My problem is that the ligature that came with my brand new Alpha doesn't seem to stay in place. I tighten it on the reed, but then I can just pull it off without effort. Fortunately, I found my [25 year-] old mouthpiece from high school. The mouthpiece probably needs some cleaning and re-corking, but the ligature is fine (maybe a bit misshapen). The inner surface is a bit rough looking -- maybe dirty, maybe tarnished or worn. Either way, it holds my reed securely on my new mouthpiece.
