mouth cavity shape have the biggest influence in your sound. Barrels and the rest of the clarinet body are not very important... The nearer of the point when sound is produced , the most important influence has... Sorry for my english. 😉

0:26 Fatboy Grenadilla
1:14 Fatboy Cocobolo
2:13 MoBa Grenadilla
2:45 MoBa Cocobolo
I have a Buffet R13, with a standard barrel, and an M13 mouthpiece. What are your opinions on how these barrels work with Buffet instruments?
I'd say so...
It depends on if it's a newer or older model.
Personally when I tried it I think it worked quite well, though I prefer an R13 with a BD5 13 Series and any Cocobolo barrel, with the MOBA being by preference
Ricardo, ese picado tan rápido como se consigue, se nace con ello? Porque yo por mucho que practiqué, jamás llegué a esa velocidad.

I'm going to choose a clarinet. I'm going to buy MoBa Grenadilla SP or Backun Grenadilla SP. Which do you reccomend?
MoBa
I love the Weber Concertino!!!!! And I use a Fatboy Grenadilla, it's great!!!!!
I have a Backun Protegé clarinet and was wondering, should I get a Moba or fatboy barrel and replace the default protegé barrel?
ClarinetAddict hey I've seen ur channel

Rob21ization I had the same exact issue I just had to stop using it I guess it’s just how the clarinet reacts to your mouthpiece/instrument

That or it’s not the correct length
try to bore oil your barrel
I fell in love with your clarinet at first hearing. Is she married? - Seriously, for classical music, I like the fatboy best.
Moba In Grenadilla definitely sounded the best
amazing sound moba in G I like especially
What lenght was the Moba barrel?
I have a Yamaha 450N clarinet.. Can i use the fatboy barrel?
probably
I own both Fatboy and MoBa barrels and I love it!
He is using legere reed
Brycen Mages no shit
I thought that was just some blueish clear wood
Backun barrel + Legere reed= dead overtones and ring to the sound
Good to know
@@heyeg3u not really as it's not super interesting to listen to
@@klarinetta I meant that its good to know I shouldn't use backun barrel plus a legere reed.
Ty Rubinoff it’s not necessarily true depending on the player
Totally agree.
What piece did he start the intro with?
Kevin Ngo Weber concertino
Kevin Ngo Clarinet solo from movement 4 of beethovens 4th
Be interesting if he could still reach the same conclusions in a double blind test
Very compact sound
I want one! :D
legere reed?
***** Just this one time or usually?
amaruchi89 Ricardo only uses legere reeds
what length barrel do you suggest?
DannyMC depends on what you want. I find that the shorter barrel is more punchy while the longer barrel is more dark and mysterious if that makes any since

Algun modelo en especial de boquilla que se adapte que se adapte mejor a las cañas legere ?
The first was best imho.
Took me thirty seconds to realize that's "in my humble opinion".
This guy seems very aggressive when he puts his clarinet apart and back together, is he in a hurry? Good showcase though.
Pls free backun clarinet 😭
Thats my cousin my lost cousin my name hector Morales

Bullshit.
Barrels dont make any difference. IMHO
Just practice, 4 or 5 hours every day and you Will see what you can achieve.
Agree with this. Practice is what makes the difference in your playing, not the barrel.
